QuoteTJ is a gay homosexual. reply] Wouldn't that count as a double negative, therefore making him straight.

Sooooo, the $20 gets you pizza, a possibility of a prize, and no guarantee of tunnel time. Is this a tunnel party or just a pizza party?

Sucks big time if I might add. My card was charged on the first part of February and haven't even a tracking # to show. What's that make, 13 weeks? I agree that I probably would have waited regardless but I don't like to be told, "usually takes about 5-6 weeks, at most 8 weeks" and now be sitting here at week 13 wondering if my helmet even exists. I work in the retail business so I'm not bashing the company, I hear great things about their quality and workmanship, but I bet it takes at least another 2 weeks before I get my helmet. There better be a free t-shirt with it.

.....12 weeks......still counting

11 weeks and counting.....
-
I didn't see either of those in the calendar.

My credit card was charged on Feb 14th, it hasn't even shipped yet. I think I have bad luck with these types of things, my canopy took 11 weeks and my helmet cam that I use for streetbikes took 2 months and I was told it was in stock. Oh well, I'm getting a beer.

Me and a few pal's live in Paso Robles and I know someone else who lives in Los Osos and we all jump at Taft, your welcome to catch a ride with us. We jump mostly on Sunday's. Like everyone else has said, Lompoc has great instructors, a great view, good planes, but the main landing area and the weather are not very helpful for getting through AFF. I did my whole AFF in 1 weekend at Taft and even was able to make my 1st solo. That's nearly impossible at Hollister and absolutely impossible at Lompoc, plus we have a Super Otter now .

It took that long for me and I just got it last month. No complaints though, they told me it was going to take that long. Basically both the Sabre 2 and the Safire have a pretty mellow opening with the Safire being slightly more mellow. IMO you should be choosing based on the way the fly, not the way they open since the openings aren't rough on either.

I was told this a few nites ago at dinner with some redneck friends of mine. "There's only 3 things that fall from the sky: rain, birdshit, and fucking idiots."

The HD flyer needs to fly their slot and not look up. The HU flyer is the one that does the work.

Would you pay to watch a Swoop Competition?
uponone replied to dsbbreck's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't swoop because I'm not skilled/experienced enough... but like Phreezone said if I want to go watch some swooping I can go to a local DZ and watch... I don't need to pay to do it... (I of at least one Swoop Comp this weekend that I was personally invited to by one of my friends.) Scott I am an athlete that 'practices' in several different sports. I snowboard at least 4 days a month but still pay to watch big competitions. I ride and race sportbikes and dirtbikes all the time but I pay BIG at the races. You can watch anyone practice for free but practice is not competition and that is where it seperates the good from the pro. I gladly pay to watch games, races, and other events so why should I exclude paying for watching a professional swoop competition with sponsors, vendors, and announcers just like any other competition. -
Thanks, you sparked many questions that I will ask tomorrow at safety day.

Very good point buuuuut say your hands were already on your rear risers, would a rear riser flat turn lose less altitude than a toggle flat turn?
-
I have been told that a rear riser turn is good to use in a low altitude - avoidance situation as it acts just like a flat turn but requires less "feel" then a toggle flat turn. What are your thoughts on this?

Wait until you get around 30 or more jumps, who knows you might quit by then. In the meantime check out this article.

Frontier Sky Divers MOST Expensive place to train
uponone replied to JohnElliott's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hmmmm....you have a business degree, commercial pilots license, you seem to be a self-proclaimed entrepreneur, you know the ins and outs of thrill activities, and are currently studying medicine. That's a hell of a resume. If this is all true then you are very "book" smart person but you seem to be lacking a little common sense. Common sense tells me not to piss in the drinking well. Common sense tells me to do unto others as I wish they do unto me. Common sense tells me to not ask advice from people and then insult all those that give it for in the future when I require more advice it may no longer be given. Common sense tells me to be respectful and courteous to all those who preceed me because they HAVE been there and done that. Common sense tells me that if you have 3 different careers with degrees at least one of them should generate an income. I teach people how to ride motorcycles year round and how to snowboard in the winter. I've seen many people come and go with an attitude like yours. All extreme sports are dangerous and because of this the people who are in the sport a long time don't seem to have the same amount of patience with people like you. The thrill and fun aspect may be what entices you to join a sport such as this but it's the friendships and comradery that keeps you coming back year after year. Do yourself a favor and drop the crummy attitude, it really will get you nowhere. -
Whether it's available and how much it costs is going to vary from one manufacturer to the next. If you are seriously interested I recommend contacting the manufacturer directly and ask them, most are very quick to respond. That said, don't copy me or I'll hunt you down and rip out your heart.

I'll also be looking for volunteer videographers/photographers to get shots. I'm planning to put together a DVD of all of the pilots and rounds at the end. *** I'll be filming at Hollister if it gets confirmed.

Smart move on Dave's behalf. George and Robyn's dropzone should be opening later this year which means lots of competition. An Otter is the only thing that will keep them afloat. UntamedDOG Where they opening a DZ?
