How kind, but beware, we started this thing last weekend, and it's going strong (if small right now). Kind of a perpetual motion thing! Starting the momentum early, could be dangerous to try to climb on board come Saturday so everyone should just get here early! Ahhh, but WE started last Easter. And ear plugs don't help sleep when the music originates inside the head...it only causes an echo. i know Asaf...he's a very personable and memorable guy whom is well liked. He will likely grow to become as great an asset to Bird-Man as Kim is now. Good luck in your new life Kim, and see you at WFFC!!! Rob Tonnesen "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" -Anais Nin

ADD TWO MORE!!! mujie and effinjump will be there from start to finish. visit us at the mirage booth and say 'hi'! and close friends of skymonkey1 stay away because we need *at least* 1 hour of sleep each night. (just kidding) heh heh Rob Tonnesen "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" -Anais Nin

we've been playing very well together 24/7 since Easter and i'm still not sure how she can be real. way cool in every aspect. and quite fluent in a few languages too. all that and brains too, so-to-speak.

All very good advice! And depending on the canopy, I'll add that i can sometimes be critical that the harness/container system is perfectly aligned with your body. Most of us ensure that our leg straps are tightened perfectly even with each other without realizing that our legs could have significantly different diameters. It has been my experience that athletic body types and certain others are more likely to encounter a large variation. This means that setting leg straps evenly could produce opening characteristics similar to what occurs when leaning to one side during deployment. On that next cloudy day, grab the soft tape and check yourself out. :-) Rob Tonnesen "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" -Anais Nin

they inflate enough to give you the "tankles" look, but more importantly, how do they fly? like nothing else around. i've loaned mine out to about six staffers at elsinore and each walked off the landing area with that same ear-to-ear grin that wingsuiters have. even the poo poo-ers were smiling! get hold of a pair, or better yet, order your own pair. sebastian is a top notch DZ and you will get the best training available. however, the weather in FL is unpredictable so give yourself as much time as possible. in fact, stay for 3 months or so. but not during the summer

congrats and welcome! you'll want to talk with a character and DZ.com reg named 'mujie96' who also started in HI...now at Perris/Elsinore

i want everybody to know that i did NOT kidnap mujie at perris. unfortunately, we were distracted by her concurrent move to So. Cal., my move across town, no sleep, and an ill-tempered fire breathing Neon. however, we did show up in full rave attire at the B-shelter late sat night only to discover that the "DJ" 'entertainment' was something else entirely...we left and caught up to DJ's Chris F and Jody spinning at a skydiver rave across lake elsinore..our 'no sleep' dilemma continues... will do best to be distraction free at wffc. -

at lake elsinore, with a few calls or e-mails during the week we can have 10-12 there on a given weekend. with no prior prep, perhaps 5. it's a great toy and is getting better all the time. there are some non-factory entities out there who are currently creating more fun things to do with our wingsuits. stayed tuned! -r Rob Tonnesen "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" -Anais Nin

1. have an EXPERIENCED BASE jumper have a heart to heart with her so-called boyfriend. 2. show her some of the footage from BASE 'bloopers' 3. name some people at the DZ that she doesn't like, then tell her that they BASE jump too! 4. have her name you as beneficiary 5. have her sign resusitate/do not resusitate instructions. ummm, what was it you did to your partner? Rob Tonnesen "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" -Anais Nin -
thanks Heather, and welcome. i went back and read my comment from july. what i mean by 'proper deployment' is to collapse wings, pause long enough to trade some forward flight for downward speed, then deploy. typically a pause of 2-3 seconds is enough. this helps your deployment come cleaner out of container and it will closely resemble a normal skydive deployment, although at a somewhat lower speed. in my experience, a longer bridle is a good idea for the GTi and Skyflyer. the open bottom corners available as an option from leading manufacturers, can over time, make it hard for the container to maintain proper shape, making it less visually appealing. I should be at Elsinore by 2pm on Friday, as 'relative work' will have me elsewhere until then. blues, rob Rob Tonnesen "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" -Anais Nin

Hey, Like any skydive, you would want to be sure that you have slowed most of your forward track at deployment time. Because of the engineering of the Pantz, some body positions enable you to put the brakes on and stop most forward speed 'on a dime'. You post saved my bacon last weekend! I was doing some Bird-Man heli jumps from a heli that I had not used before. The first exit was awkward, as the strut attachment point was high enough to make a normal skid launch impossible with a wingsuit. As I balanced on one foot, with the other behind me, distracted by awkwardness, I looked straight down and launched. I went exactly where I looked and began to front flip over and over again until the relative wind increased and I then found myself on my back, spinning. As this was a heli jump, my launch altitude was close to where I normally pull, so there was no time for this nonsense. I remembered your recent post, pulled my arms and legs in, immediately became stable, flipped to my belly, flew stable for a few seconds and deployed. Thanks Kim! I JUMPED MINE LAST WEEKEND!!! I am a frequent Bird-Man wingsuit flier and a fan of tracking dives. My Pantz are the BASE specific (high waist) model, and I made 3 jumps with them at the Keys Boogie. My first impression when putting them on was how good they looked and felt. The feel of them is closer to my regular, comfortable, pants than it is to typical freefly pants. In the air, with arms at my sides, but with a slight arch, it seemed that my ground speed was greater than any time with a wing suit. My body position was about level to slightly head low. When I used complete proper tracking body position, the huge lift created by the pants would raise my legs high and my forward speed would increase like the turbo boost just kicked in! :-) My average decrease in fall rate was 30 to 35mph, and I feel that I can decrease more more with practice. Fist impression: A very good product and a good investment. But I think that the BASE Pantz should also have a cell phone/radio pocket, but larger than the one that comes standard on the skydiving specific Pantz,as BASE jumpers do tend to carry a radio with them.
