I don't know of any student cypres fires under canopy at our dz, might have been some but I think we had more problems with fxc's. Then again, last year I say a SL student doing stall turns (!!) on a manta 288 or skymaster 280, down to 90ft or so then let up and land "What? Not allowed to do that? F-X-what?" The guy was a paraglider too.... Guess a student cypres WOULD have fired Some of the rental rigs from the shop next door have student cypres, I know these are now only rented out to STUDENTS not heavier experienced jumpers anymore, because of a few problems ciel bleu, Saskia

Some European (and other?) countries have rules about canopy selection (size/model/wingload) now, that might give you an idea too. Do a search for the Dutch rules, there are a few threads about those that explain our rules. ciel bleu, Saskia

The more jumps I get the more I get why you need so many f** jumps and the SKILLS to jump with tandems. ciel bleu, Saskia

I loved my 2 spectres. Esp for wingsuit jumping, filming crw and camera jumping in general. There is a reason half the camera crew at World Team jumps a spectre OTOH I liked the performance of my vengeance better and I now jump a safire, excellent choice for a cameraflyer, as is the pilot. I love not having to deal with the openings as much as i have to with a vengeance/katana etc, esp when wingsuiting but also in general. I like a little bit more forward speed than the spectre gave me, although the canopy i jump now is effectively 2 sizes smaller so not really fair. Haven't jumped a spectre 107 to compare... Bottom line, there is no better canopy if you want to have a relaxed trouble free opening. My first choice for new winguiters (and old....) .For more performance in-flight, a 9cell would be better... Although seeing Bruno swoop his spectre, there is plenty of performance to be had if you know how to fly it (and have the wingloading LOL) ciel bleu, Saskia

Do not allow people you don't know on a tandemjump Even if they have >1000 jumps like this guy. Lesson learned http://www.12000ft.com/video/ahem.wmv His lesson, no, he thinks the jump went great. ciel bleu, Saskia

There are other brands, Apacer for instance: http://images.google.nl/images?hl=nl&q=apacer+cd+burner&btnG=Afbeeldingen+zoeken&gbv=2 ciel bleu, Saskia

Editing PC: State of the art for Circa 9/13/2007??
dragon2 replied to DougH's topic in Photography and Video
Right now a quad core is pretty useless, as software doesn't take advantage of it yet. Next versions, who knows. Right now a 2x is often not used 100%. I'd rather have more RAM i think. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Editing PC: State of the art for Circa 9/13/2007??
dragon2 replied to DougH's topic in Photography and Video
I use/have used 2 laptops for editing: dual core 1.83 ghz/2 gb ram/sata harddrives/usb2 ext harddrive/gefprce go 7400/17" widescreen amdx2 2ghz/2 gb ram/sata harddrive/usb2 ext harddrive/geforce go 6150/12" widescreen Both not really good videocards but both render video just fine - tandem vids and daily vids etc. The 17" laptop is 1 1/2 yrs old but I like the 17"screen better for editing and the dualcore seems better than the amd even though that laptop is brand new. For a desktop system I'd buy something similar: core2duo processor (= newer than dualcore) with loads of harddrive space and a 17"/19" widescreen monitor and a decent (100-ish) videocard. 2 gb ram or more (3 or 4 gb), esp if you're going to run vista more = better. ciel bleu, Saskia -
The first one is a 190 i think, maybe a 170 it's a pretty large angle lens The skysurfer no clue but it's an older pic and I thought they only made down to 150's at first..? ciel bleu, Saskia

9cell reserve canopies that I know of: Predator, Falcon, various tandem reserves. ciel bleu, Saskia
-
A rig with 3 canopies in it. I did my 2 intentionals with a 2nd "rig" (mainly webbing) worn underneath my regular rig, with a belly reserve attached to it. Not without it's dangers, but I felt it was worth it. ciel bleu, Saskia

And don't forget the 9cell reserves out there Seem to be quite a few Predators around here lately, for some reason ciel bleu, Saskia

Henny was frontfloating for those shots. We have a few cameraflyers here that do that for SL, or for tandems. Usually they jump with the last SL but with these it was a) low and b) useless so Henny climbed back in. Frontfloating can get awesome shots, like this one by Martijn van Dam: ciel bleu, Saskia -

LOL thanx I had a smile on my face editing that. Recommendations for music for the next installment are welcome, we had a slight generation gap here: Simon: get some Glen Miller music. Me: What, Fly like an eagle? ciel bleu, Saskia -

Makes me appreciate my safire that much more http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=6175 ciel bleu, Saskia -
That, plus they have a tendency to reset themselves (back to autofocus etc) plus they may go into standby real soon without possibility to wake them back up by remote. ciel bleu, Saskia

My old sony .6 was slightly wider or the same angle as my current hama .45 yeah. However the sony I had (black plastic housing) was a crappy lens for jumping: it soon got moisture between the lens elements. Heard that from more people, so I'd avoid that particular lens. ciel bleu, Saskia

Does your DZ use SOS systems for student progression?
dragon2 replied to WatchYourStep's topic in Instructors
No, in the entire Netherlands. Our dropzones have either SL AND/or AFF progression (no option for that...). ciel bleu, Saskia -
I had the pc-in-burble thing a few times in my first few dozen wingsuit jumps, easiest for me was to immediately go back to full flight, it would open - HARD but it would open ciel bleu, Saskia

How to avoid NTSC to PAL conversion "jerking"?
dragon2 replied to mircan's topic in Photography and Video
Personally I love premiere. I've got cs3 but so far haven't been able to make heads nor tails of it; it's somewhat different from premiere pro cs 1-2. So for the moment i stick to cs2. How to do the palntsc thing has been described a few times here, by me among others. Don't forget to deinterlace when exporting! ciel bleu, Saskia -
LOL that should be 2gb of course ciel bleu, Saskia
