Christmas Eve 2004!! Unbelievable sight since I live in Texas. We lived in Baytown, near Houston, and my mom was actually driving to my house from San Antonio that night. When she arrived in my neighborhood about midnight, she actually thought everyone had gotten together and loaded their roof tops with fake snow. When she noticed the tops of the cars were also covered, she realized it was real. Just goes to show you how rare that was for Texas, especially on Christmas Eve. 1 RW jump and 2 sweet CReW jumps! Did an RW jump to be sure I could still arch...and I REALLY enjoyed freefalling. Yes Walt, it was fun The CReW jumps: Did a 3 stack with Walt and Decibel, and I steered this time. Then Walt and I went up and flew a bi-plane as the sun set. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! We landed the bi-plane with me steering again. I was extremely sore the next day, but it was worth it!

Mom carried around a bamboo stick for a few years and I was, unfortunately, very familiar with it. To this day, I cannot look at bamboo without cringing! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

0:2:0 One CRW attempt with Walt. We chased eachother around the sky until about 3 grand. One biplane. We got together and realized we weren't going to make the dz. Played around in the clouds and looked for a place to land. I ended up doing an unplanned demo in someone's front yard. Pretty tight landing area for sure. There were two little boys absolutely thrilled about it. I was just thrilled to be on the ground It was a pretty cool day for sure. Walt did a beautiful write-up about our off-landing jump. I just recently moved closer to my mom. I was about 4 hours away and now it's a 35 minute drive to her place. We are best friends, and can always find something to laugh about. I cherish our visits and long talks. I absolutely believe part of the reason we are so close is because of my horrible childhood. Dad was an alcoholic and made all of our lives horrible. As bad as that was, I believe it was partly responsible for our wonderful relationship, Yes, I really enjoy my mother. Okay now I'm crying! (I know WAH, WAH ) It was definately one of those moments for me where it just didn't seem real. Like "I'm here, but this can't be happening." Walt, you did a wonderful job writing up this amazing experience. Thanks so much, and thanks for sharing that jump with me. Oh.....is the poor little baby getting cranky because the holidays are almost here? WAH, WAH, WAH!! I'll bet it's because you were forced to eat that nasty sweet potatoe pie with the marshmallow topping. I never could eat that crap because I always imagined the sweet potatoes were left outside and a flock of geese flew right over it. YUK!! Sorry about the mocking, but you HAD to know it was coming! 0:4: 1 2 CReW jumps with Walt and 2 CReW attempts with my former instructor (our canopies weren't compatible). First jump of the day, Walt and I do rotations and then fly a two-stack into the DZ where I learned to Skydive. My start in this sport wasn't exactly awesome, so it was with great pride that my former instructor witnessed me participating in the first CReW jump at his DZ. Yes I know BEER...or root beer in my case. Anyway, on the other CReW jump we only got about 5K due to clouds, so Walt and I get together around 3k and both realize we cannot see the dz, but we didn't care. So he lands us in a big open field, and then a very nice farmer gives us a ride back. When we arrived at the dz, a local volunteer firefighter shows up to check on us. He saw two parachutes flying close together and thought one of us was passed out and the other was trying to help. Jumping in a small, Texas town has its advantages. AWWW Kev (shut up Walt) I'm so glad we got to see you and jump with you before you left us. I'll send you plenty of goodies while you're away and don't worry about your rig...Rocke will make sure it stays in good hands. I'll make a jump in Nome for you every now and then, and when you return to the good ole USA, we'll do some AWESOME CReW!! We love you and will miss you! Wow!!! Pretty cool pics. An absolutely beyond awesome day for sure. We even saw a rainbow (perfect circle) below us in the clouds on one jump. I can't remember what the name for that is, but I sure enjoyed it! That pic was taken 5 days ago and I'm still in the clouds! Thanks Walt and Wendy
