  1. I probably can't be there until about 9...considering around a 70 minute drive. Are they open late and you really going to be there A WHILE? [sarcasm]I would be just so honored to meet DZ.com legends hookitt and BillVon.[/sarcasm]
  2. This is definitely wrong and does not apply to the question being answered. The vast majority of work sponsored Health Insurance policies DO NOT individually underwrite employees. Personal Life Insurance policies are a different matter though. For health, it may be a good idea to wait that few weeks gap, but otherwise don't worry about it!
  3. Nope. Just wanted to. I already done a bungy jump, paraglide and parasail. A group of people from work went to do a tandem, so I said "I'm there!".
  4. Although I would be very naughty to drive all that far (and , ahem....drink), what is "a while"?
  5. Weather permitting, if you stop by Davis, look me up. If it's nice I'll probably be out there both days. But I think the weather gods plan to continue to conspire against us for the next week or so. Yeah, they've been REALLY evil. Besides JUST WANTING TO JUMP (although I have been busy with other things as well), I need to get my world record suit back from Pete. Tell him that I'll get there sometime in the near future.
  6. So....you need to pigeon-hole everyone into a specific camp or position? I've read that we have actually been coming out of a mini-ice age for around 150 years now. If so, that probably explains a good percentage of the global warming. Now...to look at Al Gore's recent remarks about it all being the Republican administration's fault? He's a jackass. Should we make our best efforts though to consume less, recycle more, find alternative renewable energy sources and increase efficiencies? Most definitely.
  7. $241/Month, NorCal wine country, 26-27 years old units. HOA dues pay for: common areas, structural Property Insurance (you own from the studs inside technically speaking), roofing, exterior paint, fence repairs. I guess their fair enough. My only real gripe is no access to the sauna in the winter time, as the "pool area" is denied access for at least 6 months of the year and the bathrooms have the saunas inside and are behind the gate.
  8. I ran one of the largest DZs in the world for a few years. We didn't require AADs, but we did require proper training. We had several fatalities, and none of them would have been prevented by an AAD. IMHO, requiring AADs is a waste of time and makes no business sense whatsoever, unless you're in the business of selling them. It's a pointless argument though. DZO's are free to make whatever decisions they like, even when it drives perfectly good safe and current jumpers elsewhere. One thing I like about you Brits - you get to the point and are concise about it.
  9. Craigslist for dating.... (sorry, I couldn't help myself).
  10. When mine actually arrives, I'll be all over that pretty face.
  11. Of course it is his decision - I never said the contrary, but it still remains that it is possibly an irrational choice base on historical fatalities/injuries. Don't we all try to point out fault reasoning to our boss, colleagues or business partners? Yes, they may still have to authority to stick with decisions or opinions that may not be the wisest - and possibly suffer consequences as well (e.g. regulatory violations/missed revenue opportunities/whatever).
  12. Why don't you talk to one of these DZOs about the fatality that caused them to decide to make AADs mandatory? Not all of them do, for a wide variety of reasons. But if you talk to a DZO who has lived through a fatality that an AAD would have prevented, you might see it differently. I do think jumpers have a right to decide for themselves. But I also think that DZOs have the same right. I don't see any way to make an argument for the former that is more compelling than the argument for the latter. rl And again, you go back to the arguement about hookturns and then you have to circle back to my prevous post. Think about it (my previous post).
  13. Sure, but isn't the point that DZOs who require AADs are being irrationally restrictive from both a safety, customer service and economic point of view? Unless the DZO has some special knowledge of the pool of jumpers in the area, the liklihood of someone splatting from no ADD is no different from any other DZ around.
  14. TAN: Anyone know when 707s were built (age range) and when they were put out of regular circulation? I remember flying in one sometime in the early to mid 80s.
  15. Adreniline Air Skydiving in Santa Rosa, CA is no more as well.
  16. Well, she is your sister, so maybe a toast would be in order. No, you probably don't really have to do anything but smile and find a place to sit for the guests. You might be seated at the table for the wedding party at the reception. And then it's your call if you want to act like a gentleman or a jackass. Usually it is best take the high road in most business and social circumstances.
  17. I saw this movie once where a guy skydived and landed by Buckingham palace, so I'm sure there is a DZ in London. No reason not to believe everything that happens in a James Bond movie is true.
  18. Has to be silver (i.e. $0.05 or more) to be worth the bother (the bother of space in wallet and effort to pick it up).
  19. Yeah, but she had the weird 80's look then.
  20. I don't get it either - but she just is! By most standards, she certainly doesn't look like no supermodel, but....somehow she is smokin'!! I think it is the Robert Plant "Simply Irresistible" look in the back of our minds that compels us. Anyway, I've always been a fan of her's. Hottest I can think of? When Arnie made her dance in the hotel room in True Lies.
  21. I thought grue's sleeping thread was funny... O....M......G! My abs might be sore tomorrow from laughing.
  22. Getting a new canopy is motivation to WANT to pack it? You sound sadistic.
