***If it takes an act of congress to make him and his offspring stop, I > don't have a problem with that. Congress wouldn't do it; the Taliban would. They believe in legislating morality. >I don't need to nor would I ever protest at a funeral. Its WRONG. I agree 100%. It is wrong, and they shouldn't do it. They do have the _right_ to do it though. And as our military ordinarily fights and dies for that right, we should honor their sacrifice by respecting that right (even if we don't respect the people abusing that right.) *** Its wrong Bill. So you are the type that would go do something, even though it just plane WRONG, because you can. That's a sad way to go through life. j j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

What beverage are you currently addicted to?
jlmiracle replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
Diet Pepsi. I have to have my Diet Pepsi. I drink 4-6 cans a day. I can somewhat cope without it, but not very well. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. -
i've also heard this and i disagree with the new laws for a couple reasons: 1)on the surface they seem to limit free speech and, although i'm no lawyer, seem Unconsititutional. 2)the new laws would give Phelps a new platform to sue, getting his organization more media coverage and a sense of legitimacy. So you are okay with his actions? If it takes an act of congress to make him and his offspring stop, I don't have a problem with that. I don't need to nor would I ever protest at a funeral. Its WRONG. Doesn't matter who is dead. Its just wrong. I can't believe you are KINDA defending this guy. Is your last name Phelps? j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Some states are trying to pass legislations so it would be illegal to protest at funerals. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I guess cause we are better than this turd. Aside from the fuckers that are responsible for 9/11, I don't think I have ever hated anyone so much. His only followers are his family. I'm hoping the gene pool gets cleansed soon in a legal manner, of course. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Frontier Sky Divers MOST Expensive place to train
jlmiracle replied to JohnElliott's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Dude, you cannot afford to skydive. There is a reason skydiving is as expensive as it is, to keep people like you out! j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. -
Most gas stations are 2.09-2.11. I paid 1.999 at costco yesterday. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I recently acquired a Miss Kitty that was dumped around my house. She showed up in the rain all sad and pathetic looking so we caved in and gave her a can of tuna. She looked nearly starved. After closer inspection it appears someone decided to give this cat a haircut too. This is my first cat ever. Never thought I could become attached to a cat, but she suckered me right in and I am slightly allergic, but I guess I will just deal with it. Started out leaving her in the garage when it got cold, plus as I was trying to feed her outside some larger cats would come and eat her food. She is now in the house (and bed). Vet said she is about 1-1 1/2 years old. Got her fixed last week. J Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Then they should have to provide the supervision. If its too much to ask from your D licensed jumpers then you will have to find another way. Its really sad though they wouldn't help out. Maybe you are bringing it to the attention of the wrong Board members? There are some good guys and gals on the BOD, but SEVERAL have their own agenda and will pretend to be concerned about your concerns, but really aren't. We really need to re-think about who we vote for and why. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

WOW! Responses to BOD notes posting
jlmiracle replied to MikeTJumps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It was tried and failed horribly because of the people on here. No one was willing to discuss. All they did was yell and scream all call people names (not the BOD, but the posters). Why can't you send an e-mail to your regional director or to the whole board with your thoughts and concerns. And if you do, don't get pissed if they don't agree. If you want it your way try burger king. Ever picked up a phone and call them? Ever been to a BOD meeting? As has been stated here many times, its an unpaid job, they know it and so do you. If you don't like it elect someone else that WILL do your bidding. Not everyone reads dz.com. Not all jumpers and not all bod. USPA publishes a magazine that is sent to every single member. I don't know a much better way to make sure each member as an opportunity to get involved. Less than 10% of the membership actually votes. Its very sad and pathetic that 90% of the membership doesn't give a shit who runs the show. Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. -

Why not just get dz.com become the new USPA. Hey since all the answers here why do we need the USPA at all. Just make dz.com an association that can offer 3rd party liability insurance, deal with the government, handle all the competition, etc.... WOW! Responses to BOD notes posting
jlmiracle replied to MikeTJumps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Very very good point. At the last summer BOD meeting a few Board members were slightly uninformed on a few issues because they don't and admitted to not checking their e-mails. I think now would be a good time for someone to put together a list of what would makes a good Board member. I think most have been elected because its a name people are familiar with, not because they are doing a good job or are looking out for the best interests of the MAJORITY of the skydivers. What I've seen lately in skydiving or at least reading some of the forums, is the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many. I would like to see that changed. There are good BOD members but there are too many bad ones that keep getting elected and that's why things don't change or get better. Some good ones that get elected quit out of frustration after the first or second term, some are still hanging in there. WOW! Responses to BOD notes posting

