  1. hmmm...how would experience help you with this problem anyways. I'd say if someone with 5000 jumps and was unconcious jumping the 128 will most likely have the same outcome as a person with zero skydives, unconscious, and making a jump on the 128. To the original poster. That is a pretty light wingloading. If your current and you can land where you want to and where you're supposed to while doing a predictable pattern... You'll most likely be fine. I jump on average maby 2 times a month. I wouldn't consider that to be current. 1.14 WL may not be that high and I can pretty much land in the vicinity of where I want to go, but it's not like I can land on a frisbee. You're definately right about the 128-5000jumps-unconcious thing and I have thought about that before, but I think that 128 reserve for my expierence is just to small. btw 900 jumps in two years and 16 years of age? damn, that's an awful lot of jumping
  2. Yeah I know. I guess I just wanted to make sure if I wasn't overreacting. Always better to ask questions than becoming a statistic. Also the fact that I myself don't feel comfortable jumping this canopy says enough I think. Thanks for the advice. (I'll be jumping larger canopy's for a while that's for sure) "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  3. So what happens when you're unconscious and have a cypres fire, and you land downwind, with no flare? Exactly. (the example you state here is probably one thing i have thought about the most) It's stuff like that wich troubles my mind all the time. Landing in a good, open and clear space, into the wind, with a good flare (on my reserve) is probably the best scenario I can encounter, and the probability of that happening is very slim. 4. Believe me, I have my concerns about that as well, but I was 'advised' that it probably wouldn't be a problem as long as I'd come in straight, against the wind, and land with a good flare. With every passing day I feel like I made a wrong decision buying that canopy. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  5. what is your experience btw? Your profile isn't really informative and apparently i'm not able to send you a PM. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

  7. Hey, Might get flamed, but here goes. Saturday, I'll be jumping at a dropzone I've never been to. I recently bought my first canopy (atom 00, electra 150, tencho 128). I have 65 jumps and my last 10 jumps have been on a quadra 170 (6 jumps) and a spectre 170 (4 jumps). My question is, should I jump this canopy (the electra 150) at my current level of 'experience' (and at a wingloading of 1.14)? Personally I think that if I did, everything would probably be ok, but on the other hand I feel a little reluctant to jump it because I'm having doubts about the fact if I have sufficient 'experience' to jump it. So that's why I ask you (preferably the more advanced jumpers) what you would advise me. Jump my new canopy? Or make a few more jumps on other larger, probably 170 sqf, canopy's? Thanks in advance. Blue skies Eli

  9. Some animals may like it and some may not (I once heard that skydiving for a dog is like 'the ultimate car window') but I, in no case, approve jumping with animals, however funny it may be. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  10. LOL, I know about a simillar story where a jumper took a cat (not his cat, jus 'a' cat) on a jump with him. He jumped, the cat dug it's claws into the jumper and when he landed it ran off like a bullet.

    Spectre?

Hi, I jumped a 7-cell Spectre 170 for the first time today (did 4 jumps with it and it was a no wind day) and personally I think Spectre is an awesome canopy! (What do you mean that it's a "sluggish" canopy?) The toggle input on the spectre was in my opnion quite good and altough I only stood up two out of four landings today, I'm guessing that in a windy day that it will flare quite well. I'm also quite sure that the Spectre is not just a canopy for accuracy. It is like you said just a great all round canopy I think, but I'm sure there are waaaay more experienced people on here who could give much more relevant information. 18. Jup. And I think many people here have experienced the same. I've had multiple skydivingdreams that had a bad ending. Most of the time it was me who bounced or pulled really really low and not someone else/a friend. I don't really give much attention to these dreams. I try not to think about it and usually that works very well. And even if I do think about it, I don't let it get to me cause in the end it's still just a dream. I know that maby it's not easy right now to get over it, but if you keep busy with other things then eventually your thoughts about it will go away. (That's how it went with me) Blues Eli "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  19. Sadly I don't own a camera :( But I was planning to ask a friend of mine to make a picture if he's on the ground while I'm jumping. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  20. Wow, I really thought the first one was 150 sqf max. But on second thought, now I'm also guessing it's a 170. I don't know if Parachutes De France only made down to 150 sqf at first, but I do know that now they make them down to 130 sqf (see pics), if they are still in production. Somewhere I hope that the canopy in the skysurfer pic is no bigger than a 150 cause otherwise my canopy looks smaller than I thought :) "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  21. Hi Saskia, Heel hard bedankt voor de moeite :) !! Those pictures are exactly what I was looking for. I already had 2 pics of an Electra but they were both from the side and I wanted to see a picture from the front. What size do you think those Electra's are? I'm guessing they are both 130's? Maybe the skysurfer pic is a little bigger, a 150. Your thoughts? Thanks again! Blues Eli ;) "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  22. Hi there, Does anyone have a few pictures of an Electra canopy in flight or during landing that they could share with me please? I bought one a few weeks back and i'd like to see some pictures of it in action if it's possible. Post here or send to eliasgerris@hotmail.com Thanks in advance!! Blues Eli ;) "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  23. I always take the train home so I don't have to deal with that problem :) "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  24. Hi, I had the same problem. I bought an Electra 150 also with an atom 00 container and D-bag. In the beginning I also had problems putting the canopy in the bag and since I did not want to have this problem every time after I jumped, I was determined to be able to do it right (most of the time). So I just started packing and packing and packing at home to 'train' myself a bit. When I had nothing to do or when I was watching television I would pack over and over again and now I can get the bag in the container almost every time, without problems. So just train yourself in packing and eventually you'll be able to do it well almost every time. Just my 2 cents ;). "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
  25. Hi there, I had the same dilemma a few months ago. I took option B and I'm very glad I did. Personally I think that the satisfaction of not jumping for a while and having your gear sooner outweighs the satisfaction of continuing to jump but having to wait much longer to have your gear. Of course you have to make that choice for yourself, but I think you'll be happier if you chose option B. Blues ;) Eli "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
