Just one opinion, remember. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Very good yes HDV: yes. 720p: to edit in FCP. 1080p: in a pinch. Yep. The MBP is sort of a tweener computer right now. It's waiting for the Merom chip from Intel [64 bit] to become a true "pro" laptop. Right now it's a low-end pro laptop... because there really isn't any high end yet. The MB is a very fast machine and it's very capable. But you have to remember that it is a consumer machine. Don't expect to run Motion or do any compositing or any high-end editing. Don't expect it to run games very well. But for what it is... it's fantastic. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Super Circuits I really don't know what I'm talking about.

I do stand corrected, I was merely speaking from personal experience and brief research. I, too, work with HD and 2K footage daily. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

The thing about "HD" screens on laptops [read: PCs that claim as much] is that they use pixel blending. In english, the computer creates a high resolution interface [lets say 1920x1200] and the graphics processor scales it down to the screen's physical resolution [say 1440x900]. So while you're getting the workspace of a high-resolution screen, you're getting a blurry, crappy mess. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

I'd recommend you drive to a local Apple Store or find a friend who has Aperture you can fiddle around with. $300 for a program that you don't have any direct experience with is risky... I really don't know what I'm talking about.

They are two different products that serve two different purposes. Aperture is primarily for organizing photos with a few editing features. Photoshop is a picture editor without notable organization features. They should be used together, in my opinion. One cannot replace another. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

No skydiving helmet does. If you want any sort of compression help get a foam filled Pro-tec. It might not be the most fashionable, but it's the best decelerator when you hit your head on an immovable object. ltdiver Agreed. I've seen some canopy pilots wear Motocross helmets, that's about it. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Got any pics for us? I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm glad this thread has gone the way it has. It's certainly cleared some stuff up for me... and I know I'm not the only person out there who doesn't know jack. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Question. What was I feeling during my tandem?

From a technical perspective, how does the Strong rig avoid the trapdoor effect as compared to RWS? I really don't know what I'm talking about. -
Question. What was I feeling during my tandem?
MB38 replied to niolosoiale's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Correct, perhaps I wasn't clear enough. Its purpose is exactly as you described it up until deployment. As soon as deployment is initiated, the drogue effectively becomes a pilot chute for the main. This is what I meant... the drogue is released [meaning it is released from its stabilization duties] to deploy the main [it magically becomes a PC]. For my posts' sakes, "drogue release" is when the ripcord is pulled, not when the drogue is pitched just after exit. I could be using incorrect terminology. Correct me if I'm wrong. I really don't know what I'm talking about. -
Thanks for clarifying, Iiro. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

If you do a quick search you'll find very few negative opinions about BoneHead's hats. The thing to know is that they are designed for fashion... they offer no real impact protection. If you catch a foot to the dome or hit your head on exit it'll help... but they aren't designed for serious impact. They're just cool audible holders/camera holders... like most skydiving helmets. I have an Optik and love it. I also don't have anything to compare it to... so it must be the best ever [just because I bought it!]. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Question. What was I feeling during my tandem?
MB38 replied to niolosoiale's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This is my understanding of what you might have been feeling, I may be mistaken. Tandems are effectively "supported" under a drogue. The drogue slows the pair to about 120mph instead of ~180mph. This drogue is released to deploy the main canopy. When the drogue is released and the main is being pulled out of the container to linestretch, the tandem pair will suddenly accelerate. Because there is no longer a drogue slowing them down [as it is busy pulling the canopy out], the pair will accelerate and appear to drop. This acceleration is probably what caused that feeling you're reporting. The acceleration only lasts a moment, as the time from when the drogue is released to canopy linestretch is minimal. The next thing you would feel after the acceleration would be sudden deceleration as the canopy snivels and inflates. I could be mistaken but this is my guess. I really don't know what I'm talking about. -
Here are two pictures from Google showing the surface area of a tandem pair from underneath. If anything they have 10-15% more surface area... but twice the mass. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Anybody have pictures of the construction or a picture overlooking the edge? I've been rummaging around online and can't find anything other than those drawings. Edit: I've attached a Google Earth KML file of its location. If this counts as site naming... I'm the biggest asshole ever. I really don't know what I'm talking about.

To bring up a zombie thread, I just came across an old article from Parachutist that was a good read on the subject. I really don't know what I'm talking about.
