I know what you mean. I really am interested in this stuff, but it just feels like such a chore sometimes when there are other things I want to do... not that I'm still working on my paper at 6 AM. Oh no, perish the thought. :) Dan

28th Amendment here we come. :) Actually, I'm not in law school just yet. This is an undergrad Con. Law class, but law school is my eventual destination. Dan

Also, I think they said they will only give out the free tacos if the target is hit by the core of the station. It's not going to happen. Fortunately for me, I don't like tacos. Dan

But I like con law. I find it interesting. The papers aren't even a chore to do, they are intellectually exciting... ummm... am I convincing anyone? Dan

Argh! I need to stay online in order to get at some case information I need to write my stupid constitutional law paper. But how the heck can I really be expected to concentrate when I'm online? Argh! Dan

***I'd hate to be the guy who came up with the idea if it actually hits the target and they have to pay up. Could get pretty expensive...[/qoute] Actually, I read that they took out insurance to cover the cost on the off chance that it does hit. It seems borderline impossible to me, but then again I never would've thought a first time jumper would've managed to hit the hangar dead on... Dan

Serves them right! They outta get a real sport. Actually, I kind of like golf. (I know, I'm sorry. Please don't shun me.) That said, you'd think they'd recognize the inherent badassness of skydivers and just deal with it. :) Dan

I'm drawing a blank. I think I've spent too much of my life seeking to avoid embarrasment. :) Dan

Greetins All, I noticed PLFkings mention of a Farmer McNasty landing in his post. (Congrats on the license, by the way.) Anyhow, does anyone have any good Farmer McNasty or general landing out stories? I (un)fortunately have none just yet, sorry. Dan

Hey Skreamer, It's your thread, why don't you start us off? :) Dan

Ok, so I'm at the dropzone, except its on the beach. Tons of my friends are there with me, including some I haven't seen in years. One of my friends is lying on the ground sleeping, and I'm shouting at him, "Wake up, dude, we need to manifest." I'm wearing a student rig, which is odd because I haven't even taken the retrain class, and I keep worrying that I'm going to get sand in it and jam up the ripcord casing or that it'll get into the closing loop and cause it to fray. Eventually I go to manifest to ask about retaking the FJC, and they tell me that it's getting really cloudy and windy and that I should just jump now while I can. I ask if I even have time for a gear check, but she just tells me to go right over to the plane. Then I wake up. Any budding psychoanalyts want to take a stab at it? :) Dan

So, the mystery is over. Anyone else have any good funny places to have sex stories. My only one is pretty lame. My roomate just wouldn't leave, back when I lived in the dorms, so we just waited 'till he went to sleep. I've never dared mention it to him for fear he was actually awake. :) That's not really skydiving related, although once I told my girlfriend it would really turn me on if she wore my altimeter. She was just about to do it before I said I was kidding. :) Dan

hehe... I have a regular cottage industry of taking out parts as I upgrade them, building them into a computer again, and selling them to my dad as he decides he needs a new computer. He's actually got a P2 300, which is a bummer because it'll probably be all he needs for a while. :) Dan

We'll do this democratically! Is Doasfu a geek? Yes No (I'm going a little poll crazy, I know.)
-
Hey, Skreamer said I was in. I will not tolerate questioning of my geek status!
-
"Because this post has a poll in it, you may delete it but not edit it." Even my powers are useless here. :) Dan
-
I'm bumping this subject back up top and putting it back on topic. Why? Because I love dumb whuffo stories, that's why. Come on, there have to be some more good ones out there about talking to them. :) My first jump was two days before the fall semester started in 1999. I remember the prof in one of my courses had us do a general introduction by having us say something cool about ourselves. When it got to me, I said my name and that, "I started skydiving yesterday." He just gave me a goofy look and said, "Started? Does that mean you're going to do it more than once?" I wanted to scream, "How could I not?!?" Dan
-
Ok, now that we've found out there were plenty of geeks lurking around the dropzones, half afraid of getting their jump money stolen by the cool kids, I thought we should find out some more concrete data on the issue. So, I present to you: a poll! What is your geek status? I'll trust you to make the determination for yourself: Are you a geek? We promise not to tell your fellow skydivers. I've never been a geek, and I'll never be a geek. In fact, I only hang out with you guys so you'll let me cheat on your tests. I used to be a geek, but I'm certainly not one any longer. I never used to be a geek, but somehow I became one. How did that happen? I've always been a geek, and I always will be a geek. Solidarity, brothers (and sisters.) Oh, sorry, I thought this was the thread about naked chicks. Have at it! -Dan

Was this in a Cessna? That'd be quite the accomplishment.
-
Forgive my cluelessness if I'm off on my time frame, but when you stopped jumping where squares common yet? Or were you jumping rounds/pcs? Dan
-
I'll go back the original subject and brag about my computer. :) This computer has been evolving over several years, but the motherboard and processor are just a couple of months old: 900 Mhz Ahtlon 192 megs RAM Geforce 2 MX And a brand new slot load DVD-rom drive Hey Skreamer, I'd love a region free dvd player... is the one you mentioned publically available? Dan
-
Shit! Double mal! What's the casting time for "feather fall?" Dan
-
That's awesome, and it brings a smile to my face to hear about it. What do they make you do after a 20 year layoff? Just a recurrency jump?
-
It's funny, but I just realized that when I mention I used to have a radio show to any given group of whuffos, it's big news... most of them can't imagine doing anything so exciting. :) Just a side thought. Dan
