My Summer is gone. I officially started back to work Tuesday, and kids start to school tomorrow. I simply can't believe Summer is gone. Maybe I lost it on one of my 4 trips to Perris, or maybe it fell in the ocean at Key West when I lost my shoe hanging out with Sunman, or maybe on one of my 3 ER trips they Xrayed it and it vanished. Wherever it went I have totally lost 3 months. If you have seen my Summer will you please return it to me cause I wasn't finished with it. Anyone else feel like your life is slipping past you at a fast rate of speed? I guess I'm now planning my next vacation so any ideas???? BTW, wish me luck tomorrow as these kids seem to have grown much taller over the Summer....or I shrank. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.

I'm sure rehab is as close to hell as you ever want to get, but I believe you made the choice to work through it in order to get your life back. I think life is always a choice, and I'm glad you guys made the choice to fight that fight. I go today to see what kind of hell on earth my ortho has in store for my arm and I simply can't wait. Thankfully I have never witnessed anyone going in. I'm with Wendy in that I don't think I could watch. Kelli and Deuce both scared me to death at the Boogie when they got hurt even. I have lost a very close friend in San marcos 2 years ago, Holly this year, and almost lost Eric 2 weeks ago in Perris. I've known several others too. I can honestly say I'm have a tough time with all this. If/ when my Dr. gives me the ok I will jump again, but my imagination has made itself well known over the past few weeks. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.

Trust me Eric already hates the suctioning and lets it be known. I for one am thankful they have all of the procedures that help him even if he hates them at the time they are being done. Miraculously he is still here with us to hate the things they do to keep him alive. Eric is very lucky to have friends like you guys that can not only empathize but also sympathize with him. Visitors are still not allowed or encouraged. The nurses are sticking pretty much to the 2 family visitors at a time. A few exceptions have been made thankfully but not many. Eric is responding and he frowns a lot with the frustration of not being able to communicate his confusion. I'm sure between the drugs and surgeries confusion has become a natural state. When he is awake the tubes are a big frustration because he tends to bite down on them trying to figure out what it is down his throat. We won't know what all he remembers from that day until he can actually talk to us. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.

Day after surgery update. They had Eric under for 7 hours yesterday. The initial part of the surgery was abdominal repair followed by femur repair which they found out was more extensive than at first thought. Due to this they were unable to work on Eric's foot and ankle. He came through the surgery fine and quickly was back at pre-op numbers. Laurie just left from a visit and says he is trying to talk with the vent in and getting quite frustrated. They are hoping to remove the vent on Monday if he continues to improve. I'm sure when they remove that from his throat it will improve his spirits. Hopefully with this latest surgery Eric will be well on his way to initial miraculous recovery. It is hard to believe two weeks have passed since the accident happened. He is a very lucky guy who obviously still has a purpose here. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
