  1. Also, since I am sure you are opening pretty high, practice flaring in the air. Experiment with how you are holding your arms compared to your body. Since those student canopies are usually so big I found it easier to gain more leverage if I bring my arms out a little instead of straight down. I always experiment in the air and try to visualize my landings. Good luck!
  2. Im 5'11"... Yep, buying pants (and shopping for a used jumpsuit
  3. I used to feel the same way. Wasn't gonna buy into the hype. They couldn't possibly be worth reading if the whole world was so into them. And then someone tricked me into listening to the first one on a road trip a couple years ago... You have no idea what you're missing. They really are that good. Yep, I used to make fun of them, too. Read one on a flight to Ohio a few years ago...liked it so much I bought the second in the airport gift shop...
  4. Damn..beat me to it... I go to Wal-Mart to wait in line...everyone else is at Barnes & Noble...
  5. No midnight skydiving with just an "A" license...
  6. New and final Harry Potter book coming out on July 21! I know what I'll be doing at midnight on July 20...
  7. "Is there more to life than just being really, really, really, ridiculously good-looking?" "This job would be great if it weren't for the fucking customers." "If im not back in 5 minutes...just wait longer."
  8. " I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop to look once in awhile, you could miss it." "We waste our lives working at jobs we hate to buy shit we don't need."
  9. Thanks everyone!! I appreciate all the advice...I found a lot of it really helpful. After my intro I started with my gear and what it does, emphasizing the main, canopy, and AAD. Then I took them through a basic skydive. Then I finished with why it is so important to me and how it changed my life. Mine was the most original of all the presentations by far.
  10. ...you guys rock!! I got 5 responses from fellow skydivers (some of who don't even know me) when I pleaded to borrow some gear to show at work when I gave my presentation on Tuesday. It really reminds me of how close-knit the skydiving community is. Looks like I owe 5 jump tickets when I meet you on the dropzone one day.
  11. For those of you who I have not had the privilage to meet yet, my name is Melissa and I am a newbie that skydives in San Marcos and Temple. I only have 37 jumps so with the exception of some goggles and an altimeter, I have no equiptment yet. Anyway, tomorrow I have to give a presentation for work on skydiving. I had it all planned out. I asked a fellow jumper if I could borrow a jumpsuit, helmet, and a rig (or even just a container) to wear while I talk and he said "sure, pick it up on Monday." Well, I tried to call and he is not answering his phone. I know it is a strange request but does anyone have some things I can borrow just for tomorrow. I will pay your next jump ticket and I will guard these things with my life!
  12. I know...I really wasnt going to show just a video...I like to talk too much to just do that!!
  13. I mentioned to my boss the other day about how it has given me confidence that I never even knew I could have and he said I should work that into the presentation...
  14. That's what I was leaning towards...I think both of those are really important... Now that I got my A license everyone keeps asking if they can jump strapped to me...I try to tell them that 37 jumps really is not enough...
  15. Okay, so I have to give a presentation at work and of course I picked...SKYDIVING!!! (Like there is really anything else to talk about...

  17. What are you talking about? I think you look great...very radiant!
  18. Yes I am. I could use the extra cash and if people want to buy it then why not?
  19. Umm...I make more than 6.50 an hour and I bought one. That's like saying everyone that jumps out of an airplane has a death wish. I would personally never buy a 700 purse either but some people do. To each his own, I guess.
