No. They fear the extradition to Sweden cause that will land him in prison in Sweden. I don't think an extradition to the US is ever in the cards ( the other line of thinking is that this process was started to buy the US time to see if they can come up with charges for Assange. This process would have forced him to stay in a country with an extradition treaty to the US.)

Its interesting that Dutch coffee shops can now only sell it to residents of the NL. Last I heard it was really being fought by Amsterdam. I understand the driving force behind that law is the trouble in the small towns near the borders.

Human trafficking for any reason is already illegal. Not sure what keeping prostitution illegal does to counter human trafficking. I see no sane or logical reason for the illegality of prostitution.

Who said anything about extradition to the US or the death penalty? Assange is not a US citizen. His sites weren't hosted in the US. The US doesn't have anything that will stick in court to get him extradited for. This was he would still end up in prison.

They don't have any charges. They can't lift him or have him have an accident. Too public a figure, too well known he would be hated by the US. Who is going to stake their career on that one? The trumped up charges in Sweden are the way to get back at him.

Deciding to smoke crack is an incredibly poor decision in my book. If you have been to NA meetings, I doubt you could label it any other way.

As I said in my post, the correct terminology for an author not making money off the book he wrote would be: all proceeds are being donated. Like I stated after that, if that is what was meant, I will happily retract my statement.

I would rate it as a better use of tax payer money than using it for some more collateral damage in Iraq or Afghanistan.
