  1. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=47829;d=1 I'm probably pretty conservative, but what do others wingsuit I's recommend in jumpnumbers etc? ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. That video was already removed from this website once. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Generally speaking: .3 for inside video .25 for AFF, tandem handcam .45-.6 for outside video The angles these lenses give depends on brand (a .6 may be wider than a .45) and on the camera you're using and on the step-up ring if any. The single element lenses are low profile so great for skydiving, but generally are more expensive than the regular lenses and they generally cannot be zoomed without going blurry. For a HDV cam, buy a HDV wideangle lens they are higher resolution. Buy a lens with the right thread size for your camera or buy a bigger one (generally 30 or 37mm) and use a metal (NOT plastic) step-up ring so you can use the lenses on other cameras more easily. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Absolutely false. I never used my frontrisers even on 0 wind days, and usually landed on my feet even on those 0 wind days, i only went to my knees a few times when screwing up (first jump of the weeken + 0 wind + nervous before the jump, etc). On the whole I landed them just fine, and I'm not the greatest canopy pilot, so if i can do it ... ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. "for some reason" is the legal environment in the States ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Well which Atom do you jump. I'm guessing an Atom 0? But the Techno is a great reserve, I like mine it flies and lands better than a PDR. I wouldn't change it, unless the problem is big enough - what is the problem? But I thought you couldn't jump PdF stuff anyway if you're from the US..? ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Aren’t there proper legal documents that can take your families wishes out of the equitation? Probably. But I didn't go that far. ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. We have 2 licenses here: "vouwbevoegdheidhouder" which translates as someone who is allowed to pack reserves, and rigger. Both have their own seal so no problem there. The vouwbevoegdheidhouder cannot do the yearly check nor any rigging work on the rig, so many people let them do the "between" repack cause they usually charge less and go to a rigger for the yearly check+repack. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. ***I don't think so, the worst that can happen is you live the rest of your life as a quadrepaligic. At least that is what I would consider to be worse the dying. i agree [url] Ditto. We had an accident at our DZ when I was just skydiving a few months. Very experienced jumper but very very uncurrent, still jumping his old Stiletto, was doing a special photo jump, landed out together with cameraman, turned too low. He survived initially but was paralysed from the neck down. He passed away about 2 weeks later. I had a long talk with my parents, about pulling the plug if something like that ever happens to me. His family wouldn't, I'm not 100% sure if mine will but at least they know how i feel about it. Should it ever happen and I feel otherwise then I'll have to let them know ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. We have 2 camera people at our dz that use stand-alone cd-burners for tandem photos. Not that particular brand, Apacer i think, but yeah we use them. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. It used to be legal here to pack your own reserve, I doubt it is still being done much since you would have to get your reserve packing license now (don't need to be a rigger) and keep it current, but for people that have been in the sport really long, it's not that weird. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. A hybrid Lightning is half ZP/half F111, like say a PdF Merit and a PD Silhouette. Trust me hybrid Lightnings do exist "Composite" is probably the same thing but have never heard it called that, you don't call a Silhouette "composite" do you? A hybrid Tri however is a ZP freefall canopy modified for CRW. But yeah, at least 2 guys I know regularly freefall with Lightnings, I think both have hybrid 176's but not 100% sure. It's a really bad idea to freefall with a ZP Lightning, and anything smaller than 143 is always ZP. I still don't get the competition trim thing, as we also have a rotation competition?! I'll stick to sequential or rotation ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. WHICH 2 manufacturers? So far, the Vigil has had some misfires (plus whatever you call firing on the ground/in a pressurised aircraft) and the Cypres (1+2) has had plenty of misfires. Production units Argus misfires: 0. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. But, what type are they?? If they're not a competition trim ZP Lightning, you don't want it. There's alot of demo composite and "F-111" canopies out there, but not to many "ZP" versions. No idea, I'm not the one selling them and they're way too big for me to be interesting. But nothing much wrong with hybrid Lightnings, we have some people freefalling with the bigger lightnings too and then they need to be hybrid. I have no idea what you mean by competition trim, there's sequential trim and rotation trim, and maybe the world record trim too. "Comp" trim doesn't exist AFAIK, every team has it's own wants and needs. There's a Dutch website which acts as intermediary for selling and buying all kinds of Lightnings, here: http://home.hetnet.nl/~kuiper1968/index.html the 2 160's I mentioned are for sale at our DZ shop, here: http://www.parachutecase.nl/theshop/artikel/mains/mains.html it lists both 160's as having world record trim, they probably WERE in the world record ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. BTW i know of 2 Lightning 160's for sale both for 795 euro (~1025 USD), might be a couple more out here since they're pretty big (143 and 126 is what most are flying here). ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. So does your friend have a hybrid Tri or a CRW Tri? There's 3 different kinds of tri's, ideally you'll be flying the same type otherwise you'll have problems with one opening FAST and one opening slow. Both these types of canopy are pretty hard to find 2nd hand btw, a Lightning 160 is easier but can only be matched to a comp Tri because of the openings (fast). ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. You can get a low pass at our DZ but there need to be more people (2 or 3) that want to exit low. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. There's nothing about this on the (Dutch language) Belgium forum. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. My neck muslcles usually complain the most after an opening with a fast turn in it when the copy is not fully open. Getting whipped around hurts more than a harder opening straight on. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Hmm I used to work for an insurance company (IT department, but still), we were not that bad I swear But when I needed another insurance company to pay me a lot of money they got away with it using an entire page of smallprint. That damn bank+insurance company cost me EUR 28.000 total!!!! And it was all (barely) legal too ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. LOL ok they speak German too. But now I'm curious, do you need a reserve? Rigger's checkover? Any stuff like that? And with paragliding? ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Did you tr a search? This issue has been coverd ad nauseam.... Consensus: don't jump a HDD/DVD cam. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Basically all the Sony cameras that are for sale now are topmount only. Some are wider than others but I wouldn't sidemount any of them. ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. Trust me Tristan, you do NOT want to get into trouble with German insurance. Ask Henny sometime...... He had a slight "problem" while BASEjumping. But not surprised that they regulate this, they regulate BASE jumping pretty strict too..... You probably need a reserve for GL too? ciel bleu, Saskia
