  1. Figured you would have known by now that life isn't fair. There are many ridiculous policies with most large employers. You either live with it, or find another job. Policy change within a company is almost impossible to affect. By the way, hoe come you never responded to my answer to you about gun control?
  2. Narci, I am pretty sure that a simple "thank you" would have done.....That was uncalled for.
  3. Let me see what I can find.....
  4. Your question is kind of pointless if you can't define what "finishing" or "victory" or "winning" in this scenario is. The easy answer to your question would be: declare victory, tell the world your finished after clearly winning and bring the tropps home. With everything undefined, this should make everybody happy....
  5. And with the same reasoning and logic I explained that if you take away the no gun zones, somebody hell bent on killing many people will just use a bomb. Hence, my assertion that it wouldn't make a difference.I still believe that private property owners should have the right to dictate what is and isn't allowed on their property. In your example above of the lady who works at a University, she is more than welcome to find a job where she is allowed to keep a gun in her car, if she truly feels that unsafe. I already wrote above that the original intent of the 2nd amendment should be honoured and all gun control should be abolished. There should be absolutely no restriction on the type of weapon a US citizen can acquire or carry. The original intent was to enable citizens to possibly overthrow a rogue government. As such, every citizen should be allowed to acquire the same weapons as the US armed forces have access to. Anything less would be in direct violation of the intent of the 2nd amendment.
  6. Yup, heard of many gun-free zones where mass shootings don't happen very often, like most of the Western World. My argument, if you had quoted more you would have seen that, revolves around teh same argument the pro-gun people make. That if you take away guns, bad guys will just use other tools. That argument works the other way as well. If you prevent bad guys from going on shooting sprees in schools, they will resort to other tools, like building a bomb.
  7. You guys can carry concealed all you want, doesn't affect me. I think in your current climate it makes sense. If you stop "no guns" zones, you really accomplish nothing. The guy at VT would just have built a bomb in stead of using a gun and would have blown up a building. In the end I believe that those who own private property should be allowed to dictate whether visitors are allowed to carry guns or not.
  8. Don't catholics believe the same thing? In stead of the village being big government, it means the church.
  9. It could have prevented a little shooting at VT you may have heard about. Or it could not have, but it sure would have made it quite a bit harder for the shooter to acquire the guns, and quite a bit more expensive too. No law has a 100% success rate JR, that argument is really starting to wear a little thin. Personally I believe that in light of the original intent of the 2nd amendmend, there should be absolutely no restriction on guns, or any other weapons. As you say, there are other laws in place to "prevent" people from doing harm with any weapon they may purchase.
  10. It depends on what has shown tobe the average over time for that department, which is missing from the story. Without that, it really is hard to say anything about the actual number of tickets stated.
  11. I would think it is only a part of the performance measurement program and not the only part. I know that here in Toronto tickets written is part of the performance measurement of uniformed officers on general duties, I don't see what the issue is with that. I would want an officer who only gives warnings and never writes a tickets to be asked why by his superior.
  12. Or you could say that previous administrations didn't use the same information that may have been true to kill thousands. The current administration didn't give a damn about whether it was true, cause they wanted to kill thousands. Do you see a difference in those two scenarios? And to you last point. Of course all these stories (including the yellow cake story) have been so distorted people don't really know what the hell is going on anymore.....do you really think that is a coincidence?
  13. I think it is used as a performance measurement tool, like in many other police departments around the world. hence, if he didn't reach the average number of tickets for that day, he might be questioned. However, since his boss would know that on that day he was tied up with a massive fatal incident, there would be no impact on his performance measurement. Peer review and community feedback alone are not enough. Plus, Community Feedback in a city of for instance 4 million is not really effective at all....
  14. There is obviously a fine line between a quota and performance measurement. Without getting into what the actual number of tickets is, how else would you measure performance of an officer whose primary duty is traffic?
  15. Prevent those who have been deemed a danger to themselves and others from legally obtaining guns in all states.
  16. Well, this is where you and I see a difference. Clinton years: CIA comes over for brunch and says: We think Sh may still have some WMDs and he isn't fully cooperating with the UN. At which point the CIA left the brunch to try and get better intel and the government furthered diplomatic efforts, believing the intel to be possibly true. Bush years: CIA gets called into the office. We want to invade Iraq, don't particularly care where you get it from, but get me some reasons. That stuff about WMDs should do, let's just tell everybody the same story, except this time we'll get Collin Powell, one of the most trusted people in the government to claim that it is fact and that there is no doubt. We'll scare them with some mushroom cloud reference, confuse the average american enough so they don't know the difference between Iraq, Al Qaeda and the Taliban and we get to invade ourselves a country. (yes the scenarios have been slightly dumbed down for comparison)
  17. Funny, I was chosing between mauve and pink this morning for my dress shirt....
  18. I don't remember Clinton claiming that SH was trying to get uranium in Africa during a State of the Union Address. Nor do I remember Collin Powell's equivalent during the Clinton years rambling off lie after lie to the UN, specifically stating his "speech" was based on sound intelligence and verifiable facts.
  19. And funny enough that just rarely ever happens in those places where drinking while driving is allowed as long as you are under the legal blood alcohol limit.
  20. Only if they go to sexpresso bars.
  21. If god intended seals not to be clubbed, he would have given them guns.
  22. I knew there was a technical term for wanting to get on my bike and ride fast.....
  23. I believe that if somebody of sound mind wants to die, they should be allowed to die humanely. I applaud The Netherlands for the system they have in place.
  24. How is this a surprise? For many what happens in American idol is far more important than what happens in politics. Probably cause that is about all they can understand....
  25. Sure it is. What is the difference between chugging one beer in the parking lot of the DZ and then driving to the pizza joint and having that same beer while driving to the pizza joint? As long as you are not intoxicated and remain under the legal blood alcohol limit, what in the hell is wrong with drinking a beer while driving?
