  1. Equivocate all you want, I was right and you were demonstrably wrong. If you want to hang up on semantics like that, then no you were not right. You claimed that the internal combustion engine was invented in the 18th century, where in fact Huygens did that in the 17th century and the concept was explored as early as the 16th century. Now of course the Huygens engine with gunpowder as fuel is a little different than what Otto came up with. But then it is pretty comparable to the Fritts Vs. Bell Labs debate. So, if you want to be right in that conversation, then you were wrong on the internal combustion engine. If you want to be right on the date of the Internal Combustion Engine, then you are wrong on the Fritts vs Bell Labs one.
  2. Love it! Fucked up on that one for sure, hence I won't edit it now and just own it :) Best part is that I was well aware of this too, and still typed out the wrong one....
  3. I guess I can understand the need for this stuff to be legislated....
  4. "Charles Fritts (1850 – 1903[1]) was the American inventor credited with creating the first working Selenium Cell in 1883." You can have your own opinions but not your own facts. You are both right. Rest is a semantics argument. The current version of the solar cell has much more in common with the Bell Labs version than the Charles Fritts version. Like trying to establish who the inventor of the internal combustion engine is.
  5. Useless argument. All that can be determined at trial or during grand jury proceedings. No reason to have statue of limitation on criminal offences.
  6. No really. it has been explained a couple of times now. Then it should be easy to site just one example. But you won't, because you can't. Instead you will respond with a weak, pathetic ad hominem attack. Not one word about the substance of the OP in five pages of discussion. Red herrings about bleached corals, melting glaciers, spelling critiques, PAs on everyone from me to the committee chair, but nothing on topic and that makes me sad Maybe I can find an article that doesn't agree with my position and post it as proof that I am right.
  7. Unfortunately it was "Payment structurer: 15 months" He was never tried for the molestation, and never will be. If he hadn't been a Congressman and under financial scrutiny, he probably never would have gotten caught at all. Right, like I said fucked up. How do you have a statue of limitations on repeatedly molesting children? Oh you ruined all those children 30 years ago, well that's ok then. Carry on. Oh hang on, this shoplifting is your third offence. Off to prison you go for the rest of your life and you will never get out again. Yup, not fucked up at all.
  8. No really. it has been explained a couple of times now. I think your continued asking is what speaks volumes. Hey Rush, nice logic on the research grants, that's some bright thinking. Keep it up!
  9. What a great system: Shoplifter: Life in prison, no parole, ever Serial molester: 15 months Totally fucked up.
  10. It takes a minimum level of intellect to deal with him. Isn't for everybody and that is ok. No child is left behind.
  11. To be fair, from your link: "The 41 letters made public were mostly written in late February and early March — before prosecutors detailed sex abuse allegations against Hastert from decades ago.... He pleaded guilty in October to one count of illegally structuring bank withdrawals to avoid reporting requirements, admitting in a plea agreement that he'd paid $1.7 million in cash to a person identified only as Individual A to cover up unspecified misconduct from decades earlier." They weren't supporting a child molester if they didn't know he was a child molester. (TBH it would probably be appropriate for the defence to have to contact those people and ask if they still wanted to support him, given what they now know!) Considering a few people have withdrawn their support letter according to the article, I am led to believe everybody had that possibility after this information came to light.
  12. To me this case is a prime example of the insanity of the US justice system. This guy's maximum sentence is 5 years and most likely will get some conditional sentence. In the mean time people are serving life in prison, without any possibility of parole, for shoplifting.
  13. What kind of retarded response is that? You put up an article to support your position, then call the article pure unsupported speculation. No wonder the denier movement lives mostly in the US.
  14. That was indeed an eye opening story. Their job is mainly asking for money for their party, that is what they spend the majority of their time on. Trying to govern is a distant second, if there is even time for it.
  15. Hard to believe that could happen. Isn't acquiring a weapon pretty easy in Ohio?
  16. I don't think you understand why New York Democrats would want to vote Trump in the primaries. I can think of two reasons: 1 - they either like him, or are really disenchanted with everyone else - quite a lot of Dems and Reps fit this category - too bad they don't find a nice libertarian to put this energy into 2 - they really don't like him and want to give Hillary more of a chance to win since she is slightly less despicable. And a known factor at least I suspect it's a mix of both Considering things are rarely absolute, calling it a mix of both is pretty safe. Considering Clinton won her home state with pretty decent numbers, the needle seems to head in a particular direction.

That sounds painful! Not really, just the mark of a guy with a high sperm count.
  19. Thanks for the story! What a great experience that must have been.
  20. You have to admit it though, it will be fun to watch. Yes! Please all vote for Trump.
  21. If it turns out that he died from influenza there will be a run on vaccinations. I think it is more likely he died from being a Jehova's Witness, being told he didn't need medication anymore and that God had cured him, or something along those lines. Good night, sweet Prince.
  22. Free? Last estimate I read was $500M to run for POTUS. There *are* other parties, but they don't get the corporate donors: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_the_United_States Welcome to capitalism. Were you expecting anything else?
  23. Thanks for the link. Had an article line dup and copied, then completely forgot to add it to the post. Does masturbation lead to dementia?
  24. Utah has declared porn a public health hazard, calling it potentially biologically addictive and linking it to infidelity. Starting to see less and less difference between those evil muslim countries who dictate what their people can and cannot see, do, or wear and the US.
