  1. Are there a lot of people who feel that? Do they support counting pregnant women as two (or more) people during a census. Are they in favour of allowing any child tax credits to start at pregnancy in stead of at birth? I will agree that a lot of people say they feel that fetuses are human beings, they just don't back up those feelings with actions other than actions to control women.
  2. The then District Attorney, who made this all go away initially, now is facing criminal charges. If she goes to jail, that would be some actual justice.
  3. Well deserved. I cannot imagine hating another race so much that it would land me in and my son in prison for the rest of our lives. And to think that this almost all got swept under the rug. The Justice system had swept this all under the rug....
  4. He must have started cooking meth later in life...still looked good for his age.
  5. CAD$0.34 per 9mm round with steel casing, before tax and shipping is the best deal around here......
  6. The free market doesn't exist for Reuters? Interesting how a Manhattan Institute publication is upset a company is exercising their free market rights and principles. More and more I am starting to believe that the only "right" right-wing Americans are interested in is the "right" not to have to face any consequences.
  7. Demons...in a plane packed with demons.
  8. And until Republicans start supporting "baby bonuses" for pregnant women, it is all bullshit. "Funny enough" when money is involved Republicans have a very different understanding of when life starts.
  9. Don't think the stats bear that out. This is what we are seeing in BC:
  10. I certainly agree that the rise of social media, mass communication and the availability of "information" all play into this. It has led to an overall distrust of information, resulting in the wider availability of knowledge actually making people less smart. How else does one explain groups of people standing at the grassy knoll waiting for JFK Jr. to reveal himself to put Trump back into power? It has also led to a lot more exposure to the ills of society that have always existed. It was much easier to hide from what was wrong and never having to address it. People would likely not have walked up to you and asked for your opinion on racism, or confronted you with their opinions on the faults of Christianity. Yet, obviously on the internet that is all pretty much fair game. The idea of "if you won't say it to somebody's face, don't say it at all" has left a lot unsaid in the past. Things we are now trying to reconcile in many cases. Personally I am of the opinion that a lack of willingness to sacrifice for society's greater good is what ails the west. We seem to only want to make ourselves, or those very identical to us, better and richer. I do believe that this will result in the end of democracy. I do believe the US will very likely have an autocratic ruler within the next 2 decades. To me the only way to change that path is if we find a way to care for those around us, care for the earth we live on and try and understand that a rising tide does lift all boats. But, it requires people to "give things up", maybe even more than somebody else might gain. It requires caring for those who are not like us. Maybe that is what you meant with decency, but I disagree that it is something that existed in the past.
  11. Ah yes. I should have said people within countries. I phrased it the way I did to indicate I did not think that was an American thing alone. Thought it was pretty clear from the conversation that we weren't talking geopolitics. Not back, we never left. If we are getting better (which I agree with) that would mean we haven't lost decency, we are gaining it. Bigun's statement was that we have lost decency and that is what the current problem is.
  12. I am not talking geopolitics either. How did white people treat black people moving into their neighbourhood. Was that decency? Or was the decency lost before then? Or does he mean that decency was lost when homogenous communities were no longer homogenous? When does he think this wide respect for other cultures was present?
  13. In your opinion, when was this sense of decency lost? Personally, I think there is a very long history of countries, including the US, not being decent. What is "new" is more people being vocal about past indecency and lots of people being upset their beloved country wasn't all rainbows and unicorns for ever and ever.
  14. Did somebody tell you the vaccine was going to be effective against all future possible mutations? As indicated above, you seem to be unable to grasp even the most basic of concepts, so I don't think learning is very high on the list of things you are looking to do. You are looking to confirm a bias you established early on. You are doing the opposite of learning.
  15. If your main source of medical advice is coming from the Epoch Times and Tik Tok, well you might just be a Darwin Award winner in the making.
  16. I stopped before confirmation. Yet somehow the church had no problems taking my money to have my (first) marriage in the church. As long as I pinky swore to really do my confirmation after the wedding and of course "donated" a bit more than the recommended "donation" for a wedding.
  17. Happy New Year to all. Let's hope the world finds a way to get a little closer together this year.
  18. Wokeism is to American fascism what Jews were to German fascism.
  19. A guy using his kid's time for a Christmas call with the president to tell the president to fuck himself does sound like one of those fine American Republican Christians.
  20. How can something that doesn't exist stall?
  21. No doubt. My question is if she ever actually trained to cut away her main prior to pulling her reserve. In other words, did every high stress scenario she trained always have her pulling her pistol? (I am not expecting you to have this answer lol, just kind of wondering out loud)
  22. Holy Fuck......baby Jesus wasn't born on December 25th?
  23. So the main point of the article is about a fault in nuclear reactors which is forcing France to take a few nuclear power plants offline. You have never predicted that France or anybody else would have to take nuclear electricity producing capacity offline. I also don't believe you actually read Newsweek. So you likely saw this on some echo-chamber website and copied without reading. Or you simply don't understand what you read.