I think that would be a great idea. Unfortunatly headquarters is slightly understaffed they way it is, and not all BOD have or uses a computer. I know for a fact, (skybytch is not one) that most of the people on here bitching and whinning DON'T contact the BOD with their concerns or suggestions. What's kinda funny (but not really) is the BOD probably got more e-mails on saving skyboarding then they have on canopy issues. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. -
It would be impossible to get a real D license only doing Hop N Pops. Unless, of course, someone was just signing them off. A D license does require 3 hours of FREEFALL time not to mention the freefall manuvers required. Emergency procedures better have been covered in their FJC. Coaches should be able to review EP's, but I don't think you need to have a cutaway to review EP's. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

You changed your tune since the last BOD meeting. I remember standing outside with you and another BOD and you said that you didnt' do anything for free. and something to the effect that you shouldn't have to "give back" to the sport. j' Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Bikers roll to military funerals to oppose anti-gay protests
jlmiracle replied to jlmiracle's topic in Speakers Corner
FORT CAMPBELL, Kentucky (AP) -- Wearing vests covered in military patches, a band of motorcyclists rolls around the country from one soldier's funeral to another, cheering respectfully to overshadow jeers from church protesters. They call themselves the Patriot Guard Riders, and they are more than 5,000 strong, forming to counter anti-gay protests held by the Rev. Fred Phelps at military funerals. Phelps believes American deaths in Iraq are divine punishment for a country that he says harbors homosexuals. His protesters carry signs thanking God for so-called IEDs -- explosives that are a major killer of soldiers in Iraq. The bikers shield the families of dead soldiers from the protesters, and overshadow the jeers with patriotic chants and a sea of red, white and blue flags. "The most important thing we can do is let families know that the nation cares," said Don Woodrick, the group's Kentucky captain. "When a total stranger gets on a motorcycle in the middle of winter and drives 300 miles to hold a flag, that makes a powerful statement." At least 14 states are considering laws aimed at the funeral protesters, who at a recent memorial service at Fort Campbell wrapped themselves in upside-down American flags. They danced and sang impromptu songs peppered with vulgarities that condemned homosexuals and soldiers. The Patriot Guard was also there, waving up a ruckus of support for the families across the street. Community members came in the freezing rain to chant "U-S-A, U-S-A" alongside them. "This is just the right thing to do. This is something America didn't do in the '70s," said Kurt Mayer, the group's national spokesman. "Whether we agree with why we're over there, these soldiers are dying to protect our freedoms." Shirley Phelps-Roper, a daughter of Fred Phelps and an attorney for the Topeka, Kansas-based church, said neither state laws nor the Patriot Guard can silence their message that God killed the soldiers because they fought for a country that embraces homosexuals. "The scriptures are crystal clear that when God sets out to punish a nation, it is with the sword. An IED is just a broken-up sword," Phelps-Roper said. "Since that is his weapon of choice, our forum of choice has got to be a dead soldier's funeral." The church, Westboro Baptist Church, is not affiliated with a larger denomination and is made up mostly of Fred Phelps' extended family members. During the 1990s, church members were known mostly for picketing the funerals of AIDS victims, and they have long been tracked as a hate group by the Montgomery, Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Project. The project's deputy director, Heidi Beirich, said other groups have tried to counter Phelps' message, but none has been as organized as the Patriot Guard. "I'm not sure anybody has gone to this length to stand in solidarity," she said. "It's nice that these veterans and their supporters are trying to do something. I can't imagine anything worse, your loved one is killed in Iraq and you've got to deal with Fred Phelps." Kentucky, home to sprawling Fort Campbell along the Tennessee line, was among the first states to attempt to deal with Phelps legislatively. Its House and Senate have each passed bills that would limit people from protesting within 300 feet of a funeral or memorial service. The Senate version would also keep protesters from being within earshot of grieving friends and family members. Richard Wilbur, a retired police detective, said his Indiana Patriot Guard group only comes to funerals if invited by family. He said he has no problem with protests against the war but sees no place for objectors at a family's final goodbye to a soldier. "No one deserves this," he said. _________________________________________________ I thought this was awesome that these bikers do this but it sucks because they have to because of that stupid turd Rev.
