Why? Because the US has a very unhealthy relationship with anything military, and in my opinion by extension the whole defence/intelligence industry. Every soldier is a hero, no event can take place without mentioning/honouring military staff and/or might. The defence industry has a vice grip on the US and will go to great lengths to ensure continued and increased funding. I list all your various alphabet agencies under the moniker of defence industry.

Ah another conservative treehouse reader. Which race is more likely to wave guns around after a fit of road rage?

Rioting over the zimmerman case should be an embarrasment to blacks
SkyDekker replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
More like when someone not known to be a left/right wing troll says something I give it more weight. Bullshit. You hopped on it like a stripper pole dancing because it validated your point. You didn't give a rats ass if it was true or not. The report is here: http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2012/images/05/17/trayvon.martin.autopsy.pdf I think Rush and you have had a little too much conservative treehouse. -
Agreed. Go back even further and read about the crusades, the Inquisition, numerous other examples of religion throughout history...some absolutely brutal stuff. I LOVE THIS DEFENSE! But MOM, Jimmy did it first! Last I checked, the world is supposed to have grown up and matured a bit since the middle ages. Oh it has. As long as women know their place and coloured don't get too uppity, we have come a long way!

If you want to stick up for moslems, read the koran and get back to me. While you're at it, peruse a copy of Mein Kampf and explain its relative merits on a comparative basis (hint: they're operationally interchangeable). As is the bible, particularly the old testament. But don't let that colour your judgement. The Hebrew Scriptures do not recognize any "new" addenda. They constitute the Bronze Age family history of one very, very dysfunctional family, and they were never written for general consumption. Any Rabbi worth his/her salt will take care to distinguish between the elements that have merit and have served to hold us together these thousands of years, and those whose time has long come and gone. A Parsha reading from the Torah will often include discussion of the sociopolitical realities of the time of the writing, as well as the political intent of the writer as reflected in the content of the passage. Admitted, there are those who consider every word to be The Truth (tm), but my experience is that if you present it as such, many Rabbis will roll their eyes and ask if you are kidding. "Look it's Bronze Age writing. Take it for what it's worth." Within the family, the writings have been a mixed blessing indeed; as adopted by others (Christians, Muslims, et al.), their interpretation has been particularly virulent. Grimm's Fairy Tales are similarly horrific, have about as solid a basis in fact, and are used by those who do not advocate any of the actions contained therein (e.g., baking and eating children). In any event, I agree that the Tanakh is a collection of lore and mythology from a time when life was brutal and short, and the capricious cruelty it describes reflects this. As a period piece it is of interest; as a be-all and end-all it leaves much to be desired. BSBD, Winsor Where have I heard this, my religion is better than your religion, before...

Rioting over the zimmerman case should be an embarrasment to blacks
SkyDekker replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
Quite frankly it should be an embarrasment to your society, not just the blacks in it. -
I just want to know if it was typed or cut and paste.

Fair enough, how do you control the boarders without bankrupting the country? How do you know you have effective control?

Who cares? Businesses are making business decisions. It happens every day. Not so sure why you have your panties in a wad over these particular business decisions. Don't like them, don't frequent those businesses. These businesses have decided that Paula Dean admitting she has used the word nigger has devalued her as a business parnter/spokesperson/marketing person and have decided to sever their relationship/contract. Happens every single day for a myriad of reasons.

Voting Rights Act Provision Struck Down by Top U.S. Court
SkyDekker replied to ibx's topic in Speakers Corner
I am sorry, I thought we were talking about government elections. Didn't realzie you didn't know there was more to the US government than just a President. Sure sounds like the majority of the US government gets elected through a very democratic process with every individual vote counting. People calling the US a democracy sure are stupid. -
No. Which is why it upsets me that they redefined it. Shouldn't you be upset they defined it in the first place then?

Voting Rights Act Provision Struck Down by Top U.S. Court
SkyDekker replied to ibx's topic in Speakers Corner
If that voting is done in an open, fair and free fashion, it would indeed be pretty democratic. ONLY if the votes individually counted. Are you contending individual votes do NOT count in the US? Yes. Or are you unaware that a majority can vote for a candidate and he not win an election? Really, a majority can vote for a Senator yet that Senator can still lose the election? What about Representatives? -

If that voting is done in an open, fair and free fashion, it would indeed be pretty democratic. The last Iranian election met those requirements, apparently. But the candidate list, otoh, had to be approved by the religious rulers. You could freely vote for anyone they offered up to you. lmao, yes that sounds like a very fair and open process to me. Would you like to twist and turn some more to disagree with me out of principle? -

I don't think you understand that head of state, head of government and parliament all are different entities. But, please do explain where the contradiction is. -

Voting Rights Act Provision Struck Down by Top U.S. Court

I would. ***Incorrect only if adhering to the definitions in use when the founding father's penned their documents. Which is all that matters... And which is the only reasonable adherence when discussing US Law... unless you are a Progressive. Oh, well if you would, then you would be the slightly retarded one. Since in our parliamentary constitutional monarchy our government is elected through a democratic process, one would be fully in their right, under the english language, to call it a democracy. Your founding father's definitons also included blacks as not being equal to whites. Women not being equal to men. Obviously over time definitions and interpretations change. -

Your comments here would be funny it not for the fact that they indicated a sad lack of understanding of the ruling And we are not a Democracy. The founders made sure of that We are a respresentative republic So you disagree with: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy and everybody else on earth as to what a democracy is... That's fine though, you can redefine any word you want to fit your agenda. Stupid statement, stupid thread... with a stupid link trying to back up the stupid and INCORRECT statement. Incorrect only if adhering to the definitions in use when the founding father's penned their documents. I wouldn't call it idiotic or stupid though. I live in a parliamentary constitutional monarchy, yet wouldn't call you stupid for contending it is a democracy. There are multiple defintions for democracy, chosing the most narrow one to call some one idiotic or stupid is ..... -
