  1. Except it was used to finance other parts of the business. So, you can't really see it just as a seperate business silo.
  2. Why not object to the Christian Rodeos as well?
  3. Nice example, but let's change it a little to reflect what really happens: The car dealer has 100 of those lemons on his lot on purpose. he has bought them for $1,000 each, but is putting them on the books as representing a value of $20,000 each. He now uses the $2million book value to secure an operating loan for $1,000,000, which he uses to do legitimate business with. He uses $100,000 of that loan to repeat the process, and on and on.
  4. That's nowhere near comparing apples to apples. This is an internal/employee theft and nowhere near similar to the original subject.
  5. Maybe they should declare a War on Illegal Immigration. Most people seem to agree that the War on Drugs is useless and America being what it is, it seems ot need a War of some sort to keep going. (And justify insane amounts of spending)
  6. yes, I had this nagging feeling you weren't quite understanding what Stewart meant, or what I was talking about.
  7. Not according to Wallace he isn't. Or do you think Wallace is wrong too about his own employer?
  8. Silly way to look at it. What they are saying is, in simpler terms, that they have limited resources and they are trying to establish some kind of order as to who they should focus on. Pretty common to start with the perceived biggest problem and work your way down the list.
  9. That's not what Stewart said. There is a difference between having a bias and have bias as your mission statement (but then claim you don't have a bias and are fair and balanced).
  10. Where in actual fact they made a multitude of the $5 billion and paid a $150 million fine. From a pure numbers perspective and taking ethics out of the equasion, they would do the same thing again and again and again.
  11. Just like I can't argue with people who get their news from the Comedy Channel, I can't argue with that either....
  12. Watch the unedited version. Wallace clearly admits that Fox is not balanced and exists to provide the conservative point of view. I wonder why that part didn't make it on the air? In the end that is how I take Stewarts point. Yes, a lot of news has some form of liberal slant, since the people working in the industry tend to be liberal. However, the other major networks (with the exception of MSNBC, who are clearly following the FOX model), don't solely exist to provide only one side of the coin.
  13. This is very similar to the tobacco smuggling scheme I discussed earlier in this thread.
  14. You mean like L blaming R and R blaming L, while nothing changes and things get worse and worse....
  15. That was pretty much my point. Doing nothing, IMHO would have resulted in a worse economic situation. Though I am sure there are efficiencies available in the process. But there almost always is in government run programs.
  16. The US Secret Service doesn't really agree with you when they researched this in 2002. It isn't a lack of discipline, it is a lack of belonging. Interesting side note is the increase in school shootings coincides with the increase in anti-depressant use in teenagers.
  17. How do you figure it was a waste of money? How did you calculate that the economy would have done better without the stimulus spending?
  18. I like how Fox positions themselves as not being mainstream. I have this feeling their definition of mainstream is communist. In the mean time, they like to support candidates who stand for the common person, you know, Joe the Plumber.
  19. Maybe not, but one of the main differences between the two systems is one is more preventative and one is more reactive. I think the results of the study reflect that.
  20. True, just like the US debt crisis is a perfect example of why capitalism doesn't work. Funny enough, the end result is close to being the same. Turns out the succesful economies have a hybrid system in place.
  21. Oh, come on Quade. The wetback clearly thumbed his nose at real Americans by refusing to speak English. After he destroyed Mexico, he is now here to destroy the US, helped by weak liberals like you! (I tell you the comments on the article really are great reading)
  22. Ah yes, I get it: Media asks for public records from Palin and it confirms their stupidity. Scientist warns of the potential of FOI requests interferring with research and it confirms he is a crybaby. There clearly is not a single double standard on display here..... If a climate scientist would take 3 years to disclose the requested information...well, I think we all know what your comments would be like.
  23. I'm sorry, but do I understand correctly that you have been here for more than 25 years? You should be able to write in proper English. The fact that you refuse to is a clear sign of your ignorance towards real Americans and your desire to destroy the country!
  24. It is good to hear. Since if there is one thing Americans are known for around the world, it would be quite the opposite.
  25. Yup, unless Ds and Rs learn to work together, you are looking at your own future.
