  3. it looks like they are posting the minimum bid(taxes owed) there. but as for the tax appraised value of the property... im having trouble getting one. I have tried going to the Barry county tax appraisal site, but for some reason its not letting me find any records with that address. but i find it on the map on mapquest so i know its there. I think there site's system is just a lil screwy. Im guessing that the property it sef has to be worth more than that amount. the county only wants its tax money. so they are willing to give it up for an amount that just covers what it needs to cover. here is a link to the barry county tax site: http://www.barrycounty.org/ParcelData.htm and here is a link to the site that has almost every county in the US. http://www.reiclub.com/tax-appraisal-district/Michigan.html I wish i could find more info!   7. i think i asked my AFF instructor about 3-4 times if the harness ws tight enough around my legs b4 we got on the lane. I was so terrified that I was going to end up with a ball uinder malfunction. I would have gone limp. so happy that the opening was so smooth! but then it was shape,stability,steering. all good. ok were is the dz. oh there it is way over there... im so not going to make it to the holding area. if i make it at all. going into the wind and atleast floated it over the runway. wound up being a straight in landing. to hell with a pattern. i was seriously looking at the other corn fields to see which one looked the best. I was dreading a corn cob up my ass. but thankfully everything worked out and i floated. SLOWELY to the dz. I still dont know if they herd me on the radio or not. but i was giving myself a I can do it peptalk the entire time. If they could hear me i hope noone else could
  8. i think you would have better luck getting everything aproved. i would go out and watch u jump. it would be a cool nieghborhood thing. there is just so much room and with them redoing the playground there isnt anyone ever there anymoe. dont tell me u havnt looked at all that area and havnt had the idea or thought ExPeCt ThE uNeXpEcTeD!   11. WOW... u havnt met me yet! I think u should look into coaching or if u already have just practice practice practice. I think later in life u will regret that u gave up on something u love doing. I wouldnt be so hard on yourself. you should know that. uve seen the support that people have given to others in this forum that have said they just cant get it. Hope this at least half way cheers u up and makes u think twice about quitting! I know im new to all of this but i couldnt see myself throwing in the towel when there are so many people to lean on in the skydiving comunty. ExPeCt ThE uNeXpEcTeD!   18. is it legal to jump in a resedential neighborhood? and if so how do u go about organizing something like that. i know this is a stupid question, but i wouldnt mind getting a drop off at the park which is only about 100 yards from my door. there is ample amount of room for a landing. it just makes me ponder. even if i couldnt realisticaly do something like that anytime soon.   21. Are u looking for a skydiver or a family member of a skydiver? just curious. Im not considered a skyder yet(jump count). I have a younger brother in Iraq and a cousin that just went back to Hawaii from a 1 year stay in Afganistan. both Army. cousin is Ifantry and brother is light wheel mechanic. my brother fill me in on the convoy rides he does from time to time. i think he has only been on 1 convoy mission and 1 mission that was something like patrol/guard. but like freeflir29 said. the PX is close enough for most things needed. I just send stuff he cant download on his crapy internet connection. like skydiving vids he gets all the movies before they come out here. so that sucks. He better bring them back! Yahoo is great for free daily communication! I havnt really asked him what is something he cant get over there that he wants. he has fast food chains in the area from what he has told me so im sure he can just about anything.   22. ok i found the info needed. it has multiple links that lead to more info. if u could get me the address of the property i could probably see how much the back taxes are.   23. what state is this in. i have a book that has some states laws on property tax forclosures. but if it is property tax forclosure then they only want to auction the property off to gain the property taxes that are owed. now if someone was cool then they would go to the auction and bid the highest bid that usually just covers the back taxes owed which could be a couple years worth and reopen with less cost than the original DZO. but if it is already in the forclosure process then it shouldnt be more than 30 days till its auctioned. let me know what state it is and ill look up to see what kind of tax forclosure process u have. Texas has a right of redemption law. basically a person that bids and wins pays the amount and the owner still owns the property. if its not declared homestead or Agriculteral(sp?) then the owner has 6 months to pay u the amount u paid + 25%. if its has the homestead or AG exemption then they have 2 years but its 25% for each year that passes. if they dont pay the amount + 25% in the alotted amount of time then u get the DEED free and clear. but of course u have to pay ur taxes not to many states offer right of redemption. its usually actioned off and deed handed over to winning bidder. But if i had some cash that i could spare id be all over an investment like that!!! cause id jump for free anyway edit: im going off ur profile and guessing its in michigan. Im looking at some of the Tax appraisal districts. what county or "area" is the property in. im looking to see what the tax appraised value is. If u have a address that would be fantastic in the search!! and then i could hopefully find the amount of back taxes cause its all public record its just a matter of searching. Im also looking for the state tax laws. maybe someone that is into investments and if this pans out to be a good one then they could purchase it and keep it going. that would be cool! oh and from what it looks like the township is the determining party. i guess thats what they call a county in Michigan...???   25. im still in my AFF. when i started out i did first tandem just to soak it all in. great just not having to worry about pull this or fly that. then 2nd jump was tandem level 2 which took place as my AFF level 1 (altitude awareness(sp?)) then FJC and level 2. next weekend is level 3 and i cant wait! wish i could afford to do more at once, but unfortinatly i cant... in my FJC I was in class with a guy that was using his level 1 AFF as thier first jump out of an airplane. He was a nervous character and while i wasnt there when he jumped i hope he didnt panic. i think he did ok. i hope...
