Man this sucks....Work is crappy today and real stressful- I picked a bad day to quit smoking... Oh well. Thanks for the encouragement it has now been 13.5 hours. The cravings suck , and the want to rip off the head of all my coworkers suck (not really a change though). I remember that feeling. It was really the people and comraderie that appealed to me at first. The Tandem really didn't do "it" for me. I did have the feeling that "Wow, I jumped from an airplane today! What did you do?" That feeling coupled with the the DZ folks kept me going all thru Static line then AFF. Now I cannot imagine not being a skydiver and being part of the community. Hell, I wouldn't know what to do with myself on the weekends if I wasn't at the DZ. We generally use 2 clips, one at top and one at the bottom for the smaller flags. I clip one end to a rubber band on my rig and the other to a riser. The rubber band is so that the connection point will break in case of cut-away. On a larger garrison flag one of our demo jumpers uses a 40 pound weight and the system is deployed from a large duffel bag. BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang

I did 2 jumps on Saturday using 81 yrd paper streamers 6 total, I rolled the ends of each around some 550 chord and then taped around them. Made a loop with the 550. I left the rest of the streamer on the roll. I stuffed this in a walmart bag in the front of my jumpsuit. After opening before releasing brakes I grab the streamers and released,holding on to the 550 loop, I then using a carabiner , clipped to a poket on my leg. The streamers looked good and the length was such that I could turn below the following spiral but since they were paper I didn't worry about entanglment with my lines. There was some tangling of the streamers behind me but the very ends pretty much stayed clear of each other I think next time I will try to stagger them on a weighted 550 chord and maybe have one on each side. All in all I did 2 jumps with them , one into a JROTC group and one into a b-day party and both times the crowds said that it looked great and added something to the display . On the second jump I used a deployment bag on my chest and it was a lot easier and quicker to get them released. I don't know that I would use plastic streamers yet unless it was fragile enough to break, not tear, but break. Any way good stuff BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang

Thanks as always Chuck. Your dad is getting low on smoke and for this particular demo its not worth the expense. Thanks Airtwardo, any advice you give on demos is always well recieved by me. Hopefully one day I will get to meet you and listen to some of your demo stories firsthand. I just bought 21 streamers (all they had in R/W/B) they are 2" X 81' I am not going to worry about trimming them since they are paper. I couldn't find the metallic ones but I bet they would look better with the glint an all. Any way thanks again. Low level demo coming up, no budget for smoke but I did want to add the extra "Bling". I read this in a previous thread "On low profile demos I had a steamer bag. It was a velcro bag that had red/white/blue streamers in it about 15-20 feet long. -Ron" What is the best way to rig streamers? Attachment points, do you fold to increase strength?, store in a flag bag for deployment?, 15-20 feet long enough?,do you attach the ends together or space them?,etc... What is you method? I am trying to come up with a couple of games to do at our DZ on Saturday to celebrate Easter. I came up with the following. I am hoping for some input or additional ideas to make this an especially fun day. Golden Egg Hunt There will be several plastic eggs hidden around the DZ. Each plastic egg will contain a number. There will be one Golden egg that does not contain a number. There will be 2 prizes given out. When you find an egg the number inside is used to determine a winner. If you find multiple eggs you can add the numbers together. I.e. you find an egg containing the number 5 and an egg containing the number 2 your number is now 7. Be warned that some eggs may contain negative numbers. The golden egg trumps all numbers and automatically wins first prize. If the person who finds the golden egg also has the highest cumulative number the second place prize is awarded to the next highest cumulative number. In the event the golden egg is not found the prizes will be awarded to the highest and second highest cumulative score. In the event of a tie the players will perform a Sudden Death Egg-Toss. Rules: Once you find an egg you must turn it in and record it at manifest you name will be written on the egg - it must not be opened. Once recorded it cannot be swapped or given away. We will open the eggs A.) When all eggs are found B.) When the beer light comes on. You must be present to win. Sudden Death Egg-Toss: The egg is raw and the players will stand back to back and pace 5 steps at which time they will turn around. Player 1 will toss the egg to player 2 and player 2 will toss it back to player 1 at which time they will both take a pace backwards. This will continue until the egg is dropped or missed. Rules: If egg is thrown within catching distance of the receiver but is missed or dropped that person loses. If egg is thrown out of reach of player the person throwing loses. Out of reach is determined by those watching. Invalid throws are those that are thrown to hard to be caught or out of reach. Egg-Head This is a game of Russian Roulette with eggs. Players are paired off. Each player will then take turns picking an egg by pointing to one then a non-participant will hand it to the player. The player then smashes it on his head. If the egg is raw the player is out. If the egg is boiled it then becomes the other players turn. The remaining player is paired again. The player who must chose first is the newest player or the player who did not chose in the last round. In the event we cannot determine who goes first there will be a coin toss. The winner is the last person standing and there are no more players. Jumpin jelly bean There will be a jar of jelly beans the goal is to guess the number of jelly beans in the jar without going over. There will be a signup sheet next to the jar. It will cost 1.00 per guess. All guesses should be recorded on the form. You cannot guess a number someone else has already guessed. The prize will be the guess money plus the jar of beans. I use something similiar on a webforum @ work. It runs a query against the db for things like - last log on, last post etc... - It runs thru google as well. If you would like I could send you the code. We could easily develop a db to include pics,clickies whatever.
