  1. Define social justice. What does that term mean to you? I get mine, and fuck the rest of youse. Why do you ask? OK, not a serioius answer. I'll give a better answer after I get this thing I'm working on off my desk.
  2. Sounds to me like Republicans in government only give a shit about social justice when it affects them personally.
  3. Sure I have. The really cool cats don't naturally drink milk - unless some human lays it on 'em.

    PEEPS!!!!

We used to get ones like this: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9QYwNtbnRNw/T6Uz6GSTY4I/AAAAAAAAASA/qIkGDd5Mn5g/s1600/adorable-chicks-with-eggs.jpg They taste just like chicken.
  5. Yep, ethnic jokes are funny to everyone, unless it's about them. Then it's in bad taste. I didnt know lawyers were ethinics???? Lawyer jokes are always in good taste.
  6. Its because cheese is an acquired taste. I don't really eat cheese at all and some of the stronger ones taste/smell like vomit to me, which in turn make me want to throw up. some of the really stinky cheeses might be an acquired taste, but it's in the ballpark of other foods with that description. But...Asians in general are have a very high propensity (up to 90% in some countries) for being lactose intolerant, and the resulting effects are a major turnoff to the food. Everything's a matter of perspective. I beleive that humans are the only mammals that regularly drink milk after they've been weaned from the boobie? If so, then from the perspective of Asians, many Africans and Sicilians*, Europeans (in addition to looking all pasty) are oddly lactose tolerant. *71% of Sicilians are lactose intolerant. (Source.) That's why they're all so grouchy over there - they eat mozzarella, get stomach aches, and shoot each other in the gut with shotguns to ease the pain.
  7. I don't believe you. me neither I don't believe that, either.
  8. From the perspective of most non-Baptists: probably about one.

  10. Hint: same places he gets his "facts" about the banking and legal systems.
  11. I don't think there was much hope for one who might liberalize social issues. What they needed - what I think Benedict was trying to signal with his resignation - was someone who (a) would be seen by the laity as not within even X degrees of separation of corruption or scandal, and (b) someone with the willingness, ability and energy to confront and cleanse the corruption - which Benedict clearly felt had overwhelmed him. In Francis, with his background and personality (and being a Jesuit), they may have gotten the former. But I worry that at age 76 he'll be too elderly to have the strength, and the time, to do the latter. I'm disappointed in the possibility of stagnation and inertia signaled by his age - I wish he was at least 10 years younger.
  12. Whitehouse.gov will make you vomit no matter which guy's in office. You're better off watching animal porn.
  13. Yeah, well, your screen name rhymes with Borg. http://www.bigdamngeeks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/borg.jpg
  14. http://www.childhelp.org/pages/statistics I'm curious, since the site is a bit vague: how does that compare to other industrialized nations in terms of percentage of population? (The word "worst" is obviously a comparitor, yet a raw number alone doesn't help me get my head around it on a comparative basis.)
  15. Thanks for your patronising comments. Would I be smarter by default if i was old, cynical, and cared what people said on the internet? I don't know. In my life experience I've found that those who are smarter by default are generally those who think, act and speak like it - which is to say, those who don't have their heads up their asses.
  16. I may speak just as you may speak: whenever I wish. And I say Dave Lepka made valid points. Yes, I believe in giving one the opportunity for redemption, but Dave's points are valid, too. Yin and yang, baby. Embrace it. Or not. Whatever floats your boat.
  17. Let me be Frank. No. You call the pope Frank? It's Psycho, dammit! I'll kill ya! Pope Psycho
  18. I'm thinking that the biggest market Gates has right now is China and India - and they are growing...... As for his charitable donations, it's his money. None of your business. If you want to complain about keeping money priorities to domestic benefits, you might consider complaining about policies from the exec and legislative branches of the government. I've done that too, and I've also stopped buying MS products. Well that's up to you, but it's yet another example of your mis-directed anger. Gates donates zillions of charitable piasters that are spent in the US.
  19. I agree, but it's a separate point. It's a reflection of lack of experience and astuteness, leading to amateurish, ill-considered public relations gaffes. Too many newbies on White House and Congressional staffs (historically, of both parties), making serious decisions they're still under-qualified to make, which are not diligently vetted before they're put into play.
