2nd Annual September 11th Memorial Jump
valcore replied to valcore's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I know everyone can remember where they were on this fateful day. Well where are you going to be this September? Join us at Carolina Sky Sports this year to remember our fallen hero’s. On Saturday September 9th (weather permitting) we will be organizing a jumps to include members of the military (active and prior), also anyone else who’s lives have been affected (to include fire department, police and family members). Military members who are attending we ask that you bring your fatigues. Attached are some pictures from last year. If you have any questions please contact me. Also Please RSVP so we know how many to plan into our dive. Listening to music when you jump? would it work?
valcore replied to FlyingJarhead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
True, but i bet you drive with the stereo on........ I do but I have much more experience driving then I do skydiving maybe someday I'll get to that point. Besides I don't think you can really compair driving to skydiving. They are a little different The most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help’. ~Ronald Reagan 30,000,000 legal firearm owners killed no one yesterday. -

I got asked last week a good whuffo question. "so i hear that in free fall your going so fast that you don't have to breath. Air is absorbed in through your skin" ME: "Yea and when you fall though a cloud you could drown." "really?" ME: "No" The most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help’. ~Ronald Reagan 30,000,000 legal firearm owners killed no one yesterday.

Listening to music when you jump? would it work?
valcore replied to FlyingJarhead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think I might get so into the music and jump that I would be pulling really low. Like when my cypress fires. So I don't jump with one.......... There are things that you need to focus all of your attention on and I think that skydiving is one of them. At least while jumping The most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help’. ~Ronald Reagan 30,000,000 legal firearm owners killed no one yesterday. -
On a little brighter topic Keith, Melissa, Casey. I was just sent a full refund for my jump at Deland last year. In the letter they very apologetic for my experience there. Apparently they must have read my review of their dropzone. I have to say that this has raised my opinion of them a little. Though I still would not jump there again without a team. Have to say this was probably the last thing that I ever though would happen. Unless your practicing with a team I don't recommend you go to deland. Not only as an experienced jumper was I given this 15min powerpoint presentation on how to be SAFE. Nobody would answer any question that me or my friends had. There is no pin check on the plane, and we waited a VERY LONG time for a load to go up. Also if you have low jumps don't go there expecting to be treated as an equal. I will NEVER waste my money jumping at Deland again. In fact I want the dollar back that is still on my account. As a side note I was recently sent a refund for my jump. This is definetly more then I could have asked for so Thank You Deland, I will probably give you guys another chance in the future.

Thank you, I know this is kinda last min. We seem to have a string of luck first our inside center breaks a rib on a jump then our tail and alternate have a emergency. Hopefully there are no more surprises. Well as it turns out the 4 way virgins have lost 2 of our jumpers due to a family emergency. So we are desperately looking for 2 people who are interested in jumping 4 way that would not mind filling in for (inside center, and tail slots) the meet this following weekend of the 29th. Please let me know if your interested and can make it. Yes we have an alternate on our team so we will still be jumping at the meet though it won't be the same without chris. The most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help’. ~Ronald Reagan 30,000,000 legal firearm owners killed no one yesterday.

As I am sure that everyone will hear soon anyway so I am going to go ahead and post this to prevent any confusion. Chris had a very hard opening sunday which resulted in a visit to the ER the next day. He severely tore some ligaments in his next and also fractured a rib. He will be out of commission for the next 3-6 weeks. So make sure that you give him some encouragement when you see him as I am sure that he needs it. We are talking about changing our team name to Fractured Rib Virgins since we have had 2 team members break a rib in the last month. Is there a minimum jump requirement or should we just ask if we want to get on? The most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help’. ~Ronald Reagan 30,000,000 legal firearm owners killed no one yesterday.

Hey I talked to 3 of the 4 Virgins and they are fine with it. I think the only question was....... Is there going to be someone from the league there while you jump. If these were not extraordinary circumstances then we would not agree but since you guys are deploying then It would be nice of the Skyleague to allow you to compete a week early. I'll let you know once I talk to the 4th he is on vacation right now and out of touch. By the way Kim Walker is our now tail flyer thanks for everyone who offered to fill in the slot for us. GOOD LUCK GUYS The most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help’. ~Ronald Reagan 30,000,000 legal firearm owners killed no one yesterday.

I used to have a lot of problems with my floating exits as well it seemed what helped me was to look up at the wing while I jump and watch it. This seems to help me stay arched. Ok my buddy Will is going to try to get about 100$ in fireworks for the 4th. I'll buy a new slip and slide for us and of course bring beer. Also are there any food items that I can get for the cookout. FYI I won't be there till sunday morning or saturday night depending. You have a point there matt maybe you read that article on exit order too, it made some really good points on why freeflyers should go last. Ok so trying not to kill the thread again (as per Dave) How are we going to have a big boogie when our CASA's are going to multiple dropzones near by? Sounds like "the point" will have one of our CASA's and they are apparently pulling a big group from Chester (little birdie told me so) Who knows who else is going to have our planes? I don't know what everyone else thinks about this but I remember that last 4th of July boogie was pretty big (my first boogie). We had fireworks and band, big fire, lots of drinking, lots of jumping, full planes, and just a lot of fun. This year though....... seems kind of sad. There is no band, no food, no fireworks, no firewood as of last weekend, no thread on DZ.com about it, and as far as I know just the regular fun jumpers maybe some extras. WTF sorry if I step on toes here but who is organizing for this boogie. Because it seems to me that nobody is. (not the jumping part) I know that regardless we are all going to have fun. But I still can't help wondering what happened, and where the break down was. Granted I don't know a lot about skydiving just what I've seen on TV . But come on what happened? Sorry DAVE I know you don't want me to post again, but the thread would not die if you posted a reply Anyway that’s my CSS rant for the month just food for though I guess. Side note doesn't sending a big plane that we own to a CLOSE dropzone so they can have a big boogie kind of take away from ours? I'm no business major but that doesn't seem like a sound business practice..... O wait I am a business major. I understand that you guys are deploying. Semper Fi and keep your head down. The 4 way virgins will funnel an exit for you :) By the way we lost our tail flyer so if anyone want to fill in and maybe give us a few pointers your more then welcome to. Regardless we will plan to make the next meet see you all there The most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help’. ~Ronald Reagan 30,000,000 legal firearm owners killed no one yesterday.
