  12. Thanks to all who replied. Checked over the rig myself, and everyhting looks good. Now I at least have an idea of what to do when I first receive a new rig. Thanks again.... SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
  13. I was actually just wondering if there was anything I should check out on the rig for myself. Anything I should look for when I get a new rig. Maybe I'm not writing my question correctly. I'll try again: I'm still a newbie and trying to learn all i can about equipment. I read post after post on jumpers that know DICK about their equipment and dont want to be one of those people. So, in this pursuit of knowledge, I'm wondering what I should check, look for, etc. when receiving a new rig. To answer your canopy question, same canopy. No problems there. I also know how to self inspect a new canopy. Leaned that when I bought it. Now its the rigs turn. 14. I actaully did a search on the forums and got lost with so much information on new rigs....so I took my chances with a new post. I'm sure I'll hear it and sure this topic has been discussed hundreds of times though. This doesnt however change the situation. I recieved my new custom ICON a few weeks back and wondering what to personally inspect on it. I've only jumped Javelin and military rigs before this one and could use the advice on 1) what do i need to look at being straight from the factory 2) what should i do before I jump it being its a different rig that I've jumped 3) any other advice (and I know to have my rigger inspect it, so we can skip that one) Blue Skies SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

  19. I dont think it matters what training you take up, problems happen in the air with new jumpers. Thats some of the interesting times when learning to skydive. My friend just passed his AFF and had to redo his turns 5 times (5 separate jumps) before he passed. He had the same problems you described with spinning out of control and the instructor bashed him twice on one jump. He finally got it though and moved on. As they told him....just relax. When in a jam, just relax. Good luck SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
  20. First, congrats again on your downsizing progression. If your more comfortable in the saddle under the new canopy and arent being too radical (going from a 190 to a 135) my vote it you made the correct decision for yourself. This is of course from just reading your post, I've never seen you fly. Second, like shrek said...(ask any PJ) an underloaded canopy is not dangerouse. You just have to know what to expect and fly withing that range. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
  21. Congrtadulations. Its a great feeling when you actually fly your canopy and it doesnt fly you. See you in GA in a few. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
  22. Ashtanga, for that I'm meeting you at a DZ and getting the party on. If anything to dissolve the myths surrounding Special Agents. See everyone in GA in a few months. I'll be the one jumping in a parka with a badge on it. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?
  23. You are correct....federal agent training for 4 months. Should be able to get some weekends free to jump though.
