She works at her dance studio to pay some of her dance bills. She regularly dances from 4:00 until 9:30 4-5 nights a week either assisting in classes or taking classes. Then she comes home to do homework and has maintained a B average on Honors level classes. Wrecks are going to happen to kids and adults. Yeah, kids make up a large part of it, but I think a lot of that has to do with their being young and not having lots of experience. I got a call from my father to come look at a car for my oldest child this evening. When questioned it was a 2000 Toyota Solara SLE Convertable. I was so excited about the price and mileage until I contacted my insurance company. OMG...for 6 months on a 16 yo female the insurance is almost 1300. I freaked out. I checked on a plain Toyota Camry and it was 1100 every 6 months. This is with the B average and drivers ed. WTF? Do these companies really think that is reasonable? Thank God she isn't failing and can't pass driver's ed class. Add to the drama as I got the wild idea to put her as primary driver on my 2002 Toyota Highlander. Can you believe the insurance is only 750 every 6 months? WHY? There must be a reason whigh the Highlander is rated on of the top mid sized SUV's and the Solara is one of the safest convertables and yet insurance rates vary so much. I'm pissed but I bought the car anyway. I'm going to drive the convertable. (GEE, not like I'm being put out or anything ) and giving her the Highlander, but the principle behind it sucks.
