Hey Sangiro, The site's been losing my login when I come back, or go from one area to another. It's happening at home and at work, so I know it's not just cookie settings. Dan

Words to live by, my friend. Dan

Bah! You're not an outsider... there's some cool whuffos out there. (shh... don't tell anyone I said so.)
-
Bah! How can you even call it a first jump if you didn't have to hang below the bottom of the wing, gripping the strut for all it's worth! :) Dan

This reminds me of something cracked me up this weekend. I was sitting around watching some people getting ready to go up. Anyhow, there's a King Air load standing around geared up, waiting for the plane to taxi over, from a good distance away. At the same the C-182 is sitting right in front of the group of 13, props spinning and door open. It looked just like the 13 of them were about to try and pile into the Cessna, and I just started laughing, much to the confusion of those around me. :) Dan

***talk about DIY and babies and getting pissed and doing the garden and pension plans and investments and ....*** And sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit destroying gameshows untill your pissing it all away in some home, nothing more than an embarrasment to fucked up, selfish brats you've spawned to replace yourself. But why would I want any of that? :) Dan

Wait a second. You jumped? Out of an airplane? Freak...

For great justice!

One in a day and, get this, two in one weekend... so I'm not sweating it either. :) Dan

Forgive my denseness on this one, but is this a direct response to my post? Have I said something that implies I should take up golf? I guess I'm not clear on what you're saying. Dan

That's what the PRCP/PPCTs are all about. Practice them in the shower. Practice them when you get up. Practice them all the time and they become automatic. Then, when you're brain shuts off in freefall, the motion just happens and you'll have a beautiful jump. Dan

Hey Guys, I thank you for your honesty, but I don't think I made things very clear. This wasn't a case of nerves. I've had plenty of those, but they usually either keep me away from the DZ or keep me from manifesting. On Saturday something was physically wrong, and I'm thinking it was dehydration. A few hours later, after drinking a good deal of water, sitting in the shade, and having some food, I was much better, but it was sadly too late to jump. When I was about to gear up, I was quite light headed and a little bit dizzy, and I could only see things getting worse at altitude. Dan

Well, I went to the DZ this time. Did I jump? No. But this is an improvement over last weekend... So, I get out to the DZ early on Saturday afternoon. I went to manifest and ask for a 15 second delay briefing. (ever heard of static line? hehe) Anyhow, I'm going over the jump with my JM. First time doing a new exit, a poised release from the C-182 step rather than a hanging exit. Once I get out, I'm doing a 180 turn one way, stopping, and doing a 360 the other way. Got it. Not too bad, should have plenty of time from 7500'. Anyhow, the JM heads off to brief another student on PRCPs before we go, and I head out to the mockup to work on the poised exit a little more. Damn, I think, but that sun is coming down hard and I'm feeling just a bit woozy. The JM comes over and he asks me how I'm doing, I look a little out of it. "I'm ok." "Don't give me O.K. Can you jump?" "Yep, I'm good to go." A few minutes later, just as I'm about to gear up, I realize that this is my life I'm playing with here, and even though I'm just a shade off of normal, something's not feeling right. Shit. I really need to sit this one out. So I take a deep breath and tell the JM that I'm feeling light headed and should really stay on the ground. So what can I say? I know I made the right choice. I'm sick of people telling me I made the right choice. It friggin' sucked to stay on the ground. I was pumped to make another freefall, and this would have been an awesome one. I shouldn't make it seem like the weekend sucked, though. I got a start on learning to pack, although I'm not quite a prodigy on the packing. ("I've seen worse. I'm not going to say you're the best student I've ever had, but I've seen worse.") Fun times were had, beer was consumed, but what a bummer. Dan

Hey All, It seems to me sometimes like almost every jumper has tried a tandem. Now, I sure didn't know I was going to keep coming back when I made my first jump, and that's a lot of the reason why I wanted to go solo on what I thought might well be my only jump. Who else here has never tried a tandem? Frankly, I think it would scare the hell out of me... Dan

Well, for those of you who are eagerly following the "Dan hung out with some frat guys and it wasn't fun" thread, here's an update: I was talking to my friend, who's invite it was, for the first time since we played poker. Anyhow, offhand he asks, "Did you have fun playing the other night?" I don't know what happened, but the "lie politely" section of my brain was in severe malfunction. My response was, "[long pause]No. Not at all. Sorry." What an ass I am. :) Dan

You're welcome to it. Too dangerous. I'll stick to skydiving.

Hey, I didn't know you could get places from Michigan... how odd. Seriously, I would love to come down sometime, but sadly I have five dollars in my wallet and sixty in the bank. The sixty is for my next student jump, the five is for food (how much is bread again?) Don't ask me about bills... Dan :)

Umm... where's your dropzone again? :) Dan

Bah, it'll make a poet of you! :) Dan

Writing papers when all you want to is go skydiving... hmm... what's that like? :) Dan

Oh yeah, they're real. And they're pretty much annoying as hell. This wasn't a big keg bash or anything (I wouldn't have touched that with a ten foot pole) but it was just a group of people all of whome, other than me, were in a fraternity... and boy were they unpleasant. I don't even want to talk about the sorority girls that came over... shudder. Dan
