    What A Night

Nice dude! Glad to hear you're tearing it up over the winter season. Cya in the spring bro.
  3. My piece of advice is to buy your gear one piece at a time. You should be able to put a really nice rig together for a great price. Also, you could start buying the inexpensive (ha!) parts first. Goggles, altimeter, helmet, jumpsuit.. you're going to need those just as much as a rig, might as well buy them now!
  4. First heard it from a stoner friend in freshman year of High School.. than I became really good friends with him. Yup, it was 4:20 a whole lot in high school.
  5. What I do for front riser 360s is pull on both dive loops and then gradually let one up, along with some harness input. Gets me into a real nice, fast diving 360. Fun stuff to do up high. I stop all front riser stuff at 1500 feet.
  6. I wonder if this was something that a gear check could've prevented. I mean, I doubt we'll hear any real details about the type of sabotage that was done to the rig, but it makes me wonder..
  7. I have a Bonehead Mindwarp size small and it fits my tiny head perfect. When I first saw the helmet, I even thought it was going to be too small! The thing is tiny, but it fits me great. Good luck.
  8. How do you like the Diamondback? I've heard it doesn't hold up all that great, and have seen a container where it is starting to show some wear.
  9. Ha! Don't forget who was on top in those rodeo dives buddy..
  10. I've never had any issues with jumping with more experienced jumpers. Since I've had my A License I've never had trouble finding someone (or multiple people) to jump with. It seems to be the case with all of the new jumpers. I know for sure that I have no problem jumping with newly licensed skydivers. Besides helping them feel included, it will give me some experience as well.
  11. Yeah, could be the placement of the bag in the tray. Could be the reason why the closing loop was so long in the first place - it had to be because maybe the lines weren't completely to the bottom. You could try opening it, repositioning the bag and reclosing it to see how it looks. Eh, just a suggestion. Worth a shot, though.
  12. Very nice. I like the rims. How's the gas mileage so far?

I don't have a pic.. you'll just have to wait and watch the show
  14. Didn't feel different while actually smoking it. Afterwards, though, wasn't cool.
  15. So my friend picks me up the other day and was all excited about these new papers that he found. He pulls one out and I'm like.. dude, I'm not smoking a piece of plastic. He goes on and on about how they are all natural, made of cellulose and all of this crap. Ok, I bit the bullet and I smoked the thing (with tobacco inside, of course..) It was interesting. No taste, no smell. Burnt for a while. But afterwards.. Jesus, I was not right. My leg was twitching out of control and I didn't feel right for a coule of hours. That doesn't happen with ordinary papers. Will never smoke one again.
  16. Yup, the container is from 2001. Wings aren't very popular where I jump. I've only seen three of them at the DZ. One of them has a pilot chute with a plastic (orange) handle, the other two have hackies.
  17. I'm not giving advice, just stating my opinion.. A PD260 is quite a canopy. It's large, docile and F-111. Yet, you are 230 pounds out the door. You asked if it is possible to get bored under canopy. My answer? Absolutely. If you were like I was at 44 jumps, than you aren't doing a whole lot of maneuvers under canopy. Trashing the canopy on rears, diving 360s on front risers, spirals on toggles.. I wasn't doing any of this stuff at 44 jumps. In fact, I wasn't a big fan of the canopy ride in general. Now, at almost 100 jumps, I LOVE being under canopy. I pull high just so I can have some extra time to mess around and really learn what my canopy will do. On an old PD260, I don't see a whole lot of room for the fun stuff. Plus like you said, good luck getting much glide out of that thing. This could possibly burn you on a windy day. Best thing to do, and you've heard and read this, is talk with your instructors. Noone is required to downsize. You could jump that canopy for the rest of your skydiving career and have no problems (as long as you maintain it!). But, will staying on that canopy forever make you a good canopy pilot? Maybe not. And will you get bored after a while? Probably. Discuss your options with your instructors and just start saving. Nothing wrong with jumping the 260 for a while. Once you get the money to buy a new to you canopy, go for it. And if you have a chance to demo any canopies in-between that time, DO IT! Only thing.. once you demo another canopy, you will probably start to find a lot of things wrong with the 260 Good luck.
  18. He is missing the point. As I said in one of my replies - if jumping from planes isn't exciting enough for you, than find another sport dude. Don't make ours look bad by making very bad choices that could've easily have been avoided by simply not trying to be such a 'bad ass'. The way that he called his quest for going in as "ambitious" and calling it his "goal" is way beyond me. I can see one of your goals being to get to a smaller canopy. Great, that's your goal. You have plenty of time to get really good and reach your goal. But what he is doing is just.. ridiculous. It amazes me that his instructors/S&TA are letting him jump it, though. That's what makes me wonder if he is just trying to stir the pot or if he was serious. I don't know, his whole attitude and the way that he looks at DZ.com is beyond me. Here are people that have poured their heart and soul into this sport and want to see young jumpers and newbies make it to thousands of jumps. He sees it as nagging him and preventing him from reaching his 'goals'. I don't know. I, too, feel bad for him.

Got mine from Kat Von D. She was the coolest one there. Ami was surprisingly cool was well. Chris Garver.. well, not so cool.
  20. Yeah, it makes sense for the handle to be directly connected to the pilot chute instead of having all of that extra slack. I'm gonna see how it works for me on a few jumps and make the decision to keep it or change it.
  21. I recently got a Wings container (used) and the pilot chute is something that neither of my riggers or myself have ever seen. The handle is that of a pull out system, but the pin is on the bridle like it is with a normal collapsible pilot chute. There's a pretty large space between the handle itself and the pilot chute. That is, the material that connects the handle to the pilot chute is pretty long. There's a BOC pouch, so that also eliminates the thought of it being a pull out. Is this normal? My rigger said it looked like a Wings original but it is definitely unusual. Anyone ever seen anything like this? It's being assembled right now so I can't take a picture. Belinda, want to upload a pic?
  22. Dude! That's a sweet container. Never seen those colors put together before. Very nice.
