  1. Our DZ gear shop often has a "gear check contest". They have a mannequin with rig on, they introduce some mistakes and you write them down with your name, winner gets a prize. New contest with new mistakes every few weeks. A good idea in my book (esp the prize ) ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Talk about a bad day At least he was TOLD they did it, the holes in the container weren't that easy to see I gathered. And they DID catch another guy with a "black backpack full of coke" ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Queensday weekend april 28-30 @ Teuge, The Netherlands: 2 Grand Caravans, free load organising FF/FS/wingsuit and the end-of-day videos on a really big screen! flyer ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. he might not be able to groudlaunch it in your country either Dunno, there's not much to groundlaunch FROM here. Maybe the skiing ramp where I used to work. But yeah, should've read better and no clue if it makes a decent groundlaunch canopy, bsides it's price. I know sabres work fine though ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. It's the other way round, they're sewn high to be effective in a sit/backfly too. I wouldn't get any other kind myself. Check the 2nd post here for some pics of freefly-style suits (with not so much drag though) like that: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2733885;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. You'd need 700 jumps to jump it here. It's not a good wingsuit canopy. They're also dirt cheap so there's probably a reason or more reasons ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. I had a lot of problems with the 300D, as have others that used to jump it. Error99 in freefall, and not with sigma lenses either. I know one or 2 skydivers that had 300D's that didn't have any problems though. But with tailgate airplanes and/or altitudes of 16k+ we had nothing but trouble with them. Also some problems with 10D. I switched over to Nikon because of the $%^& 300D! The 350D/400D (and 20D/30D) seem much better cameras. ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Hell forget about the kids, we even teach PUPPIES how to skydive here ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. Well duh. BTW you can fly on your belly in any suit I love my 2 camera suits, one has tigher pants, the other one has high drag "old skool" freefly pantz. I only fly belly, can't backfly good enough yet. I definately do not want/need booties on my camera suits
  10. Hi, "prufur" is German, not Dutch (as is Holland/The Netherlands)? That would be "rigger". Anyway i'm pretty sure it wouldn't be accepted if he was jumping with a Dutch license. Foreign license, sure. But this sounds more like the German rules to me. They also do yearly checks I think, and also on BASE gear, which has the unfortunate result that you need an approved canopy (not all BASE canopies are approved) and you need a reserve. So I don't think we're the worst country it's expensive and a hassle sometimes yes, and lots of us would like to see the yearly check gone since riggers check the same things every repack anyway at least they should. But we also have people who are not riggers but are allowed to pack reserves, they generally charge less for a repack and are not allowed to do the yearly check or any work on a rig, so that may be where part of the problem lies. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. Yes it's being used for skydiving. Topmount it not sidemount it it's too wide. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. We take kids from 6 years, usually skydiver's kids but yes we do. Regular tandem age is advised age 10 and up at our DZ, some other DZ's here have 12 and up for instance. Our criteria are that the kid (and not just the parent) must want it and that they fit into the small harness we have. And they get an experienced TM (because of the lack of weight). We had a 9yr old dropzone kid doing her 2nd tandem at night
  13. This is how we generally do it: http://www.12000ft.com/video/12.html ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Never heard of it on this side of the pond? I'm not sure of the effect? By moving the ring up are you not giving the canopy less room instead of more (like with triple risers)? ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. When JC and Luigi did some coaching for swoopers at our DZ in 2004, almost ALL of the SWOOPERS needed longer brakes! I do a lot of video for swooping competitions, every now and then I see another one with the top of the canopy going all wavy When I sold my Spectre last year I got comments about the brake line length ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Say, that's the company that makes the Diamant and the Rubis, my all-time favorite canopies ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. Tried other batteries yet? ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Doesn't matter. Not all of my videos have music, and not all music is a copyright violation, but even if it is it still does not give you the right to violate both the music and the video. Furthermore it might not be wise because the skydiving community is so small and people know each other, so if you rip off one skydiver, another may not give you their video to use. Just because something is put on the 'net doesn't mean you can do what you want with it. Try using one of Norman Kent's photo's Esp if you re-edit stuff, that makes it even worse. Skydivers on the whole are NICE so usually just ask it's probably ok if not for commercial use. Don't nick stuff if you don't wanna get burned. and don't make feeble excuses either ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. BTW, don't forget that it's the USPA who forces visiting foreign jumpers to do a repack (which we do not!) if they have TSO'd rigs and reserves and are out of date according to the USPA. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. It's the KNVvL (= USPA). The government has nothing to do with this. It only applies to jumpers holding a Dutch license. Like I said, it's not the repack per se, it's the obligatory yearly check which INCLUDES a repack. Now, as long as the yearly check is still valid, ie no change to harness&container, opening system, reserve and AAD, and no older than a year obviously, it doesn't matter anymore who does the repacks "in between". ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Can you get rid of the date altogether for now? i can't. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. The date in my Katana ad is stuck on 2005, it refuses to show 2006 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=47557&d=1 ciel bleu, Saskia
