well I have played several instruments...guitar for 14 years.. but I cant read music at all..I dont even know the names of the strings (well I know "E" and "E")... so as far as writting music..I do that by ear.. so I cant really write music for other instruments that I dont play... -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

..its not all that slow... its just not head banging shtuff. aggie...yeah trumpet would be great.. I also have a sax and a couple harmonicas and some tribal type bongo drums... the only problem is the distance between houston and where you are.. (I think)...cuz I would like to get together about 1-2 times a week to practice.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

Calling those who have jumped in Texas
Yoshi replied to AggieDave's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
well I have jumped in texas, but all recently... spaceland and san marcos.. I doubt that is anything that you are looking for.. good stories though:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent. -
that seems to be the general consensus from talking with others.. I have also talked to some peeps that do aff that do quite different settings more for thier students (or when to direct a student to do something) than for thier own benefit... -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I jump a cf2 at 1.85 and I started with 350 jumps.. I have gotten alot of ridicule on here about it, but as long as you are safe and have ample training then it shouldnt be a huge issue... just remember go back to the absolute basics when using a new canopy.. the cf2 dives a ton more than the sabre or stilletto so if you are not prepared for it you will find yourself digging out..or worse... I would say demo one that is the equivilent to what you are jumping now..then downsize ..if that is your goal... to what you are really comfortable with...be honest to yourself and dont jump the gun... when I started jumping my first canopy was a 149 crossfire with an exit weight of about 185+... the crossfire has an excellent flare and you will also notice it doesnt turn as fast as a stilletto.. but the dive on the otherhand... well I havent jumped anything that dives more (and I havent jumped crossbraced) just take it easy...the concept is the same on landing (which you should already be familiar with if you are thinking of downsizing)...I would say as most when changing types of canopies stay the same size at first so you can simply see the difference in how that model recats to certain things at the same wingload, then if you are going for more speed/distance/ smaller gear... well you get the picture.. be safe and have fun.. btw if you talk to simon at icarus tell him yoshi says hi! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

yeah that sounds kinda fun...but you know me I mainly freefly, so it would be a shame to be the one that goes low on a big way on my 500th! maybe we can put together a nice hybrid.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I fugured as much that it would be close to that...especially in the first few years when people dont know how good I am... but like I said my wife is keen on it and she brings home the real bacon...so once I get a few things in line it may not be that bad... how could jumping for a living be bad anyways??? -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

groupies welcome.. your dont have to run around topless either.. not that I would mind the occasional bra being thrown at me, but I to get to that point you would have to really REALLY be into my music...its not the flaming hair, bra throwing, crowd surfing, mosh pit, ass grabbin type music... its pretty chill (well I do have a few songs that people could go a little more wild to:) -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

usually I set mine for 5k, 3.5k and 1.5k... my logic is that at 5 k gives me a sec to look around for breakoff and tracking (on 3 way or less with compitent fliers) 3.5 gives me time to come out of my track and wave off before pulling, and if I hear the 1.5k screaming I know I need something out now... how about you? -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
-
I am under the same concept... the thing I have found odd though is at spaceland people tend to break off a little higher that in the mid west... on 2 and 3 ways I am used to beaking off around 4.5k where here its like 5k... not that much of a difference, especially at feefly speeds, and I dont really mind the extra time just in case I need it. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

well I have 497 now and plan to do jump 500 this weekend.. any fun suggestions? I am also planning on getting my tandem rating soon...I have all qualifications accept the jump numbers at this point.. here is a question for you professional tandem masters.. how much $$ on average do you make per year??? luckily I am married to a sugar momma that is keen on the idea of me being an instructor, but I want to have some kind of income to show for my work... I know it isnt the most lucritive position, just curious on average what you folks are making on average.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

Well as many of you know I just relocated to the houston area.. I am looking to start a band (not a cover band) playing my original music. it is kinda of folky/ alternative...it has a "chick rock" kind of feel aka jewel, sara mclaughlin, indigo girls.... if you play any instruments, or know someone who does please email me if you want to get together and see if things work out. I am going into a recording studio this weekend to put some tracks down and would like some more instruments to make my music have a more "full" sound to it. hope to jam with you soon! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

yeah...I actually used type E on the second one I made.. it still has needed a few extra seems put in from time to time, but the tube has about 35 jumps on it now and is still holding up strong.. in fact last weekend we did a 9 way hybrid with the tube in the middle of a 4 way base.. ask jason about it..it was really cool... maybe I can stop frame some shots from the video and put them on here sometime.. take it sleasy -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

I am sure there are still some out there.. I cant remember names or anything, but when I was looking I jsut broke down and made my own. it ended up much to my favor as I learned a few things on a sewing machine and I have a great 18 footer that is so much fun to fly... not to mention it only cost me like $30 or so for all of the materials.. I know that there is a bright orange tube for sale in the gear store in skydive spaceland... its professionally made...give m a ring.. -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

my tip: eat a healthy breakfeast... not only will it give you energy for the day it can be TASTY too! -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.

That sounds like an excellent recipe... LOL and do they use different set-ups for fun rather than competition jumps.. if so what?? and why?? as most of us have some rituals (such as every time a load I am on takes off I kiss my fingers and press them agains the plain...gotta give the plane some love) do they have anything they do before or after each jump? and ... ever wish you jumped icarus? -yoshi _________________________________________ this space for rent.
