  1. Thanks for all the good vibes and thoughts everyone and freethefly's kitty! I'm sorry to here about the loss of Bodhisattva I just got back from taking Katana to the emergency animal clinic for the night. like what ImGunnaJump said happened to her kitty they think she had a bad ilergic reaction to her internal sutures. Probably made worse by all her thrashing trying to get out of her collar. Thanks for the reassurence ladyskydiver. It's good to hear that she has a good chance of recovering. The vets were swamped with emergencies so they didn't have a lot of time to talk but, they said her infection was serious and she might not have had much time left if I hadn't brought her in right away. I feel so horrible for not noticing it sooner. I kept her created since her surgery and took her out to check her many times every day and she always looked ok. She was eating, drinking and playing like normal as well. The bills will deplete my vacation fund but, it comes with the responsibility of having a pet. I'm just glad I had been saving that money and had it there when I needed it. Australia will always be there in the future. I just really want my baby home soon Give Cheerio a hug for me Brit. 2. I love my little cat, but I would be on my way to Australia....... I can always go to australia another year but, I could never replace my kitty. She is a part of my family and I will do everything I can to get her well again. I'm off to go move her now Fly like a girl
  3. Some thing I don't get, cat spayed Thursday today is Monday needs emergency surgery for major infection an the vet is going to charge extra, I'd sue the moron Hope the little lady makes it ok. I think infection is just one of those risks you take with surgery. I don't really think it's the vets fault. Katana wouldn't keep her cone collar on over night so she probably licked it or something. Or maybe she did some damage to the internal stitches with all the thrashing she was doing. I'm not sure I didn't get a chance to talk to the vet a lot about it since she wanted to get to treating her right away but, I'll get more details when I go to transfer her to the emergency hospital that she will need to stay at over night. My vet said they have people to monitor her there all night incase she has any problems. Thanks for wishing her well. This is a tough time for us right now Fly like a girl
  4. She is so sweet! Thanks for all the kind words everybody. I'm so worried about her right now Fly like a girl
  5. My cat Katana got spayed last Thursday and when I checked on her this morning she looked like she had clear liquid and blood coming out of her incision. I rushed her to the vet and they are going to have to do emergency surgery on her. They said she had a major infection and was not in good shape. They told me if I hadn't caught it when I did she might not have made it. The rough estimate is 1300$ not including all the time she needs to stay in the hospital maybe as much as 4 days or more. So much for my trip to Australia oh well she is so much more important to me than anything else I could use that money for. I hope she is ok. I don't know what I would do if I lost her Fly like a girl
  6. I'm so sorry you're truck got broken in to. It must be really unnerving to know people went through your stuff! Some people are so selfish Thanks for posting about it. You reminded me I really do need to go clean out my car. I was really tired last night when I got home from the DZ and of course I grabbed my rig but, forgot my log book, neptune and my flight bag from a flight I made earlier that day. I would be really upset if I lost that stuff especially the irreplaceable log books. I'm going to get them out right now and try to be less careless next time. Fly like a girl
  7. I did my first 2 pain free jumps this weekend since having surgery the December before last!!!!
  8. That's so true. I used to be a horseback riding instructor and I had students want to ride my high spirited horse or start jumping after only a couple lessons. It wasn't because they had a death wish or they were really cocky or anything I think it was just purley cause they didn't have the experience to know any better. Fly like a girl
  9. I have 34 jumps and I have a Saber2 170 loaded at .8 Fly like a girl
  10. Humps/jumps/beer owed /2/ Boyfriend's out of town so no humps but, made up for that in jumps I did a fun 6 way w/ video on saturday and a fun 4 way today. I brought beer for getting my pilots license last week. I know it's a different sport but, I thought it was worth celebrating. Plus these were my first pain free jumps since my surgery
  11. There are so many people on here I have wonderful things to say about the list would go on forever.... First I want to thank brianfry713 for always being there for me. He has always been the voice telling me I can do it even though sometime I might dought my self. If it wasn't for his encouragement, countless hours studying with me, riding along in the back of the plane and even coming out just to support me when I did solos I don't think I would be a pilot today
