  1. Oh Mark my friend I am afraid you stepped on the wrong toes today. For a 182 and most aircraft smaller then a DHC-6 it is in the STC under special provisions. It is included on some larger aircraft STCs and is highly dependent on the authorizing FSDO in those cases. Since the STC is an approved document. Violating the provissions there in stated, would render the aircraft non airworthy. and put you in violation. Maybe you should look stuff up next time. I am sorry I get so heated about pilot stuff, I just hate it when people tell me I am wrong in a not so nice way. If you need anymore help with you FARs let me know, I try. Have a good day all. 2. I like to get advice, You can still get new stuff no matter how many jumps you have. Listen to them and if you have questions ask them. Then, just ask them who they are and how many jumps they've got. Introduce yourself also. If they are insulted or angered by the questions F-them, they probably can't back things up, and you don't need to listen to them anyway. I want people to ask me, it lets me talk about myself more. 3. It makes me sad to see things like this. I have been a racer, dirt then Street, since I was 11. The sport of riding is like the sport of skydiving to me. I sold my Yosh replica GSXR 750 3 yrs ago now. It broke my heart at the time. I hate the fact that anyone can get a bike close to what I had. I had professional training, tons of track time and the bike still got over my head on a regular basis. I will hold short of saying that you shouldn't be able to have one, but anyone who gets a bike like that should be ready for what they get and know they deserve it. I know thats very harse but I am talking from experience and not just a gut feeling We all do stupid things from time to time. I do them more then most. I almost connected with a hay bayler at 172mph once, that would have been ugly. If you don't push yourself what fun is life. It's unfortunate that others died because of this, but it is a freak occurence. usually it's just the rider or the jumper that gets in trouble. A classic and profoundly sad case of shit happens. 4. I agree with Peej. I have been at the same DZ for 15 years on the 11th. I can hardly tell anyone I am a Skydiver without them saying they know a person who jumps out their. 99% of the time I have no idea who the person is. All ego aside, if you jump at my DZ more then a few times I know who you are. That is Irritating, because I consider skydivers to be a very special group and if you go for a ride on a skydivers harness or make a few jumps to see if you like it, you hardly qualify in my book. I think the approach you have taken makes you more a skydiver then almost all the people with your jump numbers and more. To give the Skyg a break I think he only ment; you have a lot to learn, a whole world of things to see, and a million people to meet. He may have come across poorly but I like to give the benefit of the doubt since I wasn't their. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  5. I just became a wings dealer. I didn't do it because I need the money. I didn't do it because I like to sell things. I did it because I was truly impressed with the rig and the company its self. The major seller I think is the comfort of the rig. The articulation system separates the vertical and horizontal portions of the harness, not just the leg straps. Cut in laterals are awesome. When I got my Wings, I wanted the smallest rig I could get. I already had the smallest Javelin. It was so comfy I could almost forget I had it on. I didn't want something had to pack so I chose a W2, to give myself some room. Wings called me up at home one night and asked me if I would like them to build me not only a custom harness but also a non standard container as well. The container they built for me was a W1-3 it was not a normal container size and they did that for me just because I told them " I would like the W1 but I think it would be a tight fit for my 89". Now thats a company I want to be associated with. They are great, and the rig is Awesome. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  6. Any time you intend to open the door of an aircraft in flight all occupant must wear an approved and current parachute. If your Pilot or observer is not wearing a rig they are in violation of federal law. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  7. I don"t live in StP anymore I live in Cadott 9mi from Skydive Wissota in Chippewa. If you live in wausau then I think your closer to us them Omro you should give me a call and I could let you know. (715)289-4764 Todd Jacobson I am a bit biased towards my home DZ but we have people who live over thier and you might be able to car pool every weekend. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  8. I read these posts and I feel pity for most. I live on 10As of mostly trees, surrounded by 100As of trees. One house about 200yrds through the trees, 9 miles from the DZ. Our house is old, but built like a brick s%^t house and kept up well with new wiring, plumbing, heating and A/C. It took us a while to find it, but we felt we needed to, so we could raise a family in peace. We can walk around naked at will. We can do anything, even let the kids play in the street if we wanted. It is bliss, but we gave up a lot to have it this way. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  9. I hit 121 in the Saturn going to the DZ Sat.. I averaged 103mph ( geared for 172 top) on the 101 mile trip to the DZ on my Yosh GSXR 750 back in 98 before I moved 9 miles from the DZ. I grew up on the Mississippi and we had a Scarab that went 100+. 58 birdman, 224 head down. 210 in a 182(oops) HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  10. two FX 89s. One is solid green my team at the time was Gang Green. One is solid yellow, my team now is the shockers. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  11. Skydiving can be a lot safer then bikes. I am a fellow Wisconsinite. Welcome to the forums and welcome to the wonderful world of skydiving. After your off student status and have your license come and visit us over at Skydive Wissota. We would love to see ya. Please fill out your profile so we can know who you are and some of your stats. I lived in Stevens Point for a decade. I have jumped at Omro and I know a lot of the jumpers their. Congrates on your first jump!! HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  12. I wanted to give people a goal and I said a clean brake off. That means 3000+, not blow them away with something hard and Dangerous. open at 1800 is great but I'm sure you were set up for a sub 15sec 4stack build. I was on a three-way that turned nine from 3200 and we're not talking grip switches they were long two and one piece moves. Those of us who have been around for a while have all done the low break off multi point skydive ( reminds me of 5 or 6 twenty ways in a row breaking off below 35 ). If you haven't your a better person then me. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.

    Dammit!

