Allrighty thanks for the clarification regarding speedstar...now when a jumper goes headdown without their legs spread and their arms at their sides is that called 'no lift'?
-
Hey Wendy...youve been around skydiving long enough to know this question...was there EVER a speedstar event or was that just made up?
-
Yeah and what about Tomb Raider when shes flying a wingsuit?

So jumping with a container packed with dirty laundry...thats totally realistic? Come on! Sure it was a good movie but I like point break because that was the movie that got me the idea of jumping in the first place. I've seen all of them and another jumper sent me the DVD for Cutaway a year ago and while its been hollywooded over its not all that bad besides its a movie just like the rest of them. They all have their own innacurate points to them but what makes them good in their own rights is the fact that they have people skydiving in them. Not a whole lot of mainstream movies about jumping.

What to do now that I have my A license

I've jumped at Skydive Dallas at Whitewright before...I used to live in dallas and I did 4 AFF jumps there before losing my job and moving back to the houston area. Is Earnie still out there? And what about Mandy? -

Thanks Dave! I called out and talked to Steve and he told me that they are having safety day next saturday. I plan on being there for that for sure. I know it will all start clicking together once I get current again and back in the jumping world once again. Thanks for your assistance. Paul -

I know I dont know squat compared to you but I like to read alot and this reminds me of the tragedy that happened to Gus Wing. Could this incident be similar to that report as well? -
I am getting married in a few months and my fiancee will probably never jump. However I jumped before I met her and I told her that it will always be a part of my life and she is ok with that. So I got a loan and just purchased my new rig and I made a deal with her that every other saturday during the warmer months I will jump for around 5-6 hours and then come home. She is ok with this and I beleive that compromise is the only way this would work with a situation like ours. And it works out pretty well.

Jumping within the USPA guidelines...which for me would probably mean getting a refresher course with an instructor and jumping to maintain my currency. And then jumping at least once a month to maintain the currency. -

My DZ is pretty big...after all they are hosting the nationals this year! When I go out there it seems that there are lots of teams and I guess I never gave it much thought about talking to some of the instructors to get them to point me to some people that arent on a team that would like to jump with me. I guess since I didnt have a lot of time to hang out when I got my license before, that I never got to hang out with other jumpers that have their licenses that would want to jump with me. Besides even if I cant find anyone to jump with me I can always jump by myself and get better at tracking. I love tracking...so much fun! -
What to do now that I have my A license

Allright I completed my A license last year right before I got laid off from my job and I havent jumped in around a year due to finances. I got a new job around 5 months ago and finances are back in order and jumping is right around the corner. I knew personally that I wouldn't be in skydiving much more unless I went out and bought my own rig (Which I did). I purchased a new container, new reserve and a used main (for easier packing). Now the question is...what do I do when I get back to the dropzone and get current again. I know that I will have to become more proficient on my belly so I got an RW suit but the thing is this...How do I practice RW if I'm not on a team? I realize that with my low jump numbers that most people wont want to jump with me because of newb status but if there a way I can practice RW alone so I can get better so when the opportunity arrives that I wont look so much like a tool? I plan on getting several jumps on rented gear in the next few weeks to get current again, until my new container and reserve arrives. I already have my main. I honestly dont have any plans to be on a team because I mostly want to do it at my own pace and jumping every other weekend isnt exactly inducive of becoming better on a team. I guess I feel like I'm stuck in the middle. Is there any advice I can get other than...go out to the DZ and meet people? Thanks Paul -
Mine is similar to yours except when I'm trying to merge on the freeway and the speed limit is 65 mph and the jackass in front of me is going 35 mph and constantly hitting their brakes while merging onto a lane that is protected. Get the fuck out of my way!

Tuaca is best tasted (at least for me) with a nice lime and some freezing cold Tuaca.
-
I've been drinking Tuaca for around 7 years or so. I went to the Tuaca Body Art party in Dallas a few years ago. They had this girl that was marilyn Monroe/Manson. Fucking awesome show she put on. One second she was singing boop oop e doop shit and the next second she moved her face to the right and the beautiful people came on. So yeah Tuaca is old news for me but I still love it.

So I'm curious (not trying to get banned) but what exactly is a moderator. Is this a 'real' job where you ban people that curse other people out on the forums or do you have other duties as well. -
