As a student I jumped with FXC's or Astras or something. All I know is that I would've preferred to jump without those antiques than with them, even as a student. When I finish building my rig it'll probably have a Cypres. Probably, because there may be other things I decide to spend my money on. Do I buy a Cypres or an audible that'll back up my visual alt and help prevent low pulls? Do I buy a Cypres or spend a grand on tunnel time which will help guarantee I'm always stable on deployment? Do I buy a Cypres or a good leather armored jacket that'll save my ass when I wipe out on my motorcycle? You own a Cypres for safety reasons. When was the last time you practiced reserve pulls on the harness? When was the last time you went over in your head what you'd do in various emergency situations? How frequently do you have your rigger inspect your gear for defects? A Cypres doesn't make you safe, only you can.
-
Damn dude. You look like something just reared up and bit you in the balls in that picture.
-
"You may consider that pulling my reserve on my back was wrong" No way, totally right thing to do. Get the shit out. If it mals, you deal with it then. But you get the shit out.

Thanks for the advice guys. Found a local Hatha Yoga class and I'll give them a call tomorrow. I needed an extra hobby anyway.

"I am a little upset you didn't ask me if it was OK to post the vid." Oh c'mon sis. There's not a person here who hasn't had a landing like that sometime in their skydiving career. Nothing to get upset about that yours happened to be caught on tape

Any of you guys do any sort of physical training or stretches to keep in shape for skydiving? I haven't dove in a while and will be starting back up with a 3 day tunnel camp in March. I'm rowing about 3-5k a day for strength, but I'm conerned that I won't be getting all the muscles I'll be using during training. I don't want to be so sore after the first day in the tunnel that I'm less useful the other 2 days. Are there certain stretches that will help? One of my old instructors suggested Yoga to me, and I have a beginners book on it, but are there certain asanas I should be focusing on?

Cool pics. I've always wonder what it would've been like to live back then.

A cypres fire in a plane? Ouch, that could've gone real bad. Don't think I've ever heard of that happening before.
-
Um, my favorite actor can beat up your favorite actor?
-
Yeah, but if a 206 engine dies you just replace the hamster that runs in the little wheel.

Learn to like ramen noodles. Instead of fully cutting away why don't you do what I did? Move down to FL and get a job there. Or you can go to CA or TX, AZ wouldn't be too bad either.

"Uh.... Skygod?" Naw, if they're 4 lbs each they're probably brass or copper. Real Skygods have balls of titanium. Very little weight with those.
-
Don't think the one ounce of extra weight would throw the canopy off so much.
-
Yeah. Hopefully she hasn't been under a 200 sq ft canopy all this time though. A 100 lb student under one of those will go off DZ anytime someone on the ground sneezes. Of course the problem then with the 135 ft Tri is that she won't know what to do when she flares and the canopy actually responds.
-
"My tandem instructor was/is black" Was? He turn white over the weekend or something?
-
"The company may recommened loading the canopy at that exit weight, but, does the novice really have the skill level to be flying something that size?" Aerodyne has 3 wing loading ratings: novice, intermediate and advanced. So while, yeah, you can underload the canopies, a novice should probably jump the novice wing loading.
-
Maybe you're doing something with your body when you're deploying? Pack your rig and have a friend jump it. See if he has the same problem.
-
See below for a link to Aerodyne's recommended Triatholon wing loading charts: http://www.aerodyneusa.com/triatspectab.html A 135 main has 122 - 149 lbs exit weight listed for novices, a 120 main is 108 - 133 lbs.

I've heard some good things about XP's stability. Might want to switch to it.

Nothing like landing with style. Wonder if that was her Hornet?
-
Lots of cute chicks. Is Kay still around? Or is Sang keeping her all to himself?

>Unlike women, ask them and they say " if you have to ask then just forget about it. ". LOL, that's so true. It's a test. You're supposed to be so in tune with their needs you just "know".

And my friends wonder why I don't date.
