Congratulations on 40 in one day. That's quite an achievement. Most I've done is 16 in a day. I will caution you that doing this "might" become an addiction (like skydiving already isn't, right?) Four years ago, Dale Settle - owner of Skydive Tulsa did 36 to celebrate his 36th birthday. Each year, we've pushed it further and wrapped it around a charity event until earlier this year when he made 104 skydives in 12 hours with one reserve ride. He had just turned 40.

Well, that is true except for one thing..... There's them what's had reserve rides and them what's going to have a reserve ride. EXCEPT... if they haven't had any reserve rides yet and don't skydive anymore.

This is your ass. This is your ass now. -
I "believe" this is called "Gambler's Fallacy."

I jump an Icarus Safire2 169 main and a Raven 249 Dash M reserve. Wings Container. No problem.

Interestingly enough... I was doing a tandem the other day and when I looked down saw a guy with what appeared to be a lineover. I watched him chop it. The student and I flew over it so I could "mark" where the main was. I did get to show the student the how the cutaway results in a reserve and that the skydiver was over "there" under his reserve. Must be nice to get a chopper to go find your main...

Sunset HAHO with my brew in a pilots helmet back strapped to a D ring on my rig. I fill a Mountian Dew Liter bottle with my favorite, jump, pitch, drink.

What Chris said. Better to get it checked and be wrong, than to not check it and be wrong.

I agree. Anyone who's been in business 20 minutes knows that mistakes are going to happen. The true test of a company is how they resolve those mistakes. If other companies had their level of customer service, none of them would go out of business.

Now those I have plenty of... including a flex rod. I really really REALLY don't like carbon tet (weapons guy for ten years in the military)... can I just use a dry dustless swab that won't leave any fibers in the housing, Rob?

You're blowing on the wrong end

You have received great advice from everyone here and from some of the best resources available on the planet regarding military jumping. I would ask that you re-visit your primary objective - going into the FBI. Having a military background may or may not "bolster" your resume for consideration by the Bureau. If you choose to go into the military, it must be for the reason that LouDiamond states - to serve and protect your country. And, you must be prepared to fight in combat and willing to die for that service. That is the only contractual obligation for putting on the pickle suit. Any personal or professional agendas other than that is going to bite you on the butt. I would strongly encourage you to start with your objective (the FBI) and work backwards. Contact their offices in DC. Talk with their recruiters. Its my understanding that in most cases, they look for advanced degrees in law and/or accounting. If you're going to go in a direction, shoot an azimuth in the direction you want to go... any deviations from that azimuth is going to put you in the wrong place.

Good question...I don't know I wonder if using a mechanic's air hose to blow through the cable housing might be effective?
-
No, No... it wasn' taken that way, Dave. You were actually right in pointing out the generic term that we sometimes use while assuming all know its full meaning. You reminded me that I had used sloppy and assumed verbiage in a forum where folks come for information. I appreciate the opportunity to clarify. I'd hate for someone to break out some "10W-40" and start waxing up their cutaway cables. Keith

I said "Lube" as in the act, not as in the substance. And also not as in leaving the substance on there. My bad. You're right. Food-Grade silicon wiped off is the best procedure.

Should main inspection be included with 120-day I&R?
nightjumps replied to cssriggers's topic in Gear and Rigging
As a customer, my expectations for the 120 day A,I&R on the reserve, & H/C. I do expect the rigger to lube my cutaway handle as part of that. I always ask the rigger to inpect my main also for which I expect to pay $10.00 for. While I'm anal about pre-op maintenance... another set of eyes is always a good thing. -
You may be right, I was thinking: Else; Don't fire. As long as you are good with how to get there, that's what's important. Take Air, Brother.

Has anyone seen this before?

Yes. We'd like them to get the fuck out safely. -
I don't remember the specs but it was explaned to me and others at the last PIA by airtec that the cypress fires dew th a berometric pressure reading and not 750ft or higher. As you know thies change throut the day. I'm not trying to sound like an ass just trying to convay the way Airetech came acrossed. They didn't seem to be very nice about it. Whenever the skydiver is on the ground, the unit recalibrates every 30 seconds to handle weather-based changes in atmospheric pressure. QFE (Surface Pressure), is the barometric pressure on the surface. If you set your altimeter to QFE, it will read Zero when you stand on the Runway. The Cypres interpolates that calibrated "barometric pressure" (QFE) and adds 750'. Its the same as if you took your wrist altimeter and set it on "0" just before going up and told it to fire your main on the way down if the needle was traveling between the 3,100' and 3,000' increments at greater than "X" speed within that 100'. Since you're a "Systems Analyst" think of it in terms of an If-Then-Else statement. Does that help?

750ft above ground level at a speed of 78 mph (115ft per second) or more.
