I guess my dog would do just fine then. Chris Scaife

It sounds like a pretty greedy person to say that if you don't jump there you can't jump anywhere around there. Perhaps if people quit working for those who force them to sign things like this they would fail in the long run. There are plenty of places to work and jump that do not attempt to enslave people. How about any of those POS farmer McNastys out there suing because people have landed on there land, with no damage? Chris Scaife

He is a great guy overall. He doesn't like fire though. He shot mine one night. Chris Scaife -
Way to go man. With that body position it looks like the next step would be to take the AFF program and become a skydiver. Great job on landing also. Hope to see you in the sky someday. Chris Scaife

After you have been fully trained and through student status then you should visit other DZs. It all depends on what you are looking for. As someone already said there are DZs that you will go to and sit around alone with nobody to talk to or jump with due to the cliques and skygods not interested in new jumpers. There are also those DZs that welcome new jumpers and invite them to jump at every chance. I am lucky to be part of one of those DZs. Skydive Houston has a great vibe that is hard to beat. Those who aren't there during the week start showing up Friday nights to hang out, eat and drink beer. Saturday we organize different jumps throughout the day specifically to help each-other get better at flying and then every Saturday night there is someone cooking up grub for everyone while we converse, swim in our pool, drink beer, and above all, include everyone as if they were family. I am sure there is a dropzone like this near you. Chris Scaife

What to do about ignorance.

When he is better and ready to jump he is going to jump his old canopy, which he has a hard time with anyway, and we will see how that goes. If he is being anything other than conservative and/or smart then I will personally speak with him and go from there. I thank everyone for their advice. Chris Scaife -

Well said Dave. I am glad you had fun. The winds screwed us but there will be more in the future. Perhaps more organizing of different things and contests etc etc. Chris Scaife -
Today, Tennessee State law says No to Skyride!
pairashooter replied to Jumpdude's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The issue is that not all drop zones can agree. While one or two may say they will not use them, there is the other guy that wants that money and will still use them. If everyone can come to an agreement then they will be shut down fast. If not, someone will take the business. Chris Scaife -

What should be done about someone who is hot headed and does not like to listen to anyone regarding safety. I know someone who recently injured himself under a parachute that he does not completely know how to fly yet. He has already ordered his new, smaller canopy for when he is back in the air. Attempts to push him in the right direction have been met with disregard by this jumper. What do you think should be done? Chris Scaife -
If I could get away from my everyday work routine I would definately go spend my money at WFFC 2009 or 2010.

This boogie was indeed a success. I want to thank everyone for coming out and jumping and partying with us. We hope you all had a great time and look forward to seeing you again. Did anyone forget their tent? There was a tent still set up that we put in the hangar. Chris Scaife
