Mike, I'm from a Cessna DZ, but have made jumps at big DZs from as soon as I got my license. I travel occaisionally with work and always take my rig, I am always almost the first out since I'm solo, so I've checked the spot more than once. Tdog said to expect to exit earlier than you are used to. He's right. If you wait until the spot's just right, you'll screw the whole load. I looked at your profile. Looks like you'll be able to hang in brakes and land almost last, even if you get out first. That's what I always do and typically land after the swoopers and before the tandems, even when I get out first. That's well within my comfort zone. The first couple of times I jumped at "big city" drop zones I was pretty nervous. Now I love it. Don't be too proud to let folks know you're a newbie from out of town. It's a good way to learn the ropes and meet the locals.

Excellent. That settles it for me. THANKS!!

Are you sure that the PS3 upconverts standard DVDs? It's not mentioned on their website.

I see. When you're at the range, just run a cleaning patch through it from time to time. I just meant you shouldn't store it dirty.

You can get a little tiny LED light that you can drop down the barrel for inspection. But first, shine a light into the breech vent and look down the muzzle. If you can't see light, it may be loaded. You have to clean it every time you take it out to shoot, Really, you do.

Muzzleloaders are very difficult to clean and it is critical that you get them clean because the powder residue is corrosive. Use a mixture of: 1/6th Murphy's Oil Soap 1/6 water 1/3 rubbing alchohol 1/3 hydrogen peroxide (the kind you pour on cuts, not the kind you bleach your hair with) Remove the barrel from the gun. Hold your thumb over the nipple and fill the barrel about half full. Hold your other thumb over the muzzle and swish the solution back & forth in the barrel for about one minute. Pour it out and follow up with patches soaked in the solution until the patches come out clean. Nothing works better or faster. In fact, most anything you buy in the store doesn't work very well. Don't substitute any other kind of soap for the Murphy's Oil Soap. If you mix detergent with the hydrogen peroxide it will cause rust.

I beg to differ...the PS3 is backwards compatable with most PS 1 and 2 games ..... Giving it a freaking hugh selection Be advised that only the more expensive 80gb version is backwards compatible.

My thoughts, exactly.

It does. Thanks.

Here is my intent: To reduce the living room space consumed by my TV and associate electronic devices. I really want a minimalist setup for TV/Gaming/Music I'm more concerned with hi-def video and less concerned with high fidelity audio. With that in mind, I'm wanting to get a flat panel TV, and a Playstation 3 to play DVDs and music CDs. Question 1: Can I hook up powered speakers to the Playstation in order to avoid a separate amplifier? Question 2: Will the Playstation "upconvert" normal DVDs to 1080p? I've read conflicting reports on this. They Sony website does not mention it, so I assume it does not. However, many TVs will upconvert on their own. Question 3: What else am I not thinking of?

Bonus: Shotguns are relatively inexpensive.

I don't care how many times I see House, Hugh Laurie will always be Bertie Wooster, to me.

I rented a Prius last week, out of curiosity. It was an awesome car. I would not hesitate to buy one, now. On a related note: Bill, I assume you've seen Who Killed the Electric Car? Can you comment on the veracity of the documentary? I have not seen it, but plan to.

My dropzone is going to close, Cal-City

I stopped in last Sunday for the first time and did a 4-way with Philly, Tim, & Mike. Best jump ever, for me. That's no surprise, considering the caliber of the guys I was jumping with. Also, I got to spend some time with Patti and Antoinette. You'll never meet a nicer bunch. I was really looking forward to going back to spend a few days. I feel fortunate that I got to jump there. -
What's a better analogy for Wuffos?

When you say it, be sure to put the emphasis on "I" -
It's storm surge rather than a tsunami.

Fantastic service from Larsen and Brusgaard once again

I hear so much about L & B's customer service. Sounds to me like they need to source better quality injection molded plastic. -
Folks, you're missing the point. The T-shirt portrays the Indians as "Homeland Security" and the invading Whites as terrorists.

What's this WE bullshit, Darius?

I remember using a rotary dial phone to call the operator to make a long distance call. You couldn't dial long distance yourself. Does anyone remember the jingle that Bell Telephone had when they came out with "1 plus" dialing for long distance?

Wow. That paragraph sounds really dorky all by itself. I hate posting in public forums! lol It's not dorky at all. I think a lot of us started with the same frame of mind. -
WACO. That's right. Thanks!
