Saturday my Neptune went bizerk on me on the climb up to altitude and got worse during freefall! Because of practicing "look at my altimeter, look at the ground" on my solo jumps, I was able to confidently pull on time (well planned for 7k and pulled at 6k we later figured) and THEN - MOST IMPORTANTLY - fly my landing pattern with NO PROBLEM what so ever. It was total perfection (I'm so proud)! Just goes to show you CAN NOT depend on electronics and every skydiver should be AWARE of where they are in relation to the ground as well as to others. HA! HA! While going through AFF I would get so sick I could barely get ready to go to the dropzone! I'd make myself go then I'd make myself get on the plane. Still sick and scared out of my mind I'd try everything but the only thing that worked was when I stepped to exit out the door! How weird is that! Eventually after more jumps the nerves calmed down a bit and I didn't get so sick until this weekend! I hadn't jumped in a long while and that queasiness came back to haunt me AGAIN. But I just took it slow and got myself on the plane. I just relaxed and looked out the window focused on breathing (that really helps for me). Then it was time to exit and it all went away! Voodew, As far as "the ordinary" way everyone picks on me I'm totally fine and can play along as well as any body (believe me I should have won an academy award numerous times !) but for some reason what you and everyone you're talking to is missing is ESPECIALLY SINCE I AM NEW TO THIS SPORT and when it comes to MY GEAR and MY SAFETY "picking on me" or JOKING AROUND IN ANY WAY is UNACCEPTABLE and because of that behavior it made me question my gear and my safety. Although it is tempting to continue to "entertain" you and everyone else on here I'm sorry to say that I am done with all this and have moved on. Oh, and by the way, the last thing I want to do is burn any bridges and if all this has come down to now I must worry about having "enemies", so be it. Voodew, You were not there so you know nothing except what they have told you. Believe me I have a grip! From my prospective what happened was not funny or amusing IN ANY WAY! We are talking about MY GEAR and MY SAFETY! Maybe you need to wise up, build the bridge and "get a grip" on what's happening out there. -Mary p.s. What a cute little guy and a smart one too! I'll never forget when we lived in Illinois our next door neighbor telling us a story about a very smart and daring raccoon. One evening they were in their living room with the sliding glass door open enjoying the cool night air coming through the screen door. Then out of no where a raccoon comes up to the screen! So here's this couple sitting real still wondering what this raccoon is up to. And the raccoon, well he's looking inside checking them out. After a few seconds that darn raccoon slide the screen door open as if he lived there and started to come in to their house! What a hoot! ...of my Mom just came to me after watching a segment on spanking on the The O'Reilly Factor. This segment made me remember when my Mom would eventually have enough of us unruly kids and have to use the fly swatter to disipline. Well she didn't have the heart to make it hurt really bad and then we would start laughing so of course she would get madder and her only recourse was to send us to bed early (which actually was a worse punishment)!