  12. I live reallly close to Wash. State. U. and there are a lot of students living nearby. Many students probably get cats, and when the school year is done, just abandon them. When I was attending Cal Poly, it seemed like the campus and city was a cat sanctuary, probably due to students dumping pets. There are far fewer "homeless" cats in evidence up here, though, likely due to deaths during the ass-cold winters here. It's a tough situation. In my opinion you are doing the right thing. I would have done it too. I think the important thing now is to get the mom and kittens spayed or neutered so the cycle will end. It would be really sad if the few kitties turned in to a huge group of kitties. If they keep having kittens it will get ulgly real fast. They should also be tested for Feline leukemia virus (FeLV), feline aids (FVI) and rabies and humanely put down if they they are infected so they don't spread it (FeLV and FVI cant spread it to people just other cats) or die a slow painful death. If you can find a feral cat rescue group in your area they may be able to find them an appropriate home Especially if you think they wont make it through the winter. We adopted several feral cats at my old horse barn to keep the rats and mice out of the horses feed room. In return we built a shelter for the cats and fed and watered them. A few of them even got tame enough where they would come up and sniff my fingers. If you cant find a good rescue group you could ask around the neighborhood before you leave to see if anyone else can look after them. If not at least you gave them a chance at life and I think that is a good thing
  13. I'll be there! Brian will actually be in Europe and his Speedo will be in the same drawer I put it in after speedo day 2 years ago Fly like a girl
  14. Don't worry to much about it. Worrying will only hurt you in the end. I fly a 170 loaded at .88 and will for a long time. I got a lot of shit for ordering a brand new container made to fit a 170. People kept telling me I was wasting my money cause it was too big for me and I would want to down size really soon and then have to buy a new one. It really doesn't bother me what anyone says. I just laugh it off. I have my reasons for staying on a lightly loaded canopy and I never felt like I had to justify my self. I couldn't be happier with my container or my canopy
  15. Good. Sound's like she's OK. Did the vet tell you how long to use the collar? It shouldn't take long for the incision to heal enough to be mechanically strong enough for licking. I have never heard of a cone collar being recommended after a spay job before. Re: spay/neuter, I have access to some coupons intended for that purpose. Spay/neuter will be pretty much free. The vet said to keep it on her as long as possible. Unfortunately that was only a minuet after we pulled out of the parking lot I think they wanted me to keep it on her cause she only has internal stitches and some sort of glue on the outer skin maybe ? Not sure really why so long just know that they told me to do it. I have been keeping a really close eye on her and she hasn't been licking so I'm happy about that. That's good to here about the kittys. I'm so glad you're doing that for them. They are the lucky ones
  16. I'm now addicted to Dance Dance Revolution I know I know its lame but, Brian is really in to it and he has the hole setup hooked up to our TV right now. He and my roommate Steve left for Norway almost 2 weeks ago I got kind of bored and thought I would mess with it. I found out it has a fitness mode and I just played it for 2 hours and lost 853 calories (or so it told me). I have lost 5 pounds with playing it and eating a little less(no diet or anything just not stuffing my self) and can now fit into my super tight RW suit again

    Do you smoke?

I decided to quit smoking as of today so I can see my kids grow up and be able to retire healthy and live my days with my wife at my side.Quote Congrats!!!! My dad quit smoking several years ago after watching a really close friend die from lung cancer caused by smoking. He had been smoking for close to 30 years and qiti cold turkey. It was the best gift he ever gave us
  18. "On the way to SkyDance SkyDiving in Davis, California, I hit 90 on my motorcycle." "Every technology has its limits — and I'm not willing to test them at 13,500 feet." So It's Perfectly exceptable to hit the ground going 90 but at 120! Seems logical? Believe me I think he did the absolute right thing not to jump if he didn't want to but, since he posted about it in a public forum I now have the right to make fun of him for it and I know you get desensitized to things over time. I bet he would have been to scared go 90 his first time on a bike. I just think his logic is funny. He is brave in the sense that he made such a big deal of publicly telling everyone how idiot proof skydiving is and then saying he couldn't do it Fly like a girl
  19. Somewhere between big foot and trimmed I like my men with a clean shaven face, short hair and a natural body but, If there is and excessive amount of hair in funny places then a little trimming is in order. Luckily I don't have to worry abut that with my man cause getting him to shave his face is hard enough Oh yeah and a little manscaping down stairs is always appreciated Fly like a girl
  20. Thanks! She has calmed down this morning. She is still crying and jumping around a bit but, It's a lot better. I found that if I go between spending a few minutes lying down and cuddling with her in her crate and leaving her alone for a few minutes she calms down. She hasn't been licking at her stitches (or what ever they used on the out side of her skin maybe some sort of glue?) yet but, I'm worried she might in a few days when they get itchy. I tried a few more times to keep her oclor on but, to no avail. I'll just keep a close eye on her and take her to the vet if I see any problems. Fly like a girl
  21. Be ready for anything from 60 degrees in the fog to 90 degrees in the sun - ie shorts, shirt, pants, and a jacket/sweatshirt. And a 49er's hat. That is so true! I think the coldest I've ever felt is at a SF Giants game. It usually starts out sunny and warm but, then the fog rolls in and by the end of the night we are wearing our ski jackets, have a pile of blankets over us and are still freezing! Fly like a girl
  22. Luckily my vet told me all her stiches were on the inside so I don't need to come back in unless there is a problem
  23. He he that must be it! She is a very fashion conscious kitty after all Fly like a girl