  14. I know it sounds a little to cliche, but I have more prizes then I could ever dream of using as is. But, thanks anyway The address is on my profile if you want to send me somthing HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  15. If you dont pull out a 4-way from 4200 and turn at least 4 pts with a clean break off, your wasting you time. A good low cloud day is so much fun. Taking the CReW/base canopy out and leaving an airplane from under 2G, gives life a different perspective. mmmmm. I think it might be a Cessna jumper kind of thing. It seems we just love anything we can get. We're easy. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  16. Almost no one is sure what they want with the first jump. Tandems are not bad in and of themselves but the way most tandems are run is Killing the sport. It is so easy to walk away after a tandem. Half the time, the student is out the door before the TM has put his gear down. Maybe if Tandems had to train for 5 or 6 hours they would feel like sticking around and becoming part of the sport. But they don't and they have no feeling of connection with the fun jumpers. I love tandems because it means I can make as many jumps as I want and have the hottest gear. I make a profit every year because of tandems but I would go without if I could get more people to become real skydivers. I should lighten up but I see the sport I love going in a direction that it cannot support forever. The new blood is being sifted away and I hate it. Sorry I blew up just got layed off. I may have to become a full time skydiver to make ends meet HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  17. February 7 1998. We had about two feet of powder. Temp was 25. The first jump of the day, was the first jump on the new reline. Eagle line trim with crazy brakes. This was on my Jedei 105, wing load 1.9. the first jump of the day we all landed out in the deep snow. A path about 50 wide and 100ft from the building was plowed for the next jump. I still landed in the deep stuff on the next jump, because we couldn't fly low over the building. So my surf was to long. The next jump I did the only thing I could to stay in the plowed area. I hooked way to low flared real hard and killed my surf. Thank god I figured that one out or I would have been landing in the deep stuff all day. I continued to do this so I could stay in the good landing area, Until. I hooked hard, way to low, and my right toggle came off in my hand. I had hooked up my factory set brake lines the same as before. It had been wrong before but with the new line set up, it allowed much more slack in the brakes and the brake line was able to get over the top of the toggle Needless to say the landing was not one of my good ones. From the ground up: Left knee cap, broken cleanly in half. left Femur pulverized (ten large visible pieces plus a million little shards). Ball at the top of the same femur, in half. six clean brakes of the hip, all from the left socket. Spleen, ruptured. Bladder, ruptured (but salvagable). Skull, six more brakes all coming out of the right eye socket ( I was wearing a factory diver with a $600 custom paint job, smoked that). the skull fractures tore the dura layer surrouding the brain. The nurse didn't call my parents. The chaplin did. It turns out this is not my most memorable landing. I don't remember Jan through May. I only remember this landing in my nightmares now, and those are thankfully few and far between. My wife remembers the landing well, she had to sit by my side through it all. Landing Erika as a wife, was the best landing I ever made. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  18. I will be their Thursday through the next Friday. It is to bad, its so early this year. I can't stay for the whole thing. My daughters birthday is 7/27. Guess I'm going to miss out, but I plan to make up for it by givner twice as hard as normal.. See ya their HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  19. Having him do a tandem in most places would be no more then a joke. He gets little or no training. Someone said, go on the taxi ride, use the barometer Ect Ect.., . Give him an easy way. Give him an out. Then he can decide not to push himself. He can sit on the couch and have another bowl of ice cream instead of going to the DZ and jumping. Why is America full of fat lazy people, because everything is so easy. Go for AFF or static line Have him do it himself, get the sand out and take charge. Good luck. HPDBs, I hate those guys. 20. I have a friend coming over in August (Amanda). I told her she needs to bring an Otter and some well trained sport jumpers with her. She said, no way. It was an Idea anyway. Just think of the draw. A well protected DZ set up to relieve a little tension for the military guys and girls. I think if anyone has any pull with the armed forces they should pursue it. I would go in a heart beat. It's got to suck to go more then a few days without skydiving, let alone a full tour. Good luck at making it through. Thanks for doing what you do. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  21. I am tail for a four way team known as the Wissota Shockers. We put our hands straight out, wrapping fingers, with the ring finger pulled back, then :ready, set, go. after the release of the finger wrap we raise our hand towards the right under the nose of the the jumper next to you. Then return your hand to lick your picky finger. For those of you who don't know what a shocker is, stick your hand straight out, pull the ring finger back. Insert the pointer and the middle in the pink the pinky in the stink and there you have it. now got back and think about the hand shake and what it means We do have one girl on the team, She is my piece partner. People love the hand shake when they see her doing it. I do to. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  22. You and me both (stubborn). I didn't give up after My injuries, nether should you. Keep givn'er and I bet we will see you in the air again soon. Good luck. HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  23. I pack more then 2000 a year 8 minutes, always the same unless it's a canopy I don't know or something is wrong ( step through, broken line ect, ect...,). I never change anything about what I do while packing. It works well so I do it the same way everytime, I have never been responsible for a reserve ride in 15000+ PJs. HPDBs, I hate those guys. 24. I hate to say it, but you can only do so much. You can refuse to jump with anyone who isn't a god and your still gona get it, sooner or later. I have seen some of the best skydivers in the world come crashing down on a skydive. Granted I have never seen an impact like yours. I've seen Mike and Norman have mishaps, it happens. As a load Organizer you don't get to review everyones log books, you have to rely on honesty. I wish you could believe everything people say. So while your laid up (bummer), Work on learning to use the force ( the good side). It's the only way to stop anything from ever happening Get better soon, Sorry you got hurt. That sucks I don't have a spleen, my left leg is Ti., my left wrist is plated with CF., and I have four plates in my head. so why can't you jump any more? HPDBs, I hate those guys. AFB, charter member.
  25. I am sure that each manufancturer is different. I am also sure that with a new design they have at least a half a dozen test jumpers doing a couple hundred a piece. So several thousand jumps before it hits the market is a sure thing. The liability in todays market is far to savage to allow a canopy to go to market without a lot of testing.
