  1. Oh, yeah - the slow trickle of states that are decriminalizing marijuana. The feds remain opposed.
  2. I'd propose a general rule that those who most stridently advocate the use of English should set an example by spelling it correctly.
  3. Yeah, I was thinking/answering strictly in terms of legislation ; I might have cited a few more had I included the courts.
  4. Off the top of my head... twice in my lifetime. First were the civil rights legislation in the 1960s. Next were some of the post-Watergate restrictions on govt & LEOs resulting from the Nixon Admin's abuses. And many of the latter have been emasculated by the post-9/11 Patriot Act-class of orgasmatron. That's about it.
  5. The last time "something was done about it" was the spate of legislation that immediately followed the Watergate-era revelations of Nixon Admin abuses. And that was only possible because both houses of congress were overwhelmingly controlled by the one party. That political landscape doesn't exist now; and frankly, politicians of any stripe are only very very rarely inclined to place limits on govt power, since govt power is what they're all about. So,what will actually be done is probably.... nothing.
  6. As an aside, I will note that medical debt is one of the biggest albatrosses around the necks of American debtors. Elvisio's nightmare experience is emblematic of this - and, disgracefully, rampant. FWIW, a whole lot less of this shit would be the case if average, middle-class, non-elderly Americans' medical expenses were covered by a true system of universal national health coverage like every other industrialized nation on the planet.
  7. Many good comments above; no need for me to echo them. I will say, for what it's worth, that paying the bill in full still leaves a better paper trail than paying a discounted amount, because doing the latter might be reflected as a partial write-off by the creditor. Also: pay off the original creditor directly. Don't pay thru a collection agency.
  8. Nobody who is a moderate swing vote in an election year cares. And they're the ones who will decide the 2014 and 2016 elections.
  9. From what they reported in Canada, Obama got re-elected because conservative voters stayed home in larger numbers than the millions of liberals and moderates who voted for him in 2008 who didn't vote for him in 2012. I'm very skeptical of that - but if you have a source link(s), I'll keep an open mind until I read it/them.
  10. You guys are all so mean to me.
  11. The opposition doesn't care about real issues; it only cares about Gotchas. And as long as they keep focusing on Gotchas, they'll keep losing moderate voters. And everywhere but the reddest states or counties, the moderates are the ones who decide the elections.
  12. Pathetic, seriously!! Nobody cares.
  13. Nobody who is a moderate swing vote in an election year cares. And they're the ones who will decide the 2014 and 2016 elections.
  14. Do you people get a massive erection every time you use that term? Because normal people are just laughing at you.
  15. If the bike is worth a significant amount of money consider hiring an insurance attorney to handle it. The insurance company will probably keep denying your claim counting on you giving up and going away. This. Can't answer the question without reading every word of the entire policy from cover to cover. The best qualified person to do said reading, and then to champion your case against the insurance company, is an attorney who has experience handling insurance coverage disputes. I've handled a ton of insurance coverage disputes (between policyholders and their own ins co) in my legal career, on both sides. The only way to know for sure if you do or do not have a good claim is to lawyer-up. And if you do have a good claim, the only way to prevail on it once they've initially denied it is... to lawyer-up. P.S. - there's a pretty good chance you're going to have to sue them, because insurance companies are incredibly stubborn about not changing their minds once they've denied a claim. Better get your head around that now.

  17. Nobody, who will be a swing-vote in an election year, cares.
  18. My solution was to switch from a Sabre 1 to a Pilot. Worked like a charm.
  19. I see. Still, my previous post is the best edumacated guess I can come up with as to what might be going on inside the guy's punkin head.
  20. I guess at around 50 jumps When I got to the DZ on Saturday moring I used to sneak behind the hangar and throw up. Then I'd be good to go for the weekend.
  21. I've seen it done. It's always by someone who is obviously a novice lifter. To understand another culture, you have to get inside the heads of the subjects. You're a lifter, and have been for a long time, so you know what a squat rack is for, and what it's not for. You also understand your personal strength parameters, so you're not insecurely afraid that you might accidentally drop the weight on your foot unless you have the "security" of the lugs on a rack to quickly bail the weight onto if need be. Mr. Rudeness is a novice to lifting, and was probably never given proper instruction by an experienced lifter. He's also insecure about his maximum strength, and at what point in a set he might reach failure. He does his curls in a squat rack because, to him, it seems like a logical place to do it, and because it gives him a sense of security, as per the above. Sort of like... whatever, I hate analogies. Anyhow, that's why he does it.
  22. Traitors are enemies of the people. Whistleblowers are enemies of the state. Not all Set A are necessarily Set B. Not all Set B are necessarily Set A.
