  1. Let me give you this helpful tip.
  2. As has been said before, In a "democracy", people get the government they deserve.
  3. Of course it does. First of all, running in traffic is dangerous. Especially in wing-tips. And at the scene of the accident the vehicles could be leaking dangerous hydrazine fumes.
  4. That's disgusting. What did that poor duck ever do to them?
  5. Sigh. Leave it to Joe to break Forum Rules.
  6. Cedar Rapids is in Iowa. You have to make allowances. Why do we have to make allowances because someone is from Iowa? Chuck It's because of the corn. Iowa has lots of corn.
  7. I'll tip 15% on the untaxed portion for regular service and 20% on the untaxed portion for good service. I will not pay a tip on taxes. I thought most people tip on the untaxed part. I always do. Note how at the restaurants with POS terminals at the tables it offers to calculate the tip for you based on the after-tax total. Douche-nozzles. No thanks.
  8. He copied the text from the Cedar Rapids CCW thread and modified it. Ohhh, now I understand. I knew it didn't seem like Bill's writing style. It's just that some, uh, authors' threads I don't even bother to open.
  9. You too??? me 3 Me 4. I figured it was Blevins starting yet another thread that didn't belong in speakers corner.
  10. Don't be smug. You've got quite the court history. https://www.google.com/search?q=grue+arrested&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=nts
  11. What did the protesters want? Justice. Yes, yes, I know; according to you, it's free Jordans and 40's. But really, it's justice.
  12. No, that would be his brother.
  13. +2, me three! This is becoming quite the circle-jerk.
  14. To my analysis, I think Jeb Bush has a very competitive chance of being elected, assuming he doesn't have a poor-quality campaign, a better chance than several other major Repub potential candidates. It's not so much that he's charismatically "likeable", but that he's not un-likable, as some other major GOP possibles are. He actually comes across as intelligent, affable and sane - unlike his dad the likable but slightly clueless dweeb, or his brother the doofus, or Ron Paul the weird little oddball, or Ted Cruz the really, really scary angry guy, or Rick Perry the dumb-as-rocks dumbass. In fairness, I think Hillary has too much baggage, too, though she'd probably have a very capable campaign. She could probably lose against a good GOP candidate with a good campaign, though she'd probably win against either a nut-job opponent or one with a lousy campaign (or a bad choice in running mate, Palin- or Quayle-style). I endorse the OP's point - I don't want either Jeb or Hillary to run, because I resent presumptive family political dynasties. I realize they're a common part of the landscape, but I still resent them.
  15. https://opencourtrecords.org/search.php?name=Anvil+Brother&state=&P=0 You're clear. For now.
  16. Well, that's certainly on-topic. The robber could have noted that the cops were plain-clothed, presumed that they were not wearing body armor, and concluded that it was a good opportunity to assassinate more cops, thereby putting the blood of two more cops on the hands of DeBlasio, Negro protesters, and their liberal apologists. Here's a photo of the suspect police have in custody now. He certainly looks like a Negro, or maybe a half-Negro, or possibly Hispanic. Maybe a Gypsy. Certainly not an Irishman. Anyhow, it all fits.
  17. Making large donations to politicians comes to mind. We have the best government money can buy. Who is we? Does England buy their Politicians? Sort of. They get them on Lend Lease from the US.
  18. There has been more than just armed robberies at churches] Indeed. If all altar boys were armed, imagine how many dead priests there'd be. Burn!!! Very few. If the priests knew they were armed, there would be less criminal activity. I suppose in this example "concealed carry" would be more a matter of timing.
  19. So when a "prepper" prepares for social breakdown caused by the government(by doing things like exactly like you just suggested) people like you, TK, and Kallend call them paranoid idots. But you spew the same bullshit from this "you've done nothing wrong angle", and now that same government awareness and preparation for their overreach mindset is what everyone should be doing? Can you see the hypocritical writing on the wall? No. And I have nothing against preppers. Sometimes I even wear khakis and golf shirts. I don't wear penny loafers, though - no arch support. But let's get back into the spirit of things. You're paranoid, and have anger issues. Oh, and I'll let TK and John speak for themselves, but you're totally making shit up to mischaracterize me.
  20. I think that people who state what you have stated wish to hide things, and do not want others to say it for fear that it will be the more popular opinion and will hinder your ability to carry out illegal or shady things. Don't be naive. If surveillance inhibits my right to protest against the government using the military to war-monger and torture, it also inhibits your right to protest against government over-taxation and anemic policies on immigration. The government that wants to monitor my First Amendment-protected phone calls and e-mails is the same one that wants to keep close track of your Second Amendment-protected firearms so they can easily seize them after a natural disaster when you need them to guard against looters.
  21. Agreed on all points, especially #1-3, for the reasons you state. Re: #4, mostly agree. While I agree that you don't really have an expectation of privacy (especially visual privacy) when you're out in a public place, the Orwellian aspect gives me the willies. I don't like the idea of technology eavesdropping on phone calls without a warrant, or being able to listen to or lip-read my private conversations with people, even in a public place. FWIW, surveillance cameras are how police ID'd & apprehended the (alleged) Boston Marathon bombers so quickly; and they also provided key evidence to help convict Timothy McVeigh of the Oklahoma City bombing.
  22. Asking what part of the bible is literally semantics. None, as far as I have been taught. Which is exactly the point: it's what people are taught - taught to think (indoctrination), taught to say (talking points; staying "on message" - the key to any public relations campaign). But anyhow, see: The “But That’s Just the Old Testament!” Cop-Out Not to be out-done by: What Does the New Testament Say About Violence? What Does the New Testament Say About Women? What Does the New Testament Say About Slavery?
  23. Maybe so, but those states amount to only, um, 38% of the total landmass in the US. Why don't you want to protect all children? Strike your colors. I'll strike nothing! What could possibly be safer for children than a landmass devoid of children? no children = no murders by children Children don't kill people. Criminals with children kill people.
