  1. Looks like your on the right track to getting this solved. As a side bar I thought I would post a link to the alti mount I have used for the last five years. I love this piece of equipment, I have no affiliation with this person/company, I just love the comfort and especially the angle of the alti when worn. http://cloudflyer.com/ JUMP SAFE!! 2. I see nothing wrong with a TI that ONLY does poised exits. It indicates a preference or exit style, and has absolutely nothing to do with confidence or skill. Know anyone that does poised exits and nails them all the time?? Jump Safe . Kent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  3. We used to use Strong student rigs that were almost exactly like the pic you posted bill. Kent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  4. Sounds like some of the stories I have listened to from the early days!! It seems life was exciting back in the seventies and eighties!! JUMP SAFE! kENT ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  5. We allow observer rides if we have an empty slot (182/206). It requires a total briefing and some basic instruction on operations/canopy control/emergency procedures. Following all this they have to wait and see if we have an empty slot. When and if they do get the opportunity, they wear a staticline rig, and, have to practice a few emergency exits. Its actually a long process and no guarantees on getting the ride. Jump Safe. Kent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  6. A couple of things. You did an excellent job!! congratulations!! I teach students that what you decide to do up in the blue will never be wrong. You did exactly what you were taught to do (give your instructors a hug/handshake/TY), buy the rigger a refreshment. We will not second guess what you did and why you do it because: A) we weren't there, and, B) You can never truly duplicate 100% what exactly happened. You will get a debrief and different possibilities that could have happened (for educational purposes only). No student should ever be charged for a reserve repack or any other associated cost (pilot chute/freebag), its part of doing business. Onca again..... Great Job!! Jump Safe. 7. Well if you want to take every thing literally to the max, you can pick on every post!! If its has a tear or chunk out of it , its replaced .... Geez Kent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!

  9. I don't make a cent for anything I do at the DZ (tandem, first jump course....ect). I do it for the sport and getting more people into it!, Its just so damm fun! It be more fun if everything was free! At least I don't pay to do a tandem!! Jump safe! 10. OK .... step back and put all emotions aside.. so lets review. 1) Yes there is a humorous angle (I didn't want to smile!! really) 2) I think everyone knows that pushing anyone out of a plane is a bad idea, period. That being said I think that if you have been around small DZ's, there is a certain comradery that is shared. I've been rodeo'd off the step of a 182 a few times....buy friends. If someone did this to me somewhere else whom I didn't know ..... he'd better not have a glass jaw!! I have been to this DZ a bunch of times and know Chris and others there. They are a real fun bunch, and safety is a priority. Don't dump on a DZ, or group because of one incident. Shit happens that sometimes should not , but it does, and it does everywhere from time to time. The most important thing is to let people know that this is NOT a safe thing to do, and I think that is what numerous individuals (no names Ron ) have tried to make sure gets across. Chris, you will have to start putting a subtitles on your vids, "do not do this at any DZ!". Be Safe. Kent PS: Kepp that dam Oxford thing away from me!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  11. I believe that when you get the package (TI canidates) from Strong there is an excellent (although dated!) video of that incident (or similar) of the passenger pulling at low altitude. I took the course last spring and it is what I was told while watching the video in the class. Its worth the watch for any TI, no matter whos rig your jumping. Stay Safe. 13. I got my TM last season and had a blast (to stupid to know better!?)(I wondered why I was getting all the big guys and not the cute ladies! ) . On my 23 tandem I hooked up a guy who as an MP from the Air Force. Glad he knew how to fly as he was 6'8" and 275lbs. The pilot of our C-182 (another TM) look down at my crotch and told me I had "big ones" (I didn't know what he meant at the time). It was "snug" getting out the door, but everything went well. A 5mph wind helped to provide a perfect standup landing..... for him. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  14. Wow,.... after putting 25 jumps on my new slippery (curse &*%^@^*) canopy, I am more that impressed. No more cringing during deployment (Saber style), and a whole lot more smiling while in the air!! Lets start with the openings. I have yet to have anything but a nice moderate opening (600ft. snivel). I have even rushed a few times packing and semi trashed it while bagging, and it still treated me well. I have had a few turns on opening, but I think it has more to do with body position and flying through the opening, than anything I can attribute to the canopy itself. Even at 150sq/ft it is responsive to harness input (especially sensitive with the breaks still stowed). Riser pressure is light and builds to moderate during the dive. I like this because it lets you concentrate on the dive, rather that having to deal with the psychological distraction of heavier riser pressure build up. The tweaks of the Signature Series are most evident in the swoop. It just goes and goes, and, you can almost totally shut it down on landing with a really powerful bottom end flare. I am no swoop king by any means, and am some what conservative by most respects, but I am sure have more fun in the landing area!
