  1. Yeah, and they're prone to violence! We are all engines of karma
  2. What you're reading about, and our country will continue to feel for some time, is a crisis in confidence. For many years, if our system produced a piece of white paper (e.g. bonds), it was considered good. No longer. Even though the vast majority of bonds are still performing, no one can tell the good ones from the bad ones. To boot, the institutions that really did produce good paper (e.g., FNMA) are being turned into political spigots, and the world is reacting to that, badly (...as they should). 3. Both of these look great. Thanks for posting them. We are all engines of karma
  4. He didn't need to. He just showed up every Sunday for 20 years. We are all engines of karma
  5. Agreed. Education can be a difficult thing. We are all engines of karma
  6. These folks are not actively seeking to bring about the Tribulation, as opposed to Iran's President. The material I've been reading lately says that the "12th Imam" club is actively seeking to generate the chaos required for the 12th imam to return, as opposed to kicking back and praying for it to happen. 7. This is fantastic. The scene in the Korean DMZ made me snort through my nose! We are all engines of karma
  8. Nice! I'll show my girls that pic (..with no reference to the title, though). We are all engines of karma
  9. I want someone who is much more than an eloquent speaker in the White House. I want someone who is much more than a junior senator from Illinois. I want someone who didn't get his start in Chicago politics. I want someone who didn't spend 20 years listening to a raving lunatic like the Reverend White. And the list keeps getting bigger every day. We are all engines of karma
  10. Agreed. Bush is protecting interests, though, not actively thinking about putting Islam all over the world. There is some difference there. I hope you can see that. We are all engines of karma
  11. No. That's not the concern discussed in my circles. Obama has proven himself to be an eloquent speaker, who hits all the right notes. The White House is not a musical instrument, and the man is not fit to inhabit it, IMO. We are all engines of karma
  12. They are. They're just not out there actively promoting it. We are all engines of karma
  13. My mother is a big time holy roller. I was raised in an evangelical setting, where Revelations was discussed on a regular basis. I have _NEVER_ heard anyone say they needed to bring about the chaos for the return of the messiah. That is quite a difference between American evangelicals and Iran's evangelicals, IMO. 14. So, what's your take on this "return of the 12th Imam" thing? I've read several times that most of the top guys are in this little club that calls for creating the chaos required for his return. Any truth to that, in your opinion? We are all engines of karma
  15. While I did laugh out loud when I saw it, and felt it was reasonably comprehensive in summarizing many concerns both myself and fellow citizens have about this couple, it was definitely pushing the bounds. Especially in a presidential election where race sensitivities are there, acknowledge them or not. We are all engines of karma
  16. Kentucky is a good guy. I was there the day it happened. And, yes, he has actually gone around putting up reward posters. SPORTSMEN RULE! DIRT CHEAP!!! We are all engines of karma
  17. ROFLMAO We are all engines of karma
  18. That actually might work. We are all engines of karma
  19. If homeowners had actually paid their mortgages (like I do), this would never have been an issue. If you took an ARM out, and didn't pay, you lose your home. End of story. Likewise, if an investor actually bought that piece of white paper, they lose, too. Caveat emptor. Unfortunately, Moody's (et. al.) decided to rate Countrywide (et. al.) originated paper as AAA. Then, the wizards on Wall Street wrapped that paper into insurance policies, and then pension funds, et. al., bought the insurance paper. That's a gross simplification, but as soon as the paper was no longer AAA, the pension funds had to sell it. "Balance sheet" issues, as defined by generally accepted accounting principles, kicked in, then margin calls kicked in, then people had to start selling paper that wasn't worth anything in the current market, and it's turned into a fire storm. 20. Suffice it to say, you and I are very different people. We are all engines of karma
  21. I took my family to see it, also. We all enjoyed it. We are all engines of karma
  22. There's a thought. Let's unleash the Southern Baptists on them. Funny though, even as fundamentalist as the Southern Baptists can be, you never hear them espousing killing another culture because that culture doesn't believe what the Southern Baptists believe. The Southern Baptists just want to convert them. As hard as this is for me to say, maybe we're starting to get too civilized for our own good. The world really needs a clear winner right now. A very clear winner. Let's hope it's us. We are all engines of karma
