  1. Will there be enough beer? That's an important consideration IMO. We are all engines of karma
  2. LOL BTW EricTheRed - I got your PM and replied. Sorry for the delay, I just wasn't looking at that part of the web page. We are all engines of karma
  3. What are the Hebrew words for BEER and COOLER? How about BIGGER COOLER? We are all engines of karma
  4. His original word was in English? Ah, I'm missing something here... We are all engines of karma
  5. How did Bill Gates get into this discussion? We are all engines of karma
  6. My understanding was the Army Corp of Engineers asked for $140MM and received $100MM. We are all engines of karma

  8. When my wife and I first married, we rented a coop in New Jersey. The "HOA" required a minimum one year lease. I explicitly negotiated that out of my contract. 9 months later, when I gave my notice, the HOA claimed they were going to keep my rather large deposit. After _months_ of hassle, I discovered the owner had submitted a forged lease document that didn't have the negotiated terms (the realtor always keeps a copy of the original document). The HOA _still_ would not return my deposit. Once I had the local detectives interested in a forgery case, the owner finally returned the deposit out of his pocket, after deducting $42 for a broken plastic ice tray. They're nothing but a den of thieves. Caveat emptor. We are all engines of karma
  9. Yes, yappy dogs need to go. Maybe this can help in the short term: http://www.gooddeals.com/shopexd.asp_Q_id_E_101 My neighbor has a yappy dog. It's neglected, and she puts it outside without water, sometimes starting at 6am. All it does it bark nonstop to get back inside. I went through a phase where I would bite my tongue for 3 hours, then call her. All she did was yip at me. Finally called animal control and asked the officer to call her and explain the town's rules to her. This is still a work in progress. We are all engines of karma
  10. Yes, I have heard that in general terms it's much easier to start a fire than a flood ;) We are all engines of karma
  11. At my last contract gig (...high stress place), more than once I got on the elevator at the 38th floor, got off at the 42nd, and had no idea why I was there. Then, I'd go back to the 38th and then remember why I needed to go to the 42nd. We are all engines of karma
  12. They'll still owe their old mortgages. Plus, the soil is now rehydrated, which may cause foundations to crack. We are all engines of karma
  13. My thought exactly, the FAT table may be getting too large. Depending upon the operating system (NT or windows), you may want to use an NTFS file system. Otherwise, break them up, maybe into multiple drives (e.g., F:, G:, H:). We are all engines of karma
  14. Best idea I've heard all day. I'm a compassionate person (unless you're breaking into my house), but these folks are in for a prolonged nightmare. They're not from New Orleans any more. We are all engines of karma
  15. Maxx - this stuff is beyond belief. It simply IS. I've had several out of body experiences, all induced by intensive meditation I used to do in my life long ago. Each time was incredibly _frightening_. While I would love to continue exploring, it reached a point where I was afraid of starting something I couldn't stop (action/reaction, ignorance is no plea). I noticed the "hemi" device. I'm completely deaf in one ear. Think that would make a difference? We are all engines of karma
  16. Only if they intend on messing with us. We are all engines of karma

  18. Many years ago, I went through an intensive search for God, which lead me into meditation, and out of body experiences. Just what you said ... got too spooky for me. Do this information from the Monroe Institute help with this? I actually spent some time looking at a "religion" called ECK (Eckankar): http://www.eckankar.org/index.html While I agree with many of its premises, the deeper I went, the more it started sounding like a cult (the Eck master intercedes on your behalf in your dreams, thus promoting your education in the higher planes). Again, like you said, a little too scary. It would be nice to find something where I could continue pursuing this aspect of the life force. We are all engines of karma
  19. It's called Lucid Dreaming. Google it. There is a guy at Stanford university who has done alot of work with lucid dreaming (...he coined the phrase). BTW - very cool stuff. Few people can hang onto a lucid dream. We are all engines of karma
  20. This is from today's Financial Times: http://news.ft.com/cms/s/f3301e74-22ff-11da-86cc-00000e2511c8.html Insurers are going to claim damage came from flood, not storm. Thus, many homeowners will not have insurance help in rebuilding their homes. Also, those with flood insurance are probably limited to 200K, less than the cost of their homes. “The [physical] nightmare of the emergency is hopefully over for many people but the financial nightmare is just about to begin,” said E.L. “Bubba” Henry, alawyer representing insurance companies.