  15. I bought one of these last year and loved it.(I stll love it). I had some problem with keeping the two rubber buttons in their holes. I finally lost on completely. I wrote a letter to the dealer where I bought it, (Skykat) and they in turn passed it on to L&B. The next day I got a really nice letter from Mads at L&B asking me to send the unit back. O GOD .... I won't see it for months or years!! I had my Pro Track back in less than 4 weeks!!!(with extra batteries!!) By the way .. L&B now have lower profile buttons, which do not protrude like the originals. I guess I was not alone with this problem. Overall an excellent product and usefull in many ways. OUTSTANDING after sales support from L&B. **************************************************************************************** Update Aug 09, 2004 I lost the little springs while replaceing the batteries. I wrote Mads and not more than a week later (Denmark - canada) I had 2 complete new covers (cover/springs/screws) and 2 new sets of batteries!!! NEVER >>>>> NEVER >>>>> NEVER ..... have I seen (or heard of) this level of service and care!!!!!! BUY ONE AND BE HAPPY!!! ;-)) Thanks again L&B
  16. I have an MZ150 hybrid in my Mirage M2. My rigger hates me as the reserve container is supposed to max out at a 143. I like miami, have not had the misfortune of having to use it yet. 17. Hi Kolla, You are indeed an asset!! I might take you up on the tour next winter. Thanks again for the larger slider for my Saber!! You da best!! Kent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  18. JW, I am not refering to ground fog , Fogging inside the lense of the helmet from breathing. Jumping at temps of 15F is ok in freefall, but, the first breath under canopy and its" I didn't see this cloud in freefall". Cloudburner, Great suggestion, I may just end up doing just that if my search for foam is un eventfull. Nugget, Trying to find a more permenant solution. I like my potatos fries with gravey and curd cheese (poutine, for thoes who like it). AKArunway, I will check out our sign supplier we use here at work. I fear that it will be like carprt tape and be too thin. Darkwing, I hope the new antifog from Bonehead works. I'll need a temp solution until I get this deal ironed out. SEAL S49, Never thought of radio shack. Thanks. Thanks for all the input. I'll let you know how things work out. If I find that my experiment works out well, I will have pics and instructions posted here in the near future. Jump Safe! 19. I chose the havok as I wear glasses and the Z1 just didn't work. I love the helemt (and the "Vader" look), but would like to try this. Hopefully I'll post in the near future and it will help others to do the same. Jump Safe. Kent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  20. Yes it will be a double lense exactly like a ski goggle .... if I can find the right foam. I just hate to flip up the visor as it really cuts down on vision and head mobility. I have not (knock on wood) face planted, but, if the occasion arrises it would be nice to have the visor down! I hate the fogging!! I did email Bonehead and they are mailing me a new antifog product to try. I really don't think it will help ... been there ,done that! Jump Safe! Kent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  21. I'll checkout a couple more or different Home Depot type places. Most of the foam I have seen to date is either too "spongy", or too thick, or too thin ( I gotta stop reading those kids books). The search continues! Thanks. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  22. >The tandem instructors are simply having the >passenger hum on final approach, which is working >well as it gives the passenger something to focus >on other than lifting their legs and screaming. _________________________________________________ LMAO ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  23. Hi All, I know that many of us who wear full face helmets have fogging problems. I wear a Havok and I hope that someone here has what I need (yes I know I can flip up the lense, but that kind of defeats the purpose). I would like to make a couple different lenses using various sizes of closed cell foam tape. Therein lies the problem. What I am looking for is the double sided foam tape like they use in ski goggles, but about 3/16" or about 4mm. The foam should be closed cell to avoid any air transmition. I am not looking for a handout. Just looking for a product that seems hard to find. If anyone has some of this, or know where it can be had, please let me know. I would welcome input, especially if you have attempted to do this. Jump Safe. Kent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------JUMP SAFE!
  24. I second Rapper's advice on getting the factory larger slider. I waited to see what happen to Rap before getting one for myself No use having two of us paying for repacks!! It really does tame the openings, but I am thinking about trying a pocket slider as I would like to have a bit of a snivel!
