    i took a break from skydiving,,,,,,,,, most of the guys/gals before i quit were flat packing. When Flat packing , one lays the canopy on the side...and no, it never oppened off heading,,,,,kind of steered the opening by moving the body in the harness.... Havent used propacking.....since just getting back into the sport..

    how any jumps did you get to w/o a malfunction...what kind of pack jobs did u use??? 800 (+ a few thousand student rigs) for me... all Flat packing including.....several on new yearss eve...... cramming the main crop into the D-bag!!!!!

    I've been out of the sport for about 10 yrs now and getting back into it. Didnt even pick up a parachutist durring that time off. IT BLOWS ME AWAY that so many people are getting hurt landing! It was almost unheard of reading an incident about someone getting hurt/killed landing. I just dont get it...really i dont. But again, when younger, I didn't see the fear of riding a motorcycle at 150+ mph down country roads.....until a couple of friends were "scraped" off the pavement. Please all, be careful.

    Was not my favorite,, But kinda funny why I had it. When in College, I ran out of money, so went looking for a job. I was down to my last $5 and an empty refrigerator. So limited the searching to places I could eat. Ended up at a convenience store ...I would eat when I got to work...then eat again right before I went home.

    I took 10 yrs off and just started jumping again. I'm glad to see that in the helmet arena we are getting safer and evolving from frap hats to hard helmets. I kinda think that skydiving helmets are over priced also. (Maybe I will amend this sentence if one of the manufacturers provides me with a nice carbon fiber fullface) I just recently purchased a like new Boeri Ski Helmet (13$ used) to use instead of my frap hat. Wondering what kind of reaction i will get at the DZ??. I made my decision based on what I thought was best for me. There are several threads which will provide more info. Search "Ski Helmet" or "Boeri"

    I jumped a round a few years ago. I had obtained an old student canopy and harness. I wore the round harness underneath my regular harness. I did not intend to land it. There is much to be said for an intentional cutaway ! I was on a jump that the 3 of us wore an additional harnesses under our regular gear and static lined out of the 182. One of the guys ended up in "TOW" behind the 182 when he tossed the D-Bag and T10. All lived.

    Yes i'm going to be jumping my old Vector II with a big/slugish main and Raven II. I've been reading about lots of people hurt/killed on fast/small ZP canopies. Therefore, i'm using something bigger than most would use. Anyway...more interested in the skydive than the parachute ride...at least for now. Matt IN Katy, TX

    I quit because of several reasons. Career, needed more than a packing job, was overseas working for a couple of years, get married, had kids, just grew away from being at the DZ. I could go on but dont want to bore anyone. Matt IN Katy, TX
