  1. I was on your right out the door, you friggin brick.
  2. Well, I was one of the lucky guys to have a chance, although I'm not the guy in that particular photo (I wear the totally navy & white tie-dyed wings rig). One lady was out on my dive - but I did get a cool pink patch hat. I had hoped we got the formation so I could put the Pink patch on my RW suit. I still think about putting it on there because I was honored to be on one of the dives, but it would imply that I was on the formation that made. I hope none of you ladies run for office in 20 years, I'd have to say I was very groped by 20+ ladies on the way to altitude. It was terrible. I felt used. I'm scarred for life. It was humiliating. I'm mentioned a couple of times on page 43 for doing SCR/SCS organizing.
  3. Contact Simon at Icarus. Last I heard, Skyworks had moved to Chicago and was doing Icarus' line, canopy repairs, et.al.
  4. Don't fret it till someone responds and "No," its nothing to get overamped about. Its just switching some bios info which anyone can talk you through. And, like I said, its been 8 years for me and may not be necessary. Its all pretty much "plug and pray" now.
  5. Assuming she's tested more than one floppy and that a new floppy has been installed, any possibility the CMOS might need changing? Edited to add: I ain't touched the guts in about 8 years.
  6. Ditto on what Rob said. A lot more US DZ's are going to a 3 S/L, IAD or Tandem single AFF Instructor format. Its really not about number of jumps as much as it is about category. No matter if you go through, S/L, IAD, or Tandem Progression, once you get to CAT D, you can be in any discipline you choose. THey all kind of merge together at that point. It is a good time to switch as long as you're at a DZ that sees the ISP as one path and doesn't have the "old school" of individual instructional paths. I've seen more than one student switch and they start them all over when they really didn't need to. If you look at your proficiency card, you'll notice that you've fulfilled the 3,500' HnP requirement that an AFF student will have to do in a later category. Do what you want, they all count till, 1) you're cleared for solos (AFF 7 or S/L 10ish) and they all have the same 25 jump minimum requirement to get your A License.
  7. Brings new meaning to "Faster, Faster!" don't it? You think we should stop, Bobby Joe?!?!?!
  8. BIG WORD TRANSLATOR: Yo buss dis. De choices be "too spread." Responses be fucked. De results be screwed. De bottom low be; we be doggin the hydrant.
  9. Let me throw my two cents in on the Safire2. It can be as aggressive or as docile as you want. Great openings. It's semi-elliptical.
  10. And... you have to read those and know that it just wasn't some engineer who was being proactive, but more the result of industry incident reports of some schmuck or schmucks who caused someone to say, "We need to put this on our safety label." I can see it now... these labels are probably the result of a situation that started out with, "Hey!... let's try this!!!! "
  11. My last jump at the WFFC. There was a five hour weather hold. Everyone stood around gazing at the sky. Finally, the clouds broke some and we climed on the otter. The pilot was carving around some clouds at around 5,000'. The door was open, yet the sweet smell of a fresh rain emminated through the cabin. The sun was setting and rays of sunshine passed upwards through the clouds as beacons of direction. Everyone was quiet. As we continued to climb, the mood was somber. We looked out the door and below us was un upside down rainbow. We turned to point it out to our fellow skydivers forward; but they were already looking out the window in quiet awe. Everyone looked at each other in the knowledge that this was one of those sights and smells that so few get to experience. No. We did not think about the whuffos. We were engrossed in that moment in time. Engraving it in our memories for life. It will probably be, for more than one, the very last thing we think about before crossing over.
  12. You are correct regarding the questions. The choices are "double-barreled." Responses should be mutually exclusive. The result is an acquiescence response set. An acquiescence response set is a negative relation with the question, hence skewed results. Survey or "poll" questions should avoid "red flag" words with emotional connotations or that coincide with or contradict strongly-held values. The bottom line is; this poll was not done with the intention of gaining knowledge through syllogistic methodology, or to illicit data for knowledge, but by using an ethymeme. An ethymeme is often viewed as a black box; supplying a missing premise which serves to "open the box." And, evidently that was the goal, because that is the result.
  13. D-1; Lew Sanborn SCR-3; Bill Newell And, he doesn't have a low D number, but does have a really high skydive - Does Colonel Kittinger count? Cause I have him also.
  14. Source: Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, © 1996, 1998 MICRA, Inc. sex (n) 1. activities associated with sexual intercourse; [syn: sexual activity, sex activity] 2. either of the two categories (male or female) into which most organisms are divided. 3. all of the feelings resulting from the urge to gratify sexual impulses [syn: sexual urge] 4. the properties that distinguish organisms on the basis of their reproductive roles [syn: gender, sexuality] v 1: arouse sexually Other than determining between the sexes ( male or female), any act with the intent to stimulate sexual arousal is; sex. It's not about being able to say, "I did not have sex with that person." It's more about the ability to say, "The exact nature of what we/I did was..." If you're not willing to say that, then it was sex.
  15. Hehe... Most folks "assume" its some sort of peter meter reference. I am sorry I won't get to see you this weekend, Bro. I was looking forward. And, if I remember right, the King Air isn't at your place on the first weekend, is it? So I probably won't get to hook up with you until the second weekend of October... P.S. Not regreting my decision at all. Thanks for your help. Take air...
  16. Man. You guys need to have a sip of Crown Royal and watch some porn before beddie bye.
  17. First, like I said... the Instructor probably made a judgement call (although we don't/won't know why). Second, AFF levels 4-7 are 2-ways and they get out after FF'ers. I wonder if maybe the Instructor was actually teaching the student on the Coach dive about horizontal separation (15th jump) and that s/he might have been placing the student in the proper exit order. Its just a thought.
  18. 1. Don't give up. 2. We used to call it flailing, but now we call it FreeFlyin.
  19. I can see both sides of this, Students pulling high usually get out after FF'ers but before Tandems. But even pulling at 4,000 there should have been enough separation not to affect the FF'ers. Might have just been a judgement call on the Instructors part.
  20. We agree on all points, but this one demonstrates my earlier post of their individual cognitive processes. As Instructors, one of the greatest skills we can learn is not that of teaching, but that of observing. Students will give off Nonverbal ques and we need to be perceptive of those. For me, I don't like teaching and jumping the same day (except tandems). I've found a greater comprehension and student retention in the sport by doing it in two 4 hour segments over two days. Plus, I can slow down the pace to make those observations necessary for when they "tune out" on certain learning points.
  21. Oh, no doubt. I'm not going to disagree with you on that. My point is the cognitive focus of importance. Students will priortize things in their brain according to their own levels of quantity. While we Instructors emphasize exit, freefall, good canopy, EP's, canopy control and landing with equal emphasis and importance - its just natural for them to reduce it into bite size pieces of information and priority based on their perception of most important to least important. All important - yes.
  22. You're both right and you state why, when you said, "...yet imho better in freefall." Its about the main focus of the student. An AFF student's primary focus on the dive flow & the canopy is just a way to complete the dive. An IAD/SL student's primary focus is on canopy control.
  23. Awright... now you've done it. Bigun throws down his chute Bring it ON, baby!
  24. It doesn't say, "Fatun." It says, "Bigun." Does this jumpsuit make my ass look fat?
