  1. You actually think the US could sustain and finance continuous armed conflict against the rest of the world? remember that you likely won't have access anymore to the majority of the US military bases around the world. Remember that funding by the rest of the world has been cut off. And, the USD is worth only a tiny fraction of its current worth. I know it is a bit of an odd scenraio and likely won't play out that way, however a continuous armed conflict is likely not possible. (the Russians found out the hard way how dedicated their soldiers where when they couldn't pay them anymore)
  2. Lead time for such a ramp up is enormous, as in years. China's biggest trading partner is the EU. Yes it would impact them, however, due to a much tighter control on their economy and market place it will also be much easier for them to absorb the impact. They actually have huge amounts of excessive cash laying around as opposed to owing the rest of the world huge amounts of cash.
  3. I agree with you. If the rules have been discarded before, then I don't see why they now have to be stringently adhered to. I have this nagging feeling that her posting the fastest time in the city may have something to do with that.
  4. You do understand you just lumped your cohort into the same category right?
  5. Nah, I heard its only gay if you push back....
  6. Don't quit your day job. And whatever you do, don't audition for Last Comic Standing....
  7. It probably would. However, if in Skyrad's plan the rest of the world calls in the loans, dumps their USD reserves and starts trading oil in Euro, the price of raw materials needed for manufacturing will grow to astronomical levels in USD. When gas hits $10 USD per US Gallon or more, the products manufactured won't be able to be bought by most Americans.
  8. True, he invaded a country under very dubious circumstances. Iran talked.... Big difference
  9. He is so obsessed about the Brittish queen, and loves Bush. I am pretty sure he has a picture of each and masturbates while looking at both nightly....
  10. Those who aren't with us are against us. Different words, same meaning. Specially when spoken by a regime who invade a country with very dubious reasoning and thought.
  11. And Reagan fired all the ATCs. If you really think it isn't hard to fire an underperforming unionized employee, then obviously you have never been in that situation. I know the positions aren't similar. I understand the semantics argument between controling and influencing. In the end, the President of the US does have a very significant influence over the US economy and with that the world economy to a lesser degree. As a state, it would now appear that other countries and regions (EU) have done a much better job in recent years of managing their economies.
  12. true, just never ask a Sikh to show you the blade of his kirpan....
  13. Not me, he is trying to bring a knife into a court room.
  14. Actually, billion directly translated to Dutch is biljoen and is used to mean million x million
  15. Look at the snopes.com link provided above for a somewhat reasonable explanation of that.
  16. true, at this point the Japanese, Chinese and Europeans appear to be a better job at controling their economies.
  17. Really, ever try to fire a unionized employee?
  18. Not if it is a publicly traded company. Even less so in today's environment. CEO of Ford has little control over the productivity of his front line employees. Has little control over the costs of base materials. Little control over the cost of money. He has to answer to a board of directors who may actually dictate direction. Yes it isn't identical, but there are a lot of similarities....scale is obviously different.
  19. The same way the CEO of a massive company has an influence on the profitability and sustainability of said company.
  20. Didn't know Clay was that old....
  21. I figured that. But, by the people not relaizing that the "power-mongers" are the problem. And, with the people doing the voting. Doesn't that mean that in your statement the people are the problem at this point?
  22. That was my question too. We have been consuming chemically and genetically manipulated products for years. I really don't see cloned meat as much different. (I do see an opportunity for a certification process for organically grown and raised products)
  23. Those two statements seem to contradict eachther....
