  3. Poor thing. Not only am I jumping, but I'm flying all the way back home to do it. And getting to push the boyfriend out the door for his first tandem (that's beer for him, not me!) Lookout Chicago, here I come! In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal

  5. There's a big difference between being nice and being walked on. You're currently allowing yourself to be the latter. As for working two weeks notice, do you really think your CEO will give you two weeks notice before the doors close forever? More likely, you'll show up for work one day and there'll be a chain on the door. So you shouldn't feel obligated to give him any notice either. By continuing to go to work every day, you're (1) taking away from time which would be better spent looking for another job and (2) continuing to invest time and effort in what you know will never pay. You're 30% above norm isn't above norm anymore. Just average in all the time you've spent without pay and now you're back down in the Labour Class again (poking fun at Brit socioeconomics) I've been in similar situations, bro. Just cut your losses and get the hell out of there -- today! I found that living in a trailer and jumping every day was a very satisfying career change. You'll even get used to daily hot dogs & peanut butter after awhile. In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal
  6. They require work, you require pay. I'd tell them to get bent unless they come up with some cash. In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal

  16. Sounds like a great skydive to me! You exited the plane, freefell, had a good opening, and landed in the same number of pieces you started with. All the rest is just finesse. Relax, and enjoy - the reason you have jumpmasters is you're supposed to be LEARNING. If you already knew all this stuff, you wouldn't need them, would you? Congratulations on your first AFF (BEEEEERRRRRR!!!!) Now get back in the plane and do the rest of them. We'll see you on your own in the skies in no time! The Vote

I vote at EVERY election. But I don't believe that my vote counts any more than I believe any politician gives a rats ass what I think. Our government ceased to be "representative" before I was born. You have to have money and the power that goes with it if you expect to hold office. That's what wins elections. My vote goes into a box and then I never see it again. I don't know who supposedly counts it, nor would I trust them anyway. Government is business. The rich have always survived off the poor and the poor are lulled into complacency by becoming convinced that they're not poor and that the "dream" is reachable. Give me a nice house and a Beemer and send my kids to college and I'll believe I'm living the dream. Somehow I'll lose sight of the fact that I don't know my spouse, my kids are on drugs, and I'm one small step from living in a cardboard box. But that's okay, because I vote and President Bush really cares about me. In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal

  25. That's awesome! Zurich is so cool. My experience has been that the jumping is a little different. First, very few people outside the big cities speak English. German is helpful, but the Swiss speak their own version of German, so even proper German (called high-German) isn't widely used. Second, they have a whole different licensing structure - they very often don't recognize US licensing. But it's a beautiful country, so if you can get to see it from 14K, go for it. And the food and beer is awesome, too! In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal
