  1. That is why I threw the shitstained flag. I smelled bullshit.
  2. I think most people would consider me liberal in our current political climate. I am anything but close minded. I don't care by what name you call your God, or even if you believe in a God. I don't care what chemicals you ingest into your body; it's none of my business. I don't care if you choose to own weapons or not, nor do I care if those weapons are registered. I don't care who you choose to have consensual sex with, or what the gender of your partner is. I do not believe we should force women to have children they do not want to have, even if they are pregnant. I would not consider these close-minded beliefs. I do not recite the pledge. I don't stand for the national anthem. My allegiance is to a holistic world community, not any single nation in that community. IMO the "my country, right or wrong" philosophy is a load of crap, and serves only to enable a population of sheeple. BTW, I did serve my country. Had I known the what I know now, however, I would not have made that mistake. I can respect all your views ,and agree with more than you would guess.
  3. Sorry if I sounded like I was in disagreement with you. It was not my intention whatsoever. I am really glad you took him climbing. Now Andy can get himself out of a 3rd story walkup after someones hubby comes home early!
  4. It's usually a voluntary diversion program; get butt-slammed by bubba or go get your head blown off for our corporate war.... either way you will be working for the betterment of a corporation. OK I am throwing the BULLSHIT FLAG.
  5. Top roping is not something to be looked upon as a lesser style or feat. Just like skydiving, living to do it again is the most important thing. Climbing is not supposed to be about danger or daring but instead to be used as a opportunity to build skills. I would like to say that seems to be exactly as you have done!
  6. And what is Natural or Common Law? Who decides what it is? Maybe it would be helpful to read up on that before you make up your mind, or argue against a statement, if you should choose to do so.. There is a wonderful search engine call google that might be helpful to you.
  7. They don't, I feel it should not be a requirement as well as there should not be a ban on the POA. If someone does not want to recite it fine, but don't impose yor beliefs or restrictions on others, and vice versa.
  8. Please. The liberal side is about progressiveness. If you're liberal and people want to be gay, fine. If they weant to be striaght, fine. IF they want to call themselves John Smith or Moon Unit, fine. If you want to change the junk between your legs, fine. OTOH, conservatives have this strict doctrine where things have an order and to fall outside of that order is IMPERMISSABLE. Boys are boys and girls are girls. There are boy jobs and girl jobs; don't cross-over. Jesus is our savior and all other religions are of teh devil.... I could go on, but you get it? How much wiggle room do teh consrvs have? Little to none. Do you know for a fact ALL CONSERVATIVES do not agree that we should all live and let live and that EVERYONE should be free to do as they like unless it violates Natural or Common Law? I think you're confusing self professed Religous Zealots with those who conservatives. Don't paint everyone with such a broad paintbrush. Even true believers in Christianity are lumped together with those who use their own predjudices to put others down. That is not fair at all.
  9. General: GIs Preserve Afghan Freedom Saturday, November 11, 2006 9:56 AM EST The Associated Press By AHMAD SEIR BAGRAM, Afghanistan (AP) — The top U.S. operational commander in Afghanistan on Saturday told hundreds of troops at a Veterans Day memorial that American forces are preserving freedom from terrorism just as World War II veterans preserved freedom in Europe and Asia. Maj. Gen. Benjamin Freakley thanked troops gathered at Bagram, the largest U.S. military base in Afghanistan, for pausing to remember veterans who lived and died before them. "Veteran's Day recalls the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, when hostilities ended in the first World War," he said. "And it gives us hope for our 11th hour and our 11th day, when peace will come to all peoples of the world and our wars will stop." Some 20,000 U.S. troops are serving in Afghanistan, with about 12,000 of those serving under the NATO flag. At least 288 members of the U.S. military have died in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan as a result of the U.S. invasion in late 2001 to oust the Taliban regime for hosting Osama bin Laden. "Veterans pay a tough price," Freakley said. "They've lost buddies in fighting. They've sacrificed so that others may enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, without threat or intimidation of violence. Veterans have earned this day." In violence on Saturday, police in the southern province of Kandahar conducted an operation against suspected Taliban militants, killing three of them, said Dawood Ahmadi, the governor's spokesman. Italy's foreign minister, Massimo D'Alema, told reporters that Italy would like to see an international conference on Afghanistan among neighboring countries, donor nations and military contributors to seek a comprehensive approach to Afghanistan's problems. Italy has about 1,600 troops in Afghanistan.
  10. Happy Bday to all you NAVAL INFANTRY! J/K I hope the Corps lives on forever
  11. I wonder if anyone has ever heard Red Buttons explaining the Pledge of Allegiance. Maybe some of you should and it will shed more light on it's true meaning. I wonder how many are willing to listen even though they believe the POA is a crock of shit. Being Liberal in this country sounds more and more like closed mindedness. College students are Adults not children and if their reading comprehension is that poor maybe they should just quit school and become a politician.
  12. More officers that act like wanna be politicians. The should be ashamed of themselves.
  13. And what more can you do to earn it? Nothing at all.
  14. Youre Welcome. I would suit up and do it all again tomorrow. As would I, after all these years and my injuries I would do it all over again. That is why I try to help whenever I can. Even if it is just giving an old salty GMC a ride to the hospital. Or even just fetching a wheelchair for a guy at the VA.
  15. End the war on US citizens who choose to indulge in drugs, and harm no one else. I think it is a travesty that our rights which are derived from our creator are only infringed upon by our government and in return that Gov. treats its people worse than a criminal.
  16. Really? You mean that Sierra we wrecked was a result of drinking? Say it aint so
  17. Wrongfully Convicted Man Awarded $450K Friday, November 10, 2006 7:23 AM EST The Associated Press HOUSTON (AP) — Texas has awarded more than $450,000 to a man who was exonerated by DNA evidence after spending 18 years in prison for a sexual assault conviction. Arthur Mumphrey was released from prison in January after his lawyer found DNA evidence clearing him in the rape of a 13-year-old girl. Mumphrey had been sentenced in 1986 to 35 years in prison. Gov. Rick Perry pardoned Mumphrey in March, clearing his record and making him eligible for compensation. Under state law, a person pardoned based on innocence is eligible for up to $25,000 for each year in prison with a cap at $500,000. Mumphrey recently got his first payment of $226,041, according to the Texas Comptroller's Office. An official there said Mumphrey will have to report the compensation to the Internal Revenue Service. It will be up to tax officials to decide if and how much he will be taxed. Mumphrey, who was 42 when he was released, declined to talk about his plans for the money. His brother, Charles, confessed to the rape while serving time in jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, shortly after his brother's release. No criminal charges will be filed against Charles Mumphrey because the statute of limitations has expired, prosecutors said.
  18. Palestinian PM Offers to Resign for Aid Friday, November 10, 2006 9:14 AM EST The Associated Press By IBRAHIM BARZAK GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said Friday he would step down as Palestinian prime minister if that would persuade the West to lift debilitating economic sanctions. "When the issue of the siege is on one side, and my being prime minister is on the other, let the siege be lifted to end the suffering of the Palestinian people," he said, referring to the international aid boycott that has devastated the Palestinian economy. His offer appeared to be another indication that the Islamic militant group and the rival Fatah Party of President Mahmoud Abbas were inching closer to a national unity government made up of independent experts — a coalition that presumably would present a more moderate face to the world. Haniyeh, a longtime Hamas leader, told worshippers at a Gaza mosque that Western countries wanted him out of government. The West and Israel have withheld hundreds of millions of dollars in aid and tax revenues since Hamas took power in March in an effort to pressure the ruling group to moderate its violently anti-Israel ideology. The sanctions have prevented Hamas from paying a large portion of the salaries owed to 165,000 government employees, causing widespread hardship in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The international community, including the United States, has said it will not lift sanctions unless Hamas recognizes Israel, renounces violence and accepts past peace deals, something Hamas has so far refused to do. The program of the proposed new unity government is vague on the key issue of recognizing Israel, calling for a Palestinian state on only the lands captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast War. On Thursday, Abbas spoke by phone to his main political rival, Hamas' supreme leader Khaled Mashaal — their first conversation in months. Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said their discussion was proof that the two are in agreement on the shape of the new government. However, weeks of up-and-down negotiations have failed to yield results, and a fresh breakdown in talks appeared possible. The death toll from Israel's artillery barrage in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun rose to 19 on Friday after Israeli hospital officials confirmed that one of the wounded transferred to Israel, Bassem Kafarna, had died in Tel Aviv's Ichilov hospital. The shells landed Wednesday as residents were sleeping. It was the highest Palestinian civilian toll in a single incident since the current conflict erupted in September 2000. The highest toll of Israeli civilians was 29 killed in a Palestinian suicide bombing at a Passover gathering in March 2002. The army said it was targeting areas where rockets had been fired in recent days at the Israeli cities. It said an investigation indicated the casualties were caused by a technical failure in the fire control system of an artillery battery. In an interview with NBC's "Today" show on Friday, Olmert, who is traveling to Washington next week, defended himself against critics who said Israel was using too much force against the Palestinians. "We are very, very restrained in using power," he said. "When someone criticizes us, I say what would you do when rockets fall on the heads of innocent Israelis?" Defense Minister Amir Peretz has ordered the military to "re-evaluate its policy of artillery fire in Gaza," his ministry said in a statement. Quote You see the US and its western Allies PAY THE SALARIES OF THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY
