ummm what is a normal father? Normalicy is what society depicts. My "normal' however may be different than your normal. The society in which I live may be different than yours. I truly am not trying to be trite, I am advocating that people have different views on religion, politics etc. ethenic groups have a different societal structure, so their normal might be different than yours and mine. I appreciate that everyone has taken the time to express their views. This thread has been enlightening and has given me better insight into this "normal" skydiving family. Cheers! Okay I was out of this thread until..........my 11 year old came up and read the topic and said: "As long as it's good for the child" Out of the mouths of babes! I am a fantastic parent! I have children that are more tolerant than their Grandparents and parents! Change is painful but it brings about growth........the world is changing and with it the preconcieved notions.......when it comes down to it, we are all just people. Cheers It only takes a little pixie dust...... -
Excuse me, would you mind elaborrating on your post? I'm not quite sure i understood what you meant. Thanks! It only takes a little pixie dust......

Rhino~ I am now out of this thread and will take it in private. Cheers It only takes a little pixie dust...... -
Often times posts are taken out of context, taken personally, or someone's perception is slightly askewed. What is missing most of the time is nuance in these forums. Generally speaking, most posts seem to be generalized in their nature as it should be. Inflammatroy, derrogatory or down right attacks on other members in this community is unnecessarry. Anything can be worked out if we would take the time to become better listeners, this includes everyone. We are after all a very unique, diverse family with a commonality. I salute the divine within each and everyone of us.... Cheers It only takes a little pixie dust......

Rhino~ Part of loving our children is accepting them for all that they are and all that they are NOT. I shall not debate the issue of parenting with you, nor do I believe that just because I view the world in one way and teach it/live it, that my children will inherently believe in the same way. That's the beauty of freedom of choice. My skydiving for instance, allows my children the freedom to take risks in their lives, that perhaps otherwise they wouldn't. I want my kids to live and think outside of the box. To seek out the possibilities. Your parenting style is different than mine and that's okay. I will tell you that my children are well rounded, well loved and know that NO MATTER what home is a place where they will always be taken in and well loved and accepted. You are welcome to your belief system and opinions, I respect that you have a strong ones, but please do not insinuate that others are not good parents because they parent in a different way. Cheers It only takes a little pixie dust...... -

[Family values means loving, supportive parents who spend time with their kids, and a stable, safe home. That's how you raise grounded kids with a sense of morals. It doesn't matter if the parents are white, black, gay, straight, or Martian. ] I say Amen . It only takes a little pixie dust...... -

I have to point out that children's opinions are formed and reached long before they reach adulthood. The youth of today are much more knowledgeable and tolerant of all kinds of things than my generation. As a parent, the best I can do is try to give my kids a good foundation to draw from, lots of love, understanding and enough freedom to allow them to make their own choices. With those choices there maybe some consequences for which they will have to take responsibility. The other point here is that we can be the best parent in the world, but it doesn't ensure that we are going to end up with good kids, nor does it ensure that our own kid might turn out to be gay. Do we love them any less? Do we truly have their best interest at heart? Isn't it our fondest desire to see our own children ultimately happy? Yes I prefer men and women together, but if it means providing a loving home for a child that otherwise would stay in the system, I'm all for PEOPLE adopting homeless children. yes. Probably do a damn sight better than some of the "straight" people I know. What does the sexual preference of a person have anything to do with the ability to be a good parent? Furthermore......kids need to be loved and there are tens of thousands of them that need a loving home. It only takes a little pixie dust......
