  1. Then you will continue to get the best politicians money can buy. It has been working wonderfully.
  2. I don't buy that. Unions would still have reseources to have influence as well, so would organizations such as AARP and NRA. Lobbying would still exist.
  3. I am sure Harry Reid was the only politician doing that. SPecially while it was legal for them to do so.
  4. And more supply, so no increase in price of housing. You are also assuming no unemployment.

    Toure is an idiot.
  6. And how do you know there was not a discussion among the advisors and Joint Chiefs of Staff and the decisions was for this to be released by the President?
  7. Or new development would take place, which would mean jobs and revenue for the municipality. Regardless, your scenario gets a little extreme. Ontario has a minimum wage just north of $10 an hour. We have vacancy in rental units, nor has there been an incredible increase in rental rates. Should be noted that we have quite a condo boom going on.
  8. Only if there is no vacancy.
  9. I don't agree with him, but since all the numbers we have been talking about for minimum wage have been hourly numbers, I think when he mentions a $1 increase it is pretty clear what is meant.
  10. The brits had an incident where somebody was shot from the Libyan embassy in London in 1984. THis prompted them to make a law allowing the Brits to enter foreign embassies under extraordinary circumstances in case embassies were being used for terrorist activities. I agree with you that the brits acting on this would be pretty solid substantiation of his claims.
  11. Not including oevrtime you are correct. JCD is playing a little semantics game.
  12. I have never been that good with authority, but isn't the commander in chief at the top of the heap?
  13. Not such a low base if you have 500 people working for you. Now we are talking over a million dollars, and that is not even taking overtime into account.
  14. Which to me is also the only way you are going to change the politicians you get, through altering the access and flow of campaign money. No corporate or organizational (including unions of any kind) contributions. Limits on personal contributions.
  15. I think what this thread has made clear is that you are in the minority thinking that Palin makes Biden look smart. The alternate explanation to the media treating Biden differently from Palin is that she was significantly more stupid than Biden. I know that you will never, ever consider that to be even remotely a possibility.
  16. Really? Assuming say a $10 an hour start, that would be a 10% increase in wage for the first year, a 9% increase in the second year etc. Those are some hefty increases.
  17. Too bad your parents weren't around to teach you how to be polite.
  18. Oh, I thought an armed society was a polite society?
  19. I thought an armed society was a polite society? Maybe we just have different ideas about what is polite? Well on the polite side, I witnessed a bar fight between a long haired freak and a short haired cowboy. The freak actually threw the first punch, a beer can rim end straight into the face of the cowboy. A couple punches later the freak guy reached behind him and pulled his pistol out of his belt and tossed it to the bartender as an act of kindness. Then he proceeded to beat the shit out of the cowboy. It was the polite thing to do because he had the advantage. The freak was still sober. Like I thought, we have different ideas about being polite.
  20. I don't have an issue with it, nor do I think that is racist. What Ron wrote is racist. If you change the colours, it is still racist.
  21. Interesting. Cause Ron didn't say American Negroe kid. He said black kid. A Korean proclaiming all the Chinese are dumb is clearly not racist. A Korean proclaiming all white people are dumb is racist.
