I first got off FB a few years back. It used to be a great tool to keep in touch with people all over the world. When I started to see the politicization, I thought "great, this is valuable to see the perspectives of people from a different political leaning"...I think that was worthwhile, but it quickly devolved into dozens of posts showing two ex-coworkers rant posting memes at each other intertwined with updates on various ex's and ads for hoodies with my last name printed on them. As fast as I could unfriend the ex-coworkers, they were replaced by angrier ones! As my Mom has developed health issues, I've gotten back on as a convenient way to keep tabs on all the family stuff back home, then gotten frustrated and suspended my account. That cycle's gone a few times, with the 3rd account suspension being about 3 months in right now.

Many on here don't have the Fox News talking points decoder ring...I think you're referencing the "if Biden hadn't canceled Keystone, we'd be producing more oil and Russia wouldn't have as much leverage in the energy game" talking point....Is that what you're trying to say?

I do see it, and sometimes I roll my eyes as I think often SkyDekker oversimplifies and over-demonizes certain things...but he's at least sharing an opinion that he's crafted himself and not just regurgitating what he saw on Fox last night.

Even if your exceedingly generous interpretation of her not being sympathetic to Putin is taken at face value, what she’s damn sure trying to do is tie this conflict back to the culture war that the GOP really wants to be fighting. It’s in poor taste at best. BTW, you should ask Winsor for a refund on the writing classes.

I see what you’re saying, but at least he’s coming back for conversation. Pop over to the Fox News comments section to have any remaining faith in humanity knocked down a peg. The way those people talk about Democrats reminds me of Borat’s views about Jews. In my useless opinion, Bill and Airdvr are fairly far right but at least our common affinity for falling out of planes has us viewing each other as human and keeping a dialog going.

No foundation??? Google 'Peppermint Patty' and see the results of references to conservatives mocking Psaki for her appearance. Pop into the comments section of Fox news on any story related to the Biden administration and see how long it takes to find a reference to Peppermint Patty.

What you're describing here is somebody breaking into your home and pointing a gun at you. There's a whole debate about keeping a gun beside the bed for self-defense and I'm not touching that with a 10' pole, but isn't that somewhat separate from SYG? In my understanding, and I could very well be wrong, SYG is essentially taking the undisputed rights you have to protect yourself in your home, and extending that to the Denny's parking lot. And the threshold for feeling threatened and 'standing one's ground' is a helluva lot lower than having somebody pointing a gun at your head.

If only you'd picked up the phone when they called to ask you how they should have handled it!!!! When did Washington give you the impression they thought the Russians were bluffing? When they advised Americans to leave Ukraine? When they broadcast, step-by-step, the steps that Putin was going to take to 'justify' the invasion? Are you suggesting that they fact that they left a door open for a diplomatic deescalation means that they didn't take the threat seriously? For somebody who touts his centrism and arrives at all of his conclusions through thoughtful conversations and careful research, you seem to arrive at some damn stupid conclusions. As BIGUN noted in another post (BIGUN correct me if I'm misrepresenting you), it seems more often than not you get to the same talking points as Ted Cruz, what a co-inkidink!
