  1. True true. He's a man of class for sure. The difference between him and the others is the content of the rhyme, and the lack of contempt for "the man". He is like Bill Cosby, making it happen without bringing yourself down. On a side note. My wife is a hairstylist, and when we lived in California, she had a very rich customer that needed a house sitter. So she did it and I "assisted". It was an extremely nice house in the richest area in Ventura County. So some time later, that lady sold the place to Will and Jeda Smith....with all the furniture. So basically I've had sex in the same bed as Jeda Smith. Yes, my naked body has shared the same bed, and hopefully sheets, as Jeda. I rule. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  2. That's being nice even. Rap is mostly angry young men with absolutely no vocal skills what so ever. How the fuck they make millions of dollars still baffles the hell out of me. At the rate the spend it on thier "bling", they wont be wealty long. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  3. Silly me....I thought this was about rap.... ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  4. Try Ouragan Suits. Best built around. I have also seen and hear good things about Liquid Sky Suits. Alot of the same construction techiniques. IMO Kurupee suits are on the low end of quality. Its like a mechanics overalls with velcro at the cuffs. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  5. No one said it wasn't good enough to be a reserve, that is why it was stated in a question from, not a statement. No one ever said it wasn't a good idea, but if you want to do BASE, the best canopy to learn on is a BASE canopy. Using a different canopy than he actual one you plan to BASE with is just not a good idea in my book. That would be like me training on my Xfire 109 for swoop comps, then on the day of competition using my Katana 107. Both fully elliptical non-crossbraced 9 cells. Now the real reason that were even discussing the airworthyness of this particular canopy for a main, is due to the prospective jumpers questions and concerns regarding the canopy. We are just discussing all options and considerations for a jumper with only 30+ jumps. Someone in this jump range really doesn't have the knowledge base to even know what questions to ask to make the best decision he can make. If you have 300 jumps on a raven, its 300 more than I have. But were not discussing the worthyness of the line or Ravens, were discussing the application in which it is being considered for here. There are better canopies for this guy. BASE canopies. Someone with 30 jumps cannot legitimately transfer his knowledge base from one canopy to the next unless he puts many many jumps on the canopy first, and spends more time in the sport jumping. Like if he jumped his Raven for 150 jumps, then went to a BASE canopy, maybe then he could gain something from jumping a similar canopy. When I had less than 100 jumps, I jumped around 3-4 different canopies. Did I think I knew what I was getting out of it by testing them? Sure I did. Now that I have 650 jumps, I realized that I really didn't know shit about the canopies I flew when I was sub 100. I guess that is my whole point here. I tend not to get it across as accurately as it is in my head the first time. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  6. So, Rob, in this guys best interest, would a reserve that is not good enough to be in a reserve tray, be good enough to be used as a main? I already have my own personal answer to this, but I would like it to be heard from a seasoned rigger. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  7. My opinion still stands. You asked on another thread and Tom Aiello gave you good info. With only 30 skydives, it would be a good idea to listen to someone of Tom's experience and stature in the BASE world. He will not steer you wrong. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  8. Why in a million years would you as a new skydiver want to jump a 16 year old F-111 reserve canopy that has no flare? If is due to cost, you are buying for the wrong reasons. Get a main canopy that is designed to be a main canopy. Especially as a newer skydiver, you could benefit from having more of everything at your fingertips. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  9. What is your primary concern when considering a reserve? Only the pack volume? What about loading and speed deployment maximums? ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  10. Yeah, that's original. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  11. He knew where I was talking about! Oh, you want to play too??? Ok. Snohomish. But you knew that smartass..... ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  12. We will soon be starting up the Tuesday night swoop club down here, just as soon as the time changes. The DZ is for the most part closed on that day, but open to us swoopers from about 3 pm or so to sunset. We have 10 foot blades and I'm sure we will be painting out the zone accuracy. I'll let you know when it starts. If your interested that is. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  13. Want mad low?????? Check this out. 900' by the time I saw white. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=2417 Yeah.......that was a good day.... Edit to add: This event was a good awakening. Not only did I review my breakoff and deploy alititudes, now dumping at 4K, but I also bumped up my flatline harddeck audible to 2K. I was amazed how fast that shit happens when shit happens. The extra 3-4 seconds of freefall aint worth shit if you've got problems. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  14. Hey, have you gotten much air time on that 2.0 yet? You need to come down to Sno and run the course with us sometime soon. Fo Shizzle? ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  15. And the Katana and Crossfire really shouldn't be in the same performance class either. The Katana is damn near a x-braced. Without the flare power. Very bad thing for anyone in this guy's position. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  16. I have sent Conceptus a email asking them if they can piece together a switch using something like this, and then converting the final product to a tounge switch end. I'm sure its easy enough when you know what your doing. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  17. Hes probably stuck using it, because it is his only film camera he uses. He has digi's, but he doesn't want to strap a 10k camera on my head. And I really don't want that much camera on my head either! He is using the photos for publications such as Adventure Magazine, so he needs either film, or very very high quality digital. Hes particular, and is willing to pay for it. So I am going to shoot whatever and however he wants. read: well compensated. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  18. So I have been hired to do some camera work for a whuffo photographer. He would like me to use his Nikon F90x film camera. I have used his camera before with a Rf module that I was attatched to the shoe plate and the other was a hand remote. It worked, but unfortunately, my head looked like the Eiffel Tower. So what I am looking for is a hotshoe shutter release mechanism that is either a tounge ot bite switch. Does this exist? Is there any mechanism that will allow me to keep my hands completely free when shooting a film camera that does not have an electronic shutter release port, ie 2.5mm plug. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  19. Ok meow. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  20. Different class altogether. Untamed still gets the Top Asshole award. Fixed it for ya. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  21. I saved myself from a imminent collision with a sign on a turn due to ice. The conditions were ok, but at the last second I noticed the sheen on the road....too late....just like you. So, my f-150 was already in 4 wheel drive....I locked the brakes up, put it in reverse, and floored it. All 4 tires were spinning backwards and I was still going forwards, but slowing down. It worked. Stopped a couple of feet from the big ass sign. I thought to myself....well that was stupid for entering the turn too fast for conditions, but that was fun too! Steering is reversed when the truck is going forwards, but the tires are going backwards! Wheeeee. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  22. Have you thought about changing your exit timing some? If you leave before the tandem, you can be below (not exactly) them and get the aircraft in the exit shot. Its a real crowd pleaser, and that extra vertical distance will be eaten up by the faster accelerating tandem. You can accomplish this with some backflying or dead beetle flying. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  23. I know a skilled fledgling camera flyer that took some pics of you in your suit! I wish he could find them. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  24. Yeah, I gotta agree with ya.....that was pretty bad. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
  25. My bad, I meant 100's of jumps.....one too many 0's. And I think I covered the dangers of overloading a reserve. ------------------------------ Controlled and Deliberate.....
